Trip Type: Not Provided Review 2 of 16Had issues
At midnight a loud, barking dog woke us up. We called the front desk. They couldn't have cared less. Later, when we checked out, they were still unsympathetic. The bathroom door did not close. THe door frame was too far from the door. The TV did not have Fox News, the number 1 cable news program in the country. When we discussed out concerns upon checking out, they were dismissive and really showed a lack of caring. We will never stay at a Kimpton hotel again.

Trip Type: Business Review 4 of 16TV didn't work, great steak frites
The TV in my room was too snowy for viewing; I complained and an engineer was sent to my room while I was away; still too snowy to watch. Best steak frites and merlot this side of the Atlantic!

Trip Type: Not Provided Review 5 of 16Not happy! Wasn't clean!
I love Kimpton Hotels. I stay in them all the time. So, I was excited to stay in this one. However, there were many things wrong. Those at the front desk were not welcoming. The curtains were not functioning properly and had pins holding them back. The sink was not secured tightly and thus the faucet wobbled. The finial on the lampshade was not connected and thus the lampshade fell off when I tried to adjust the thermostat behind the lamp. I mentioned this all upon check out and the girl behind the front desk mentioned they would be renovating soon. Ok, so nice excuse, I thought. But then, I mentioned that the night lounge that doubles as a breakfast place was dirty. The floor was filthy. My morning newspaper stuck to the breakfast table. They hadnt even bothered to wipe the table down. All of this boils down to the fact that the employees don't care about their work space. And that comes from a lack of leadership in management there. Great location and if they renovate even better. However, I do not recommend this place until management addresses the employee morale & work ethic and they clean the place up!

Trip Type: Business Review 6 of 16surprisingly tacky, run-down
The room was less-than-clean (toilet especially, yikes) and things in general were a bit dirty and run down. There was no coffee maker in the room. I requested one, and they brought it. Location was great for me -- very close to Dupont Circle, and an easy walk to the White House. As for the decor and vibe: I found it tacky and trashy rather than hip and funky. The zebra patterned bathrobes, for example, might have been cool if they hadn't been totally worn out and threadbare - gross. Be aware that the bar gets very loud with very very drunk, very very loud people. In NYC we'd call this the bridge-and-tunnel crowd. Front desk is very chipper. Intentions are good. But the overworked tacky design doesn't make up for the lack of basic cleanliness and amenities, at least in my book.

Trip Type: Not Provided Review 7 of 16Needs help up front
The staff was overwhelmed at registration, I had to go get someone out of the administration office to help the poor lonely fellow at the front. I noticed this same issue throughout my stay over the two days. The phone did not work, the TV did not work, the remote control for the CD player did not work. The bathroom was a closet, smallest bathroom I have seen in a hotel in quite awhile. The edges of the bed stand are torn up something awful, it appears that the vacuum cleaner is getting the best of the bed. Not impressed with the place, maybe I am spoiled by staying at Hiltons and Sheraton's.

Trip Type: Romance Review 8 of 16Needs WORK!!!!
First I do want to comment on how outstanding the service and employees are there. That is the only reason we stayed through the week. However the room we had had a running toilet, broken cable box so the channel kept switching back to the hotel channel. Broken lock on mini bar, mildew hotel tub liner, hot water tank broke so we had cold showers..employees did give us a discount. And we had to get out key cards recharged 3 times due to them not working. A real pain to find out after exhausted from walking all day and having to go back down. oh and we rented wii games and one was missing and one didn't play. however all these problems and still service was so excellent our trip wasn't ruined. We wouldn't stay again when so many others are available.

Trip Type: With Friends Review 10 of 16It was an ok hotel
The hotel did not advise us about the cost for valet parking and it was outrageous. Added a significant amount to the bill for a 2 night stay. Don't plan on staying there again.

Trip Type: Business Review 11 of 16Needs Improvement
Two of the front desk people were less than helpful. One woman always seemed to be mad at people's requests, and upon checking out I noticed that the parking charges had been applied to me and to my co-worker. The man at the counter at the time did not seem to know how to handle the adjustment and just kept on saying that that amount of a refund was more than he could do. He also asked if we had more than one car (which we did not) because that would have explained things-- it seemed as if he was just hoping for the easiest solution so that he would not have to handle the question. Finally Nic came out and handled the parking charges.

So, the directions are wrong to get to the hotel. Fun when it's downtown DC and you have the pleasure of fighting with diagonals. The stereo was broken in the room. I wasn't too upset, things break. It happens. I stuck my head in the mini-fridge later and discovered the last guest had taken a swig of an orange juice, stuck it back in the fridge and the hotel staff hadn't noticed. Disgusting. Then they charged my card for using the honor bar. I called to get it straightened out and no one was in accounting, so I asked the front desk if there was someone else I could speak with. The lady at the front desk said, "Ma'am, I have 5 other guests in front of me right now, what do you want me to do?" Points to the hotel for eventually giving me my money back, but would I want this to happen to someone else? No way.

Hotel is trendy, staff is decent, but is a bit too pricey for the accommodations.

I have stayed in two other Kimpton hotels in the DC area, and have found them to be maintained at a higher level. The service was excellent, with all employees willing to help in any way. However the condition of the room left much to be desired. Torn curtains, loose plumbing. I felt that this was a room that was designated for discount booking. As I said, two other Kimpton hotels are much nicer and much more convenient to metro areas.

Trip Type: Special Event Review 15 of 16Old & Funky
Funky Euro-type Hotel. Friendly staff, funky decor that is aging, carpet & wallpaper need to be replaced but art is great. No restaurant and can only get coffee by room service. Shower had NO water pressure.
