Trip Type: Overnight Stay Review 1 of 318They are making progress...
Hotel Maya has recently completed a huge, 20million dollar renovation. The workmanship and quality of materials are fantastic! I took as many pictures of hotel stonework, decorations, huge fascinating doors and details as I did of the Queen Mary docked near the property. Room was quiet and luxurious with an incredible view. My only complaints are concerned with lack of staff to help out the weary traveler. My wife and I stayed for one night before we left on a long cruise. Thus we had a lot of luggage. Quite often, nobody is available to help with luggage. So I grabbed a luggage cart and pushed our huge stack of belongings up the hill to the third building. I'm not sure what a traveler in poor physical condition might do. In defense of the employees who were on duty, they all tried so, so hard to accomodate everyone. Fantastic staff. But they were somewhat overwhelmed by the lack of enough staff to handle the load. The beautifully decorated open-air restaurant is worth the trip in itself! Very romantic and comfortable. Also, the morning breakfast buffet is plenty good. I would recommend this hotel, but don't expect to receive 4-star downtown hotel services.

Trip Type: Special Event Review 5 of 318Nice Hotel
I enjoyed my stay very much. The room was very clean and comfortable, with a beautiful view of Long Beach from the balcony. Nice and quiet. The only thing I'm not happy with is the additional cost to park your vehicle.

Trip Type: Special Event Review 6 of 318Nice Experience
We stayed here for the Long Beach Half Marathon since the other hotels recommended were booked. We had a garden view double queen room (#1312, building 1, 3rd floor). Pros: 1) I liked that we could walk to downtown via the Queensway bridge or you can take the free Passport shuttle that stops at the hotel. Or you can take the $1 Aquataxi 2) I liked that we got a room that was facing the tennis/volleyball courts so it was nice and quiet. 3) Super soft and comfortable bedding!!! Cons: 1) Had to pay for parking, which I thought was a little pricey 2) They have older AC units, so at night even with my balcony door closed, I could hear the AC from our neighbor above us. 3) I had called to request a fridge prior to our stay and when I inquired at check in, they didn't know about it. I opted not to get the fridge since they said I could use the minibar. Easily fixed but I thought with the price we paid, they should've known.

Trip Type: Special Event Review 7 of 318Exceeded my Expectations!!!
I booked my room at the Hotel Maya because I was attending an event close by. The price and location seemed great, but since I was booking my reservation online I wasn't sure what to expect. As soon as we pulled into the parking lot we were impressed! It is in a beautiful area with unbeatable views! The staff in the lobby was great, check in went so fast and easy and we were off to see our room! Which was Perfect! We were so close to the bay and the view of the city was amazing. The room was very comfortable and clean. There is a nice walking area that goes along the bay. The food at the resturant was great, and very reasonablaly priced. I think my favorite thing about the Hotel Maya was Everything! My only 2 very small complaints would be that it's very hard to find, I would advise you to get personal directions from the hotel staff before going, and my other complaint would be the $10/day parking charge. But honestly I would stay there over and over again, the extra $10 was worth it!

I took my Girl Friend to Hotel Maya and the only big problem was getting there. Very difficult directions be careful. Other than that Early Check in, went to the aquarium (free shuttle every 8 min.) walked back over the bridge and we got the deluxe king room and it was beautiful she was so impressed. The balcony and view was spectacular!!! Night time was very romantic and the both of us were sore for days. Limited to the Mexican food. I thought it was expensive but I guess we are in California right.

Trip Type: Business Review 11 of 318Great Getaway
Beautiful location on the water with great views. Fntastic continental breakfast and friendly staff. Nice decor and ammentities in room. Having traveled a lot with laptop and phones and cameras to charge it was refreshing to see a more than adequate amount of receptacles in the room to power and charge all the devices. It can be tricky getting from the main road to the hotel but once you have been in an out a couple times you know exactly where to turn.

This hotel is from the 70's, but is well maintained and the rooms been renovated. Plasma TV, very comfortable beds, iPod dock, high ceilings... nice bathroom and spacious. The location is very convenient if you are going to the convention center.
