Trip Type: Romance Review 4 of 12Would recommend if they bought new beds!
Hubby and I spent 6 nights in this hotel. I do not need anything fancy from a hotel as long as it's clean and comfortable. Although the cleanliness was OK, the bed was very uncomfortable. After the second night we complained so housekeeping put a few extra mattress pads on the bed. That made it a little more comfortable, but I sure was glad to get back to my own bed. The location of this hotel is good, just a few short blocks from the beach. We also enjoyed the poolside bar within the hotel. The staff were friendly and accommodating. The views are not fabulous but it's definitely worth the $10 per day upgrade to keep from staring at the run-down apartments next door.

Trip Type: Not Provided Review 5 of 12Rooms need some touch-ups
The hotel is in a pretty good location although the main strip in front is frequented by prostitutes late at night....The rooms are typical but need some upgrading especially a coat of paint!

Trip Type: Not Provided Review 6 of 12Ehhh, it does the job....
Nothing great, I am the type of person who wants to be able to enjoy the hotel room and feel a bit pampered. Not so here, maybe they put me in an extra low budget room, but it was outdated, basic, and sort of noisy.

Trip Type: Not Provided Review 9 of 12Great Location but that's about it
This hotel has a great location, one block away from the beach and the hotel personnel was always friendly. Besides that, I can't say anything else positive. The elevators took forever or didn't work, even though there are three of them. The bed was very hard and uncomfortable, small room and outdated, the pool was small. Yes, there is a $18 nightly parking fee. Given what I know now, I would not have stayed at this hotel, especially given what we paid to stay there for 9 nights.

Trip Type: Special Event Review 10 of 12Needs Improvement
During my 3 Days in Waikiki I stayed in both the Ohana Waikiki West. The Ohana hotel was older and not well maintained. Upon arrival the walls along the hallways had holes. It was as if someone had punched threw the wall... It was not just a few but nearly every wall had holes. The room some what unsatisfying and featured a 19" Tube TV from the 90's and the Bed sheets were thin and uncomfortable. The bathroom area was small and the sink was from the 60's. I would not recommend this hotel for the price.

Trip Type: With Friends Review 11 of 12Low Budget Hotel in Seedy Area in Paradise
I recently stayed at the Ohana Waikiki West hotel during Pro Bowl week. Since it's a popular week for tourists, room rates are generally higher than usual. So, the price for Ohana Waikiki West was comparatively more affordable. However, after my stay, I wish I had spent the extra money for a better hotel. The hotel is in need of renovations. Our in-room safe had to be replaced as the original one was not working properly and the mirrored closet door fell off the track and wouldn't open or close. Worst of all, the 3 elevators in the building do not operate properly. I stayed on the 4th floor and the elevator constantly dropped me off on the 5th floor. Also, since you need to use your card key to operate the elevator, if you didn't slide it in quick enough (or if it didn't read your card, as it often times did), the elevator would just bring you up to a floor where guests were waiting for an elevator. It was very annoying and I usually opted to take the stairs. I thought the location was okay since it was only about 2 blocks away from Waikiki Beach. However, the hotel is on a street frequented by "streetwalkers" and rowdy club/bar goers. The sounds of yelling and police sirens could often be heard through our balcony (closed) window. All in all, I would not recommend this hotel to anyone -- especially not to families or anyone looking for a relaxing, quiet vacation. If you're on a tight budget and don't mind a rowdy atmosphere, view of scantily-clad women and broken elevators, this might be okay.
