Trip Type: With Friends Review 1 of 182Needs improvement
The hotel is in a good neighborhood but it needs improvement. The lobby and hallways are very run down. The rooms are somewhat better and they were clean. I would stay there again but would try to find something a little nicer before I made reservations. Also, there are way too many parties there. Do not get a room facing the pool or you will have to hear the parties.

Trip Type: Romance Review 2 of 182Great Hotel
Everything was great, just fix the other lift and don't charge 10.00 for parking but even that was no big deal. Thanks for making our get away special...

Trip Type: Not Provided Review 3 of 182Good hotel, incompetent staff
We stayed for 2 nights. The staff for the first day was excellent and very helpful. The next day (our departure day) the new staff was horrible - with people waiting to check out he was chatting leisurely with a customer about where to visit, where to park his car in his visit to a nearby park, etc, and bringing up new suggestions as to where that client could go for a fun day. I could not wait any longer and threw the keys on the dest and left. Please check whom you hire!

Trip Type: Family Review 4 of 182Love this place
We have stayed in this hotel about 6 times. It is very family friendly and my teenage kids really enjoy it. It is very close to Universal Studios. The pool is awesome. It is very laid back and not stuffy at all. If you're looking for a 5 star hotel, this is not it. It's comfortable and affordable. The restaurant has great specials and the food is tasty. I don't stay anywhere else when visting that area of California!

Trip Type: With Friends Review 8 of 182Great, but parking fee?
This is a very friendly hotel. The room was clean and the service was good. It was built in the 60's and it would be great if it was refurbished to the period. Looks like it was redone in the 80's. There was plenty of space in the parking lot, so why was I charged $10/night to park in it? I was a hotel guest! I think the parking fee should have been included in the room rate. It seems like a tacky add-on, and takes the hotel down a peg. However; it was a good place to stay and the staff was responsive and professional.

Trip Type: Not Provided Review 9 of 182Had a great time
This hotel was pleasant, clean and quiet. I enjoyed the non-smoking building. The pool was clean nice and large. I would go back again if I were in the area.

Trip Type: Business Review 11 of 182Very clean and updated room
The outside is a bit dated, but the lobby is more modern. I was a little weary. The hallways were dated. The room, however, was very clean and updated. The bed was comfortable. All the room have balcony's or patio, so you can hear noises outside, not to bad though, unless you are facing the pool during pool hours. For the price and location I would stay here again.

Staff was friendly - desk clerks very helpful. Room was spotless! Each day the room was picked up and new towels brought in. Spent four nights - no complaints!

Trip Type: Romance Review 13 of 182Classic Studio City hotel.
The style is something furniture buffs and classic movie fans will adore. My wife and I loved the pool-side bar and went for a swim in the signature Sportman's Lodge pool. While we were there, we saw the cast of a very popular network TV show. We also had the opportunity to eat breakfast at the hotel restaurant, which was very tasty. Although the technology at the hotel itself is not state-of-the-art and it is rather dimly-lit in spots, it does take you back about 40 or 50 years and has an overall nostalgic atmosphere. On a scale of 1-10, I'd give The Sportsman's Lodge an 8.

Trip Type: With Friends Review 15 of 182Great Room for the Money
The hotel was a good choice for the money. The only exception was that we had to call several times for room service (i.e. need more towels: called three times). I expect they were busy as there were 3 weddings the week we stayed. The pool was very nice, however, I learned from a person that was there that they let anyone in even if they are not staying there to use the pool area. This makes it difficult to get a chair beside the pool on the weekend. Everyone including the guests were very friendly. The staff were very accommodating with the exception of having to call several times for items needed in the room. I would definitely stay again if I ever get back that way.
