We were first given a room on the 2nd floor in the "old" section of the hotel. Upon our arrival the room had a mold/mildew odor. We then went back to the front desk and were told that we could pay to upgrade to the new tower. After 10 min of disscusion they finally changed our room to the 3rd floor of the "old" section. This room was clean, however it was smaller then the first room. Other then the problem with the room, the rest of our stay was good. Nice pool, very nice area of town, 2 miles from beach.

Trip Type: Romance Review 4 of 28Nice Location but a Little Rundown
This hotel is nice for older people or families. The location can't be beat but some of the rooms (especially in the "old" wing) need a bit of work.

Trip Type: Romance Review 6 of 28Terrible Service
I live locally and needed a hotel for night. The hotel which is in the best location by the way is under construction but that is not the problem. It took 15 minutes to valet the car. The check in person was clueless. The service was horrible. The A/C is old school and does not work well Old Historic Hotel. No modern convience but more importantly horrible service

Trip Type: With Friends Review 7 of 28Old Charm, Fading Fast
Unfortunately, our two-day stay was marred by several factors: the bathtub never drained properly , despite visits from the staff, and so we had to take showers in several inches of standing water; the water in the bathroom was a sickly yellow-brown color, and when we complained were were told it was due to the lighting the bathroom (?!??); the pool was old and shabby and there wasn't a server in sight. To compound this, there were 2 weddings in the hotel - which was fine until the drunken guests kept running up and down the hall and screaming and slamming doors at 2 am...and 4 am...and 4:30 am...and then a completely different set of guests started yelling their breakfast plans down the hall to each other. You cannot blame the hotel for the guests behavior, but you can blame them for all-tile hallways, which while charming, echo every sound the the hall quite loudly. And you can blame them for the 2 inch gap from the door frame to the floor, which allows everyone to hear clearly everything in the hall. When we asked to be moved to a different room we were told that the hotel was sold out, but we were offered no other compensation. At this point, enough things have racked up to do something nice for a guests. A glass of wine might not have gotten me a decent night's sleep, but at least I might not mind as much that my bathwater was the same color as the chardonnay.

Trip Type: Business Review 8 of 28Old Hotel Needs a Makeover
The air conditioning unit was stuck on high and the only choice was to unplug it. The plug for computer awkward. The bathroom was quite small. The room service food was good. The staff was kind.

Trip Type: Family Review 9 of 28needs improvement,
It was hotel in a good location downtown. They gave us a room in an old building, which had very poor ventilation and I smelled fungi. The air conditioner did not work properly and the shower head did not work. When i called maitenance, they responded quickly but the shower head still did not work properly.Average hotel and expensive for the money.

Trip Type: Not Provided Review 10 of 28Don't get fooled by the Riverside Hotel
This was a total disappointment. Do not take the lower or lowest rate room - they'll put you in the old wing of the hotel - these rooms are Third World quality at best! The valet is a rip off and I understand the Hotel owns the whole block of retail shopes which are now closed due to a pending expansion of the Hotel. The service staff were professional and the food quality was very good, but the physical condition of the property leaves much to be desired.

Trip Type: Special Event Review 11 of 28Parking & Ice Machines Needs improvement
There is no free parking at the hotel. There is an $18 per night lot at the hotel, and valet service for $23.00 per night. No off street parking for more than 4 hours at a time, and not at all during the hours of 3 am and 7 am. We had a traditional room on the 5th floor, the nearest ice machine was on the 3rd floor, a bit inconvenient...

Trip Type: Business Review 12 of 28humid hot room, refused to give me a hotel reciept, the tv burned up
The entrance is beautiful. The location is perfect. The building historic. But do not get fooled by this first impression. First the room was so humid and so hot one could not breathe in it. The air was so old and loud. The front desk gave us another room. The hotel smells dingy and the hairdryer was so old, I did not feel it was safe to use it. Everything looks a bit run down. The bed was probably the worst I ever experienced in a hotel in 10 years. There were large bumps in it, it was very hard and tilted to one side. It was good enough to stay one night. To stay here for vacation - never. Would never stay here again!!!

Trip Type: Overnight Stay Review 13 of 28Needs Improvement
I only stayed for one day, but the bathroom drain was clogged. Valet staff also allowed us to carry bags to the garage without advising us that the garage could only be accessed via an elevator in the hotel lobby.

On the brochure of the hotel it showed a nice picture of a room overlooking the river. Our room overlooked the top of a roof and the room was very, very small. Our room was located right next to the elevator which we heard all night long.
