The Florida Hotel and Conference Center at the Florida Mall

Not at all what we expected!

For the money we paid, we didn't expect to have to pay additional fees for internet or to have to park half a mile away from the hotel! Hidden fees on top of the hotels.com rates were completely unexpected and unreasonable. The rooms are much smaller and less luxurious than places I've stayed at for a lot less!

Missing my shoes - not a happy camper

Sorry to say that a pair of my shoes were taken from my room during my stay at this hotel. Why my shoes for God's sake? Didn't make any sense. The Security called me back after several calls and told me they did not find my shoes. They checked in with house keeping and no one saw my shoes. I suppose my shoes just decided to walk out without my feet. Sad, real sad. No one at the hotel seems to care that this has happened. They make it seem like there is nothing they can do in the meantime, I kept going back to "it's the principle of it" not the fact that it's only a pair of shoes. I would make sure that if you decide to stay at the hotel, lock your stuff up under lock & key. It would be nice to have you send this survey directly over to the hotel. They should know this is not good PR.

they suck

They charge you a resort fee every day. also the Cleaning of the room is awful, very late in the day and the dont really clean the room, they just change the bed and towels.

You'll get additional charges!!!

This hotel resorts to the 'fine print' trick to charge you over $12 a day on top of your reservation's rate for service charges (two bottles of 50cents water and internet). The charge does not appear when you make the reservation or at check-in. At check out you are hit with the charge and the manager isn't very nice about it (apparently they are tired of the same complaint). There are better hotels that are better situated (15+ miles to Disney)and closer to the action!

customer service lacking

great hotel, great room, but the customer service was not the best, the room was great for the money until they slip you a charge the next day called a resort fee. This is not a resort, its far from a resort, its just a hotel, and I do not understand how they feel that they can get away with charging a fee for services like a gym and the two bottles of water that they leave in the room..... Also I only stayed for one night and when I checked out their employee reswiped my card and charged me for an additional night. When I had realized what had happened I contacted the hotel and spoke to the manager, when he had pulled up my check in/out paper work, he noticed that the second day was not the same signature and stated that obviously it was a mistake and that he doesnt know how it happened, but they will not be refunding me for the second night so i need to take it up with my credit card company. I will not stay there again. so for those of you that choose to< good luck and keep an eye out on your card and transactions.

Roaches in our room

At the current rate we at least expected a clean room. However, it was not clean and we had to chase roaches all night. Although we mentioned this to hotel staff, the maganer did not take our concerns into considerarion. We wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone.

Stay away from this one!

Not only is this hotel old and poorly kept, it is in a very inconvenient location and attached to a mall with a poor selection of stores (that are still in business). Furthermore, the hotel added additional charges to our room for things that we did not use, like bottled water and Internet access.

Sneaky fees

The hotel was nice, comfortable, clean and safe. What I didn't appreciate was that upon check out there was an $11.00 per day "Hotel Service Fee" plus 2 other "local" taxes I didn't know about. That would have made a difference of another choice of hotel. I don't mind paying fees, but they were not in the original booking, but in fine print afterwards, nor, at check in at the hotel, does anyone mention them. It would have been considerate, professional and responsible of the hotel to mention them-before- the bill arrived under the door the morning of check out.

Hidden Fees

The hotel overall was ok, but I was taken by surprise when I received a bill for an additional $25.00 on the day of our checkout. We prepaid for the room and it was never mentioned to us even upon checkin that there was going to be an additional fee for ammenities that we never used i.e the business and conference center . That was very dissappointing!!!

very deceiving!

Very nice hotel but they do not tell you, you will be charged $11.00 per day for "complimentary" water bottles, soap, shampoo, in room cofee,etc.. we never use in room drinks or food or shampoo due to past experiences(3.00 for a bottle of water)just like this. Complaining about the surcharge will do you no good! they will refuse to remove it and even justify the charges. basically the surcharges put me in a different price category and could have stayed in a much nicer place for what I had to pay. Use the valet- cost @ $10.00 a day but keeps you from walking a mile!

Needs Improvement

The beds were awesome and the room overall looked beautiful. Unfortunately the tiles on the walls of the shower had hairs on them - not mine. And the faucet appeared to be broken - I could never locate hot water, although the next morning my daughter got some.

Clean Hotel too far from attractions

We had a very hard time finding the hotel since the street address was different than the actual address. We had to park very far away and drag all of our luggage through a very busy mall parking lot. The room was very clean and comfortable and we feel as if we got our money's worth. The hotel was a little too far away from the attractions for our family.
