The hotel was nasty. The door to our room did not seal shut. You could stick your fingers through the crack. The bathroom was not very clean and the beds were not comfortable at all. The only thing that was nice about the hole thing was the lobby. It was also kinda far to walk to the river.

This was little more than a likely low class weekly rental slop house. The pics were misleading and I was very dissappointed and will never stay here again.

The paneling was coming off of the door to the bathroom. I couldn't get the hot water to work. The huge neon sax on the wall was really cool but i wish all the lights had worked. It would have looked much better. Overall it was a place with an air conditioner, a clean bed and a lock on the door.

Mold all throughout the room. The bottom of the tub was black. Prostitutes were outside the hotel door, and chased my boyfriend down the hall trying to "get his business" Someone was shot outside the hotel our first night there, Dominoes wouldn't deliver after dark because of the dangerous neighborhood it was in. Literally there were crack dealers down the hall from our room. And the room looks absolutely nothing like the pictures. Please DO NOT come here none of the above is an exaggeration. This was all real, we changed hotels immediately! DO NOT BRING YOUR FAMILY HERE!!!!!

Trip Type: Not Provided Review 6 of 174PROSTITUTION HOTEL!!STAY AWAY FROM!
When we arrived to the hotel there was fire department and police personell. We were not given the rooom we were promised, which was a queen bed insetead i was given a smoking room with a twin bed. Going up to the room I was followed by two men who in my opinion were looking for trouble. Once arrived at my room I was apaulled that there was a room with prostitutes next door! All night the dook kept on opening and slamming, yelling and screaming for money fights etc. I was to nervous to draw any attention to myself so I did not sleep all night the room kept on being entering until 7:00 the following morning. This is not a hotel I recomend to anyone! Once I left I ran into some firemen and asked them about the hotel, they commented that they get calls there all the time for over doses assults and see the prostitutes.

If you plan on visiting New Orleans any time soon with your family or friends. Please stay far away from the Canal Street Hotel. The staff we observed to be very rude. The hotel ran completley out of towels. There were roaches and bugs in the room amongst many other things. This is more of a motel.

The morning staff was great, the evening staff needs more training. There was a mix up in my room, they gave my room to some one else and I was in it!! Thank God I had the bar across the door!!

The air conditions for the rooms are on the inside of the hotel causing the inside of the hotel to be unbarably HOT. The room was cool. The TV remote did not work. I was supposed to have a queen size bed. When I saw the standard double bed I called the front desk. They told me this is what they consider a Queen bed. and if was not enough I could upgrade to a KING. The bathroom shower had no water pressure. The tiles in the bathroom were broken and falling apart. The walls were nasty and black, very unclean. They were supposed to have a pool on the third floor... no one could find it! This hotel is supposed to be under construction. However all we could see was that they are painting over the dirty walls. Also, the bathroom window is so close to the interstate that it stays very loud in the room.

Trip Type: Special Event Review 12 of 174Don't Waste Money Remodeling This Place
Bad hotel in a bad place that was cheap due to remodeling. Nice staff fighting a losing battle with the location & surrounding neighborhood. They shouldn't waste money trying to remodel this dump-let it die & turn into another parking lot-the New Orleans hotel business won't miss it! Way too close to the elevated part of I-10 (my room was on the outside of the hotel on the third floor, at the same level of the highway), I spent twelve days & nights dealing with speeding cars, sirens and horns no more than 100 feet from my door. Too many people hanging around at all hours of the day & night throughout the hotel (turned out they had Katrina refugees still staying in the hotel-nearly four years after the storm!) The place has too many dark places and had a stale stench throughout it-even though they were remodeling it. It reminded you more of a bad government housing project than a hotel. Still I knew what to expect going in, so I wasn't that suprised about the place. Stay away-bad hotel choice!

Lobby was full of borderline derelict looking people. Room stunk, A/C was leaking on carpet. Bathroom had mold, tub was missing parts, rust on windows, ceiling tiles stained and or wet with moisture, blankets had burn hole on them. Overall a terrible looking room -

This hotel was terrible. The room had broken drywall, old dirty carpet. screaming and hollering was heard all evening, police visited the hotel. Kids were hanging out in front blocking entrance at times. Pool was padlocked during the day. People hanging around in lobby were cursing and acting inapropriately. The last morning, before we left, there was a blood trail from the elevator to the front walk...who knows what happened. The desk clerk was not cleaning it up and allowing the poor behavior in the lobby. The room was well cooled and the maid did a great job with what she had to work with. I know the hotel is not in the best part of town but the Mgr should have more control of people hanging around. If they were the employees they should be fired.
