The service was fine and the people were very nice. The beds were comfortable and the room was clean. However, the overall condition of the hotel was run down. It is an older hotel than I expected and the pool was very small, mostly for young children. The view of the ocean can only be seen by the ocean front top level rooms. Unfortunately the poolside was enclosed with landscaping so that you were not able to view the ocean at all. I would not return.

We had the bad luck of making a reservation during a special weekend event. The restaurant was full of large noisy groups and we were not able to order off the posted menu.

Disappointed

I was very disappointed in the lack of cleanliness of our hotel rooms. In one room we found a pair of tennis shoes left by a previous guest. Although it was supposed to be a non-smoking hotel, our second room smelled of heavy smoke and also contained a gift from a previous quest - a bath sponge hanging from the shower curtain! Yuck! The next day I found a prescription pill on the floor by the bed that they missed while vacuuming. Thankfully I found it before our 18 month old!! When notified, the hotel manager sent the cleaning staff to our room to spray something for the smell. They said that they couldn't find the "good stuff" but sprayed some stain remover on the carpet in hopes to eleviate the odor. It did not. They gave us gift certificates to use at the hotel but did not offer any further cleaning assistance. We bought Febreeze and clorox wipes and asked nothing further from the cleaning staff other than fresh linens. The gratuity which we would normally leave for housekeeping went to me. The pool was small. The food was delicious but overpriced. On a brighter note: The location is great and the beaches our beautiful.

Just a few steps to the beach...

The location is probably the best feature the Golden Inn has to offer.Several of the employees do not speak any English, but will lead you to believe thet want to help by having you repeat yourself several times before advising you "No English". The rooms are comfortable and clean with great views. The hotel tends to be somewhat noisy due to poorly located elevators and it seems like everyone walks past your room door all the time. The service in the restaurant was deplorable. We had breakfast on two occasions and the only service we received was being taken to our table, beyond that we needed to go to the honor bar to get our own coffee and take silverware from other tables. Breakfast averaged $40 for 2 adults, 1 child and an infant. On one occasion we decided to try lunch poolside, but were quickly advised by the grill located at the pool bar "they were too busy for pool service". We didn't need service, just food and still refused. Do not plan on being pampered and catered to at this hotel. Enjoy the proximity to the beach and cleanliness and convenience of your room while spending your dining and entertainment money somewhere else that truly appreciates your business.

average I guess....

The hotel seemed kind of drab to me. Not a lot of light or visual stimulas. I like bright cheerful places! Some of the front desk staff we dealt with didn't smile or seem friendly at all.....just doing their job. Outside at the snack bar could have used another waitress. We waited quite some time for our drinks/food. Had to go get check from waitress so we could leave. Food prices are too high! Pool is small. I probably won't stay there again or recommend it to anyone.

Great location. Golden Inn's seen better days.

Golden Inn has a great beach front location. However, the building is a little old and worn for what one might consider a "premium" lodging experience. Prices are high because of the beach front location. Staff was very helpful, and promptly switched us to a different room, after the first room was unsuitable due to a foul smell. Pool area is hopping on the weekends. Enjoyable live reggae music during the day on weekends. Cabana bar was charming, and grilled burgers outside looked good, but we didn't partake.

Should have been better for the money

The staff was helpful and the atmosphere was nice but the rooms were just okay for the amount of money.

Needs Improvement

Golden Inn Hotel looked much better on line than it actually was- it had comfortable beds, but the decor was outdated. The screen door on the patio had holes in it and it barely hung on the track.

not recommended for the money

the hotel needs work. Some vinyl panels are peeling off. Doors need painting. The bed wasn't very clean.

Great Room for the Money

The hotel was beautiful, and well kept. The room was spacious and very comfortable. One complaint was that the hotel was very loud as our room was near the main dinning hall and lobby. There were lots of kids and music that kept us up first thing in the morning and late at night.
