Trip Type: Family Review 1 of 97Not for families
At first upon getting to the room my family and I were very excited. There was a lot of space and the location was very nice with the beach right outside the back doors. We have a family of six and we were not on top of each other which made the hotel seem very attractive. However, once night came we were not so pleased with the establishment. We were on the tenth floor and could still hear the music from the club in the lobby. The walls are paper thin and we could literally hear every word of the conversations in the rooms around us. I was not pleased with this as our neighbors decided to stay up till about 3:30 a.m. and they were not even listening to the t.v. or to music. It was all just conversation that was keeping everyone awake. If I did not have childrn with me it would have still been annoying but not as much because I wouldn't have been so worried about the topics of conversation in the adjoing room. I will never stay at this hotel again because of this fact that I basically only got two hours of sleep between the loud music and the paper thin walls.

What a dump. I've stayed at Sands Ocean Club before but this was the last time. Loud, noisy, and full of drunks. The room was filthy. Cob webs all over the popcorn ceiling. Old food between the stove and the wall. Bugs in the room and the lobby smells of bug spray. The refrigerator was so iced up the freezer door wouldn't close. I sure would bring any children to this place.....

Trip Type: Romance Review 5 of 97Good for the money, nothing more
plain and simple this hotel needs to be remodeled big time. but like most, we didnt spend too much time inside the hotel. we spent most of our time at the beach. it has a great beach location. we also spent a lot of time at the lazy river (wish it was bigger. we had to move our room 2 times during our 6 night stay, one due to load construction early in the morning in the next room over, and the other time because of loud neighbors. the rooms aren't that clean, but ok for the cheap price you pay. the lobby phone lady wasnt nice and helpful, we called twice to get a bellman and she was rude and we never got someone with a cart, so we ended up lugging everything ourself.

The hotel was old and badly in need of renovations. The carpet was dirty and the room smelled. The hotel had no sprinkler system.

Our stay at the Sands Ocean Club Resport was not one that we will ever repeat. Our room was filthy when we moved into it. THere was hair in the shower, filth under the beds, and an old gumball and garbage behind the night stand. I called when we went out to have it cleaned, and they still did not clean the hair in the tub. My husband did it for me because I was too grossed out. We asked for room service several times and it never came, as well as the silverware that the desk said they'd send up, which never came. The elevators and hallways are extremely warm, which is stifling when riding with an elevator full of people to the 19th floor. Upon checking out, we requseted a bellman/cart, since they won't let people just take a cart on their own, and no one ever came. We ended up taking all of our luggage and coolers out to the car on our own. Overall, for the price we paid, even though it wasn't alot, I feel that we deserved more. We won't be booking there again.

Trip Type: With Friends Review 9 of 97Okay for the price
The hotels amenities were great (Ocean Annies, River City Cafe, Beach Access, etc.) but the room's cleanliness and housekeeping left much to be desired. Our room was never cleaned and the beds were never made during our stay. The housekeeping simply came and left towels everyday. It was an older room and had a generally dirty feel. The price was very reasonable, but staying in a dirty room was not necessarily worth it.

My family & I stayed at the Sands Ocean Resort (Aug. 2009). The rooms need to be updated with decor and furniture, our initial room had an odor, stains througout the carpet. The extras (lounge, music area) were nice & the convenience of the location to the beach was the most appetizing thing.

Trip Type: Romance Review 12 of 97Location NICE but Rooms Need Improvement
I really enjoyed all of the amneties of the hotel. Ocean Annies and the Sandals Lounge were great. However, we were expecting an ocean view room and we did not get it. Also we thought that the room could use a lot of sprucing up. Oh and the comforters had stains all over them...

If you can avoid, do it. This hotel badly needs major renovations. Even the door frame was rusted by years of neglect. The room was of good size, but it was sparsely furnished with mismatching and worn furniture. The highlight was the big flat screen and the ocean view, but even these could not hide the very bad cleaning service. In fact, we found trash from the previous guest and took three calls to get it cleaned. My daughter loved the lazy river, but that was about it. The hotel has lots of potential, but it is more suited for college kids that will spend most of the time wasted. I'd say pay a little more somewhere else and avoid the aggravation.

if you find a good "deal" then it might be worth what you pay. our room was outdated, dirty, and was in serious need of repair. the balcony was falling to pieces. we asked for a non-smoking room and the smoke from below was so strong we should have just said smoking. if your expectation is to find a resort that is affordable and you are not too worried about the cleanliness, just a bed to sleep in, then you might be alright. the pool is small and not set-up for the little kiddies.

I don't stay at this hotel for any other reason other than Ocean Annie's. Having said that and knowing that I do not expect much as far as the rooms are concerned, it took 3 tries to get me an actually clean room. Check in is not until 4 but they told me my room was ready and gave me my key at 3. I went up and the door was open, beds unmade, and trash bagged up throughout the rooom. Went back down to Ocean Annie's and returned to the room 30 minutes later. The room was still in the same condition. I asked housekeeping on the floor if they could tell me when the room would be ready only to get an attitude and no answer to my question. I went back to the front desk and told them the situation and they proceeded to get me a different room that was already ready. 15 minutes later I got a new key card and room. Went up and this one was worse than the first. Beds were unmade, cereal bowls on the counter, trash strewn about, the works. I went back downstairs and didn't even say anything... they looked at me and said "What? That room has been vacant for 3 days". They went upstairs to check the room they had given me and 20 minutes later I finally received a key card that they made sure led me to a clean hotel room. I guess 3rd time's a charm. Many guests I saw along my journey through rooms said they had similar problems. From now own... I'll stay somewhere else and drive to Ocean Annie's.
