Trip Type: Family Review 1 of 19Pool Closed in JULY!
I booked this hotel because the pool is on the roof for my 4 & 6 year olds. When they got up there in their bathing suits, it was empty! I was extremely upset, plus 4 blocks from the French Quarter doesn't sound like a lot, but it really is (especially with kids). For the price, I would get something farther south or in the French Quarter.

Trip Type: Romance Review 2 of 19Overpriced and Underserved
The hotel is nice, but not worth the price we paid. The service was mediocre throughout our 3 day stay. One example - the television never worked, and despite 3 separate complaints, including to the manager, all they would say was, "It's the cable company, there's nothing we can do, sorry." No empathy. In fact I felt like I was imposing on them to bring it to their attention. This was typical of our overall experience. For the price, try the Ritz-Carlton.

Trip Type: Family Review 4 of 19Decent, but could be better maintained
Staff was pleasant and accommodating. We stayed on the 6th floor and the hallway had a musty, unpleasant smell...fortunately it did not permeate into our room. Room needed some updating...had a bit of a weathered look, pealing paint, toilet tissue holder falls out of the wall, and dirty exterior windows...but is was clean and acceptable. We only had breakfast in the hotel restaurant. It was above average, but not excellent. Front desk was backedup a number of times...not enough staff. Also had to wait a few minutes for the Concierge because they were doing double duty checking in guests.

Trip Type: Special Event Review 5 of 19Beautiful Hotel
Room and bath were cramped and beautifully appointed. The sheets were too small for the mattress which was not the most comfortable I've had.

Trip Type: Special Event Review 7 of 19Five Star Service but One Star Property
The pictures online are far better looking than the hotel. Granted, the lobby and public areas are very beautiful, the rooms leave a lot to be desired. Each room does not have individual air conditioners. YOu can control air speed but not temp. We couldn't get it below a balmy and humid 75! Built in 1907, seems as though some things haven't been updated since them but. . . . the service was great but not worth the hype and we wouldn't stay here again . . . also, a pretty good little walk to Bourbon Street and the neighborhood didn't feel that safe late at night. . .

Trip Type: Business Review 8 of 19Wonderful hotel ... great southern charm ....
Restaurant was great ... breakfast is fantastic..... great lady (her name escapes me) is famous for her breakfast buffets. Wonderful southern charm. Staff is amazing and so kind and generous and helpful. You never feel pressured like they are waiting for tips or anything. Ofcourse that doesn't mean to treat these wonderful people right, but it's just so genuine.

Trip Type: Special Event Review 9 of 19Room was very tired!
The hotel employees were very helpful! Our room was disappointing. It looked like it had not been updated in a very long time.

Trip Type: Romance Review 10 of 19Very Overrated
Uncomfortable room, very old. Smelled musty. The bed was really hard and uncomfortable. Outdated TV set. Extremely noisy if you are anywhere near the pool area or vending/ice machine (thin walls). Pool and hot tub were very cloudy. I wanted to like this hotel, but it was hard.

Trip Type: Not Provided Review 11 of 19Management Refused to Adjust Bill for Broken A/C
Hotel boasts historic, old-world charm and grace. The lobby and room furnishings are lovely and quaint. However, the hotel is OLD, not well maintained, as rooms smell dank, old and musty, and the air conditioning was not operating at all in my room (3/28-29/08), which was verified by hotel maintenance engineer. Hotel manager refused to adjust price for broken A/C or to make any accommodation for our discomfort and inconvenience. Not exactly southern hospitality or what you would expect from a 4 star hotel. My advice -- stick with the bigger names and avoid this hotel!! C.B. -- Ft. Lauderdale

Trip Type: Special Event Review 14 of 19Needs Improvement
During our 3 night stay, we received maid service only 2 of the days. We called several times but they were"too busy" that day. During our first night, the smoke alarm in our room went off 3 times while we were sleeping. Finally, maintenance came to the room in the middle of the night and removed the alarm (as it was hard wired and was not a battery needing replacement). The service recovery skills of the staff were poor - no apologies and no perks. Other than these two very diappointing events and the fact that the rooms are small, the hotel is lovely, the Christmas decorations beautiful and the breakfast buffet wonderful.

This is a 4 star building that is lacking repairs. The staff is not well trained and service is poor. I would not recomend this hotel to others. My stay was not satisfactory. The air conditioning was very noisy. I waited more than once while staff took care of personal business. Not just several seconds but several minutes.
