Trip Type: Romance Review 1 of 14Misrepresentation
The oceanfront room sold was not in fact an oceanfront room but was an oceanview room. Deceptive advertising

Trip Type: Family Review 4 of 14Hotel needs improvement
Hotel was okay, certainly not a 3.5 star, more like a 2 or 2.5. Pros: the "kids eat free" promotion, breakfast buffet, free parking, right on the beach, within walking distance to the Coconut MarketPlace and other areas. Cons: $12/day resort fee for what you got for it, the room smelled like mildew, the pool furniture was falling apart and lacking, the pool was small, main restaraunt not open all day (only during breakfast and dinner), some guests were loud and someone tried to open the door to our room from the adjoining room in the middle of the night, which was unnerving.

Trip Type: Romance Review 7 of 14Nice service, strong mildew smell
If you stay there, move the chair away from the AC intake, the chairs have the strong smell of mildew, and it fills the whoe room if you don't. When we checked in, we tried 3 different rooms and chose the least mildewy. I can't believe how overpowering the smell was in a couple of rooms. Service was very understanding and atempted to accomodate us. My first stay in Kauai, so maybe all the hotels are like this due to the rain.

Trip Type: Not Provided Review 8 of 14my review
the room was fairly clean, there was mold around the sink in the bathroom, as well as black hairs throughout the room, on the bathroom floor and in the shower, i did not feel like whoever cleaned the room last knew what they were doing or even cleaned the shower properly. the room was overpriced for not being so clean, and there was no continental breakfast provided, the pool water was also freezing cold. you need an indoor or a heated pool.

Trip Type: Romance Review 9 of 14Needs Customer satisfaction
First night, we received a notice we had to vacate the room for two hours the next morning for routine pest extermination. Second night, we received a notice that all water would be shut off for 9 hours - toilets would not be flushable, no shower, no running water, restaurant and bar included - to replace a 30 year old hot water boiler. When I complained to management, they would not compensate us in any way except to offer me 2 small bottles of water. Nine hours is a long time with 2 people in a room to not be able to flush the toilet or wash up, never mind a shower. This was a trip of a lifetime for us and we were not getting the services for which we paid. They would not discount the room or give us any other compensation. The third night, we got a notice that the fire alarm would be tested all the next day. The room was not thoroughly cleaned before or during our stay. While packing to leave, I looked under the bed to make sure none of our belongings had gotten kicked under. I found a pair of someone else's dirty socks and an eyeliner. Under the other was a pair of heavily soiled undershorts. The coffee mugs we used each morning were not replaced, merely rinsed. There were not enough lawnchairs poolside for the number of guests and people had to wait around the perimeter for someone to leave. On a positive note, the hotel was on a beach, beautiful view, and I saw whales from my blacony. The beach was unswimmable as are many on that island.

Trip Type: Overnight Stay Review 10 of 14Disappointed
I stayed at the hotel at the beginning and end of my trip. The night I arrived (9hrs of flying) they had turned off the water to the hotel. Their consulation for not being able to take a shower or flush the toilet was a free bottled water. When I asked if there would be any adjustment to my room rate they gave me a continental breakfast buffet coupon. The night I stayed at the end of my trip was complicated by a senior citizen convention. The woman that checked us in gave our three party group a queen bed room after I had paid extra money for our third party. When I drew her attn to this, she said she could send up a roll away bed. Only when I refused and asked to speak with a supervisor was I given a room with two beds. I would not recommend nor stay with a Resort Quest company again.

Trip Type: Family Review 13 of 14Nice hotel, but.....
... A/C unit died at 4am, kept on turning unit off and on every few seconds. This was very loud and drove us nuts! Unit would not even shut off. We called front desk and got wrong instructions to reset thermostat. We were told maintenance personnel would be in at 7am to repair. Called again at 7am to confirm when they would be arriving, was told that a monk seal had washed up on the beach and that area needed to be roped off first... Did not show up until 7:45am. Our "maint. fee" for the room was waived.... Bottom line: this is a nice hotel, but the fees and costs are very pricey, typical of Hawaii. 'Aloha' attitude is prevalent, therefore too lacking in customer service. Restaurant food is good, but also very expensive.

Trip Type: Overnight Stay Review 14 of 14Dust mites damage impression
Our room looked great but contained dust mites judging by our familiar and specific allergic response. This was a large dissapointment, set back to our vacation, and eliminated all positive aspects of the hotel which was otherwise pleasurable, being well appointed, attended, and maintained.
