Trip Type: Business Review 1 of 159Be careful
A very sharp hotel, wonderful hotel staff. My only problem was my prescription glasses were taken from my car after I valeted it. The hotel is not responsible for taken items and the valet responded to the complaint: not our problem, but we'll look around for them. Thanks alot. If I wanted someone to rifle through my car looking for valuables I would have left it unlocked on the street. Needless to say, the drive home was interesting since my glasses would have helped me see the road. The hotel itself couldn't have been better, but I wouldn't leave a thing in the car because you never know who might have your same prescription.

The beds/pillows were very uncomfortable. The staff was amazing and it was an excellent location!

Trip Type: Romance Review 3 of 159'Request', not a reservation
I was told my reservation was only a 'request'. It took the manager to get me the room I reserved. Beware ot this hotel.

Trip Type: Business Review 4 of 159Nice Hotel, Horrible Service
As a business traveler and business owner, I take pride in servicing my clients and understand the importance of providing a strong level of service. I might be able to provide a great service, but by not doing it in a timely mannor or showing a strong sense of customer service, I would lose many of my clients. This hotel was very nice, clean and very under staffed. The staff that was working was kind, but the poor people that work there do not have the tools to reach their potential. The property is obviously managed lean on payroll and should not demand the price with Holiday Inn Service.

Trip Type: Family Review 5 of 159Good room bad parking
The overall price of the hotel was good but they hit your wallet with parking. The sirens of the ambulances were very loud for being right next to the hospital. The area around the hotel is congested but great for shopping the Magnificent Mile. The swimming pool is very small. The hotel is nice but my husband and I felt we were not dressed nice enough. It was not a comfortable fit for our style.

Trip Type: Business Review 6 of 159Poor customer service
-They misplaced 4 boxes that were sent to the hotel that I needed for a tradeshow. They did find the boxes but only 1 hour after I arrived. -Wifi did not work in my room, (45 minutes on tech support calls and calls to front desk). Tech support recommended a wifi bridge, when it finally arrived it did not help - though I needed to put a $50 deposit on my room charge for equipment that still did not help the problem. -Recieved a wake up call at 3:33am that I did not make.

Trip Type: Special Event Review 7 of 159Nice location, only nice thing I can say
I cant say anything nice about this place other than it was located pretty close to Michigan Ave. The beds in our room were the most uncomfortable beds I have ever paid to sleep in. There was virtually no water pressure in the shower. When we did switch rooms, it was no better. I will not be returning.

Trip Type: Family Review 8 of 159NOT family friendly
We come to Chicago every year for a couple of nights. I booked the room for our family (2 adults, 2 children). The price was slightly higher than what I had paid in the past at other hotels, but this is a 4 star hote. We where dissapointed. There was no fridge or microwave in the room. Everything is extra. They had a snack-bar in the room, but a single candybar would have cost $3. The "pool" was totally tucked away behind the fitness room. It was obvious that it was not really for kids. The beds where not even queen size, and our rooms faced the Northwestern hospital. Every night the sirens woke me up at least 4 times. Don't pick this hotel. This was our worst stay EVER!!!!! You will regret it. On the other hand, the corner bakery right across the street was excellent.

Trip Type: Overnight Stay Review 10 of 159Dissappointing
I was surprised at how shabby my floor was. Not bad but certainly not what I expected. The doors in my room were sloppily painted and it has been a few years since the room was redone. That's ok but the cleanliness on the tub ledge was appalling. There was black mildew all along the edge and large chunks of caulking were missing. Dirtiest hotel room I've ever stayed in. Obviously housekeepers assigned to this room just didn't care.

Trip Type: Special Event Review 12 of 159Not your typical Wyndham
We reserved two rooms for family trip, and teh hotel was not able to accomodate request for adjoining or even same floor rooms. One room had paraphernalia left in drawers from previous guest, modestly embarrassing to explain to my son. One on occasion, front desk had no $10 bills to include in change, and another had no singles.

Trip Type: Business Review 13 of 159Very disappointing experience
The hotel definitely did not meet expectations. The front desk personnel all need training in hospitality. They were surly, rude, unhelpful and made me feel I was intruding on their time. The internet [for which you pay $12 daily] did not work for most of the 5 days I was there. Since I was there for business, I lost very valueable time. When I complained about this, the female hotel manager immediately called the Chicago police without trying to resolve the lack of internet or offer alternative solutions! The police arrived at my door and when I explained the situation to them, they told me I had a right to complain and that the manager overstepped her bounds. The hotel does not have a real lobby, just an entrance area and then a registration area. So choices were to sit in the bar and pay dearly for drinks or stay in your room. The room was also less than desirable. Bathrooms were dirty, bathtowels had frayed edges, and maid service sporadic. Sometimes the room was made at 12 noon and other days the maid did not show up until 4 pm. Room service took an hour to deliver a scrambled egg breakfast and charged $18 plus tax plus 20% service charge! All in all, most disappointed. With so many great hotels in Chicago with great locations with excellent hospitality, I recommend that you go elsewhere.

The Wyndham is in a great location and the common areas are very nice. It was also very easy to get a taxi as they were always parked across the street. However, my hotel room was a disappointment. The floor of my hotel smelled strongly of stale cigarette smoke. The room was not in the best condition with a stain on the rug, marks on the walls, tear in the bedspread and a loose/damaged outlet in the bathroom. At night there was a clicking sound that could be heard from the mechanical space in the wall. In addition, although I was on the 7th floor, street noise could be heard in room. Overall, it was somewhat of a disappointment.
