Trip Type: Romance Review 1 of 218Satisfying stay - As expected for an older Virginia Beach hotel.
This is an older hotel that hasn't seen much renovation, but it certainly met our expectations for a weekend beach stay. Oceanfront balcony space is adequate to relax and our room was comfortable and clean. Lobby and hallways are drab and there is a weird atrium mall area that is straight out of the 70s. Staff was pleasant and the included breakfast had a good selection and was served in a nicely renovated breakfast room.

Trip Type: Romance Review 2 of 218Great view for the price
Was overall satisfied with the experience. Awesome price for oceanfront top floor king sized! Balcony seemed a tad small for me, but good view of the heart of the Stip to Rudee Inlet. Room was an upgrade at no extra charge! (The trip was in the off season and capacity maybe 60%??) Thick walls added to quiet. Service was friendly and warm, and free coffee 24/7 in the lobby was a comfort as the weather got chillier. Close to eateries and shopping within a few blocks. Pool area looked well maintained and most of the lobby and first floor are a small mall of sorts. Parking ramps and floors were tight even when deserted, a larger vehicle should use caution. I definitely recommend this as a tight family income getaway spot.

I was very happy with the hotel. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Although I asked for a smoking room, there are plenty of things that you can do to make sure the room doesn't smell like a bar. Other than that, it was great

great location; room was really small; both condition and maintenance of hotel need improvement; for what I got, I think I payed too much.

Trip Type: Not Provided Review 6 of 218Go After Labor Day
Traveled after labor day and the value was great. The view from the balcony was wonderful and the resturants on the broadwalk had something good for every budget. We'll be back same time same place next year.

Trip Type: Business Review 9 of 218Good for the price
Have stayed here and The Seagull now this summer. Both are fine oceanfront hotels for those on a budget. Anyone used to 4 and 5 stars i wouldnt recommend. Close to the pier and carnival

The hotel itself is a little out of date but nothing offensive. The ocean view was great minus plastic lawn chairs on the tiny balcony. The staff was very nice and helpful. The room was clean and I would stay again. The free breakfast is kind of a mob scene but worth it I guess.

Trip Type: Overnight Stay Review 14 of 218Great stay for a great price
The Sandcastle Oceanfront Resort Hotel while not a resort was a good value for the price. The room was decent and the kids loved being right on the boardwalk. All in all, I'd stay there again. One thing that was completely lacking however was the free "deluxe continental breakfast." This breakfast was about as far from deluxe as I could have ever imagined. Not only was the food bad, but it was completely devoid of nutrition. All white flour/simple carbohydrates. The closest thing to healthy was the raisin bran...they didn't even have a non-sugar cereal. So, all in all go ahead and stay there for a good rate, but just plan on eating breakfast somewhere else.
