Trip Type: Business Review 1 of 37Great Location and Price, but So Smelly
The Salisbury Hotel was a great location - walking distance to shops, attractions, Central Park. The staff were nice and helpful. Drawbacks - room very musty, smelled like smoke, even though there was a nonsmoking sign. The closet smelled terrible. Elevator did not work for a bit, which meant walking down more than ten flights. Overall, mixed review, but given how expensive hotels are in NY, this was a good deal, I guess.

Trip Type: With Friends Review 3 of 37Great Location
This hotel was one block from Central Park South and was withing walking distance to restaurants, etc. There's a continental breakfast offered for six dollars and is well worth it. The condition of the hotel is satisfactory - old but clean. It was a good deal for the money, but I would probably pay a little extra next time and stay somewhere else.

Trip Type: Special Event Review 7 of 37Room was outdated
Our room did not have enough outlets and the walls and ceilings were cracked in several places. We did have very large closets but I would have preferred queen beds. The air conditioning was very nice and the continental breakfast a great bargain. I would stay there again, if my other preferred hotel was full, but would expect a lower price.

My Stay at The Salsbury Hotel was Terrible. From the 70's bathroom to the bed that was hard as a rock to the poor customer service. i would never stay at this place again.

My husband and I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. It is shabby at best. And the maintenance department should be fired for not doing their job. The details of our bathtub and toilet problems are too disgusting to tell you about--I'm not kidding. To add insult to injury we were expected to pay for a continental breakfast! The service staff was not friendly. We have been to NYC many times and decided to try the Salisbury on the recommendation of friends (who haven't been there in years, it turns out). Never again! Price is not everything when it comes to hotels. Pay for a better hotel. You won't regret it.

Trip Type: Business Review 10 of 37Needs Improvement
The last time I stayed in this hotel, the radiator squeeled every hour the entire night. This time, my shower didn't work, and I only discovered it at 6:00 am when getting ready for a meeting. The hotel wasn't very apologetic and didn't offer to refund my room.

Trip Type: Romance Review 13 of 37Unimpressed
We were very disappointed with our stay at this hotel. The second day there we had to switch rooms because there were cockroaches in our room. We were moved to a smaller suite than what we were originally in and never once did any of the staff apologize for the inconvenience. Only one door in each of the suites closed. For the money that we paid for the room, we were not happy. The water in the shower was normal then it would become extremly hot and very cold. The heat was not thermostat controlled and it was very difficult to control a comfortable temperature. Under the heater there were cockroach traps (unpleasent to look at). Continental breakfast costs $4 per person and the internet service is very expensive. Staff was helpful on the other hand.

The room was very big and comfortable, it offers a little kitchen area. Employees are very corteaus and professional. They're parking area is on 56 St. and they don't offer transportation to the parking, which is a block away. Other places have at least a shuttle bus to make it convenient for their guests.
