Sand in the bed

Not very clean...there was sand in the bed when we arrived! Also weird bathroom set up

needs improvement

The humidity was extreme so much so that the carpets and tile floor were consistetly wet, despite air conditioning. The hotel obviously needs an overhaul--mold was in the picture frames--again the humidity--and investment in a dehumifier for the hotel would save money in the long run. Bureau drawers were broken. Needs a better door than the old metal one to the bathroom and the balcony; also needs a screen door to the balcony. A major problem also: the hotel failed to notify anyone or post note in elevator that a Shriners' convention would be in front of the hotel, blocking all exit from the hotel--and checkouts--making it highly likely that one would miss his/her plane connection. A real boo-boo that easily could have been avoided. In sum--this hotel needs a lot of work and is not a place to stay if you have allergies or asthma (mold! lack of fresh air)

Dirty, smells bad, run down

I was not expecting much, its a beach hotel but what I got was horrible, first room was filthy, beds had sand in them indicating the sheets had not been changed, they did move me to another room next door, it did have clean sheets on one of the beds, the other only had a bottom sheet. The blankets are gross, if you walk on the floor without shoes your feet tum black. The hallways smell like mildew. the bathroom was clean. I was here on business, for a beach vacation I would spend a few extra dollars and go somewhere else.

Needs improvement.

Cracked toilet seat in my room. Tight spaces. Requested queen bed, checked into room with two double beds.

poor performance

we would not recommend. The hotel did not feel clean, the rooms were old and needed work, there was water damage in our room where the wallpaper was falling off the wall, airconditioning could not be adjusted, fan in bathroom was loud and did not do anything to decrease humidity in that room -- very dirty, beds were hard, the pillows were terrible -- glad we were there for only one night. would not recommend to anyone very dissatisfied for the money we spent.

Good room at a discounted price

This is an older hotel. I would not pay full price to stay. When I return to Virginia Beach, if the price is right, I would consider staying again. It is definitely in a convenient location!

smoking in room

good location as advertised. a bit shabby. (rant!) my room on 4th floor had been treated with deodorant to cover odor of smoke. and there was a card on the table which labeled the room as a "non-smoking" room and indicated a $50 fine for violations. asked at the front desk i was told it was a "smoking room." they had no record of my request for non-smoking room. i would not stay there again.

The hotel is very dated and smelled like old feet. For the price we could have stayed somewhere nicer. The pictures on the site were much nicer than the hotel. It was great having a room on the ocean view was great. I wouldnt stay there again. The people who work there were very nice. Only one elevator ment you waited a while. Breakfast was the high point. So that doenst say much

Okay for a short stay

This was a one night stay for the Patriotic Festival and was convenient to this and all attractions to Virginia Beach. The room was not very clean and smelled bad. It also was not handicapped accessible at all with a small ledge at the door and narrow halls and door frames.

Needs alot of upkeep & more security precautions

We found the hotel to be very dirty. There was food encrusted on the furniture from previous guests. We questioned whether or not the linens had been changed. Everything was filthy! Our rooms keys had to recoded 6 times in a 1night stay - very inconvenient. I was also disappointed in the hotels security or lack of it. Doors to every level of the parking garage were left unlocked and open so anyone could come in off the street right onto your floor. There was no chain or extra security device on the door other than the deadbolt. The free breakfast was terrible. The cream cheese they had out had curdled. The hotel may hav been nice back in the 70's but it's way past it's prime and they don't seem to be doing a whole lot to bring it up to date or maintain it. I spoke with mgmt regarding some of these issues and was dismissed. They didn't even offer an apology for anything.
