Trip Type: Not Provided Review 1 of 17Okay, but not worth the money.
Beautiful hotel, but doesn't have a lot to offer for the price. Sheets and pillowcases in the room had stains on them, TV remote would not function properly. Valet service truly needs improvement. We payed quite a bit for overnight parking, and it took them almost an hour to bring our car to us when we needed to leave. When we asked to find out what was taking so long, we got tossed back and forth between bell hop and front desk, with no answers.

Trip Type: Special Event Review 2 of 17poor service
After reserving our room at the Fairmount I called to request a crib, refrigerator and adjoining or at least a close room to friends of ours. While I know these things cannot be guaranteed the person I spoke with on the phone assured us that she had lined up 2 rooms together and the crib wouldn't be a problem but the refrigerator was first come first served, which I totally understand. We arrived early for check in and if we were willing to wait we could have our adjoining room so we waited. When we finally did check in we were 3 floors away. The front desk had told our friend that we insisted on checking in early so they had to move our room. After waiting for our room they told us that it was our friend who insisted on checking in early so we were moved. Neither of us checked in until after 3 pm. After getting to our room it took 45 minutes for them to bring our bags up, a separate call to get the crib (which they informed me that it was my responsibility to remind the front desk to call housekeeping). Other than that, the hotel was clean and in a good location for what we wanted to do. We will stay elsewhere next time as it is not a kid friendly place. (which it does not bill itself to be, so not their fault..)Probably would be nice for a couple. Keep in mind that parking at the hotel is $49/night and a continental breakfast is $19/person.

Trip Type: With Friends Review 3 of 17Great Chicago location, but...
We stayed at the Fairmont two Saturday's in a row, and both stays were disappointing. We had to call the hotel prior to each stay and both times it took the hotel 30-40 minutes to answer their phone. For the price, we expected nicer decor (it looked cheaply done); more comfortable beds-the mattresses were too soft and the sheets too hard-pillows weren't comfortable either; a more accomodating front desk staff. Our friends who were also there on the same dates will undoubtably add similar comments.

Trip Type: Business Review 4 of 174 Star Hotel with 2 Star Service
Room not ready at 5:00pm, had to pay more to get a room that was. Forget about free shoe shines; the shoes will stay in the hall forever.

Trip Type: Romance Review 5 of 17Inconsistent service
The room was clean and comfortable. The bellman and concierge provided outstanding service. The front desk and the business center were not helpful. The hotel has no place for a normal sit down breakfast, just a continental buffet in the lobby bar. The hotel could not accommodate an early check in request and in fact did not provide an available room until 3 hours after standard check in times, and only provided the room at that time because of a complaint. For the money, you should be able to get better service. Given the number of hotels in Chicago, you may want to look elsewhere.

Trip Type: Business Review 7 of 17Poor service needs improvement
The hotel didn't have our room available. Me and a business partner had to share a room with a king sized bed with a roll away cot in the corner room was non smoking after smoking had been specified and no one in the hotel seemed to care. Maid never came to the room. Overall poor service whe checked out a day early and went to a different hotel.

Trip Type: With Friends Review 8 of 17Chicago Fairmount
I've stayed in other Fairmount hotels what I would consider nearly very nice. The Chicago hotel is extremely dated. They are working on it but it would have been nice to know that before our visit.

Trip Type: With Friends Review 9 of 17Disappointed
We paid extra for an extra person, but no accommodations were made for them: no extra towels, bed, room size, etc. They charged us $20 per person to use the pool next door after being told it was $20 per room. We were supposed to get an upgrade and didn't. Lousy view for the expense. We were told because we required 2 dble beds instead of a king, we didn't get a water view. No free coffee; we did ask for and got a pot, but no amenities unless we called down for them. No complimentary breakfast everything very pricey. Hotel very hard to find. The carpet and shower were dirty and moldy. Very disappointed for the price.

Trip Type: Special Event Review 12 of 17Not enough staff!
There were not enough people to help when you needed them. They take your bags and put them back in this room, I needed to get to my stuff because our room wasn't going to ready in time for me to change there. I was almost late for my football game.

Trip Type: Romance Review 14 of 17Ouch!
At check -in, the jackhammers were going strong, and the only encouragement we received from the staff was that it would be done by 8:00pm, we were only staying for the 1 day, and they acted like it was no big deal. We did not need an alarm clock, as the loud cleaning crew in the hallway woke us up before 8:00 am. A bad experience all the way around.

We got there after 3:00pm on Friday July 6, 2007 we were told our room would not be ready for an hour. We had an appointment in an hour and wanted to freshen up. They offered us a suite with one bed and a roll away. There were two of us and we did not want to sleep together or on a roll away. It took 20 min for us to get a room. It was dirty- the carpets and shower were very dirty. They comforter on one bed was terribly stained and the pillows were awful. We were given no washcloths and only one bathtowel the next day. There was no toilet paper in the room. When we ran out it took over two hours for someone to bring up one roll. Because I booked on your website, the hotel was not able to give me a discount or reimburse me.
