Hotel Maritime Plaza

This is NOT a 3 star hotel. Definitely more of a 2.5 star motel.

The bed was completely uncomfortable. There was no mattress top and the matress itself was not pillow top. The mattress was a plain, no frills matress that was not up to par for a 3-star hotel. The sheets and duvet were yellowish colored. They were once white, but probably became dingy over time. The fitted sheet had holes in it. What makes this all more comical was that we were put in the executive sweet. We were also made to sign a liability form prior to getting our room key. It basically said that the hotel could charge us for incidentals or damage to the room. I have never signed any such form in my frequent stays in hotels in Canada and the US. Fortunately, the room was clean, but the stay was not very comfortable. If you are looking for the typical feel of a 3-star hotel, do not book here. If you are looking for a clean motel in the vicinity of nightlife, this is your place!

Uncomfortable

The beds were horrible!! The pillows were equally uncomfortable. Besides that, the hotel was fine. The restaurant had delicious food and the bar was good. The shower head was very powerful. It felt like getting a massage. But without a decent nights sleep, none of it was very good.

Needs Improvement

As others have mentioned the wait for the elevator is ridiculous. We were on the 8th floor and waited over 15 minutes before taking the stairs. Also the ice machine was empty on every floor. There is no A/C therefore opening the window is necessary during warmer months which also lets in the noise of loud boisterously drunks yelling on the streets in the early morning hours. For the money, the room and bathroom were extremely small and nothing special. We might've been better off at a budget hotel.

Dirty Rooms

The Ups were not clean, there were stains on the window cill. There was still hair on the shampoo bottles.

Needs Improvement

When I first saw this hotel on the internet, I thought it was beautiful and I couldn't wait to get there. When we got into our room, it looked nothing like the picture shown on the internet. Also the room was extremely hot because the air-conditioning was not working and they couldn't move us to another room because the hotel was so booked up. We had only been to Montreal once before so we weren't really sure where to go for breakfast in the morning, so we just decided to stay at the hotel and have the buffet, for breakfast it cost us about $35 which is absolutely ridiculous.

Needs improvement

The hotel looked very nice, but looks were deceiving. The room itself was very large, but smelled very damp and mildewy. It was about 95 degrees outside when I stayed and I was shocked to find that the room did not have air conditioning. I think the hotel would have received better ratings from me had the room been cleaned more throughly and the hotel splurged on some AC for the rooms.

Not that great.

Maintainence is awful. Out remote for the TV would continually change channels, the coffee maker wouldn't work, beds were extremely uncomfortable. And when we called for maintainence to come up, they were very unknowledgable about the problems, and didn't even fix any of the problems.

Employees ruin hotel

While the hotel was clean and I had no problems with my room, Customer servive was just not there. The dining room opened up almost 40 minutes later than scheduled, with no apology. Later I rented Talladega Nights (warning: all movies are 12.99) that ended up having an audio lag problem. When I called to complain I was brushed off and still had to pay the 12.99 fee. Not the best experience I've had in a hotel.
