Trip Type: Family Review 5 of 16Large room, full service, great shuttle
Convenient full service with rare triple room and frequent shuttle to rail station. Computers available for use in 10 minute sessions. Pool is very expensive. Must use safe at front desk.

Trip Type: With Friends Review 6 of 16Hotel services were great
Hotel is a little old, but still at par with the other newer ones. Customer service were great and hotel was clean. Tea is also available in the room for free. Shuttle bus pick up from Kyoto station was very helpful, although the last pick up is at 9pm. If you go to the overpass to go across the street there are great places to eat there, about a 10 minute walk. Another option would be to ride the shuttle bus to the station, and you can eat and shop there.

Trip Type: Family Review 9 of 16Good deal
The hotel is about 3 blocks from the train station. The staff spoke good English and were helpful. The area doesn't have many restaurants or shopping, but there is a convenience store about two blocks away. Internet access is extra, just like most other hotels in Japan. The only drawback is that their are train tracks right across the street which can be heard in the room, but they stop running late at night.

Trip Type: Family Review 10 of 16Excellent Service
Classic Japanese hospitality and attention to detail and service make this hotel a great choice for anyone from tourists to business travelers. English-speaking guest relations desk is really valuable and useful. It's quiet, classy and comfortable.

Trip Type: Not Provided Review 11 of 16Great hotel
The Righa Royal was superb, especially for the deal we got on the rate through hotels.com. It is convenient to all of Kyoto through the neighboring Kyoto station with connection to the extensive bus system and subway. While it would have been nicer to the city center for the surrounding ambiance, you can't beat the location in terms of easy accessibility to the tourist spots. The room was comfortable, exceptionally clean, and large for Japanese rooms. The bed was a bit on the firm side, but that's pretty minor. The staff was very helpful with everything from late night dinner spots to faxes back and forth to the States.

Trip Type: Romance Review 13 of 16Economy Hotel
Great hotel for budget travelers. Food within the hotel restaurants are expensive. Beds need improvement for they are a bit hard for my preference. On the positive side, the hotel is close to the Kyoto station which is close to transportation, shopping, and food. They have a complimentary shuttle to and from the Kyoto Station which is very helpful if guests are carrying heavy luggages.

A colleague and I spent two very comfortable nights at the Rihga Royal Hotel in Kyoto, and I highly recommended it to those visiting the area. The rooms are quite nice--clean, large, and comfortable.
