Trip Type: Romance Review 1 of 58Just OK for sleeping
Felt like a giant in the hallways and room. Room is small but decor was ok. Front desk was very friendly and the location on Freemont street was very good.

Trip Type: With Friends Review 2 of 58NOISE, LLLLLOTS of NOISE
Knowing it is the oldest Hotel in Vegas didn't bother us. We thought quaint, reminded us of small Hotels and Hostels we stayed in Europe. BUT the noise was unbelievably!!!! We stay on Freemont every time we come to Vegas, we try a different Hotel every time. So far this is THE only one I wouldn't recommend to ANYONE. Fix the windows to keep out more noise and hot air and we might reconsider. Nice that they are probably original but unrealistic this day and age.

Trip Type: With Friends Review 3 of 58think twice
I read the other reviews about the noise, thought how bad could it be...BAD. I expected some noise hey, it's Freemont St. but man oh man!!!! till 4 in the morning music & people yelling. At 6 am the garbage truckSSSS started "NOTE the SSSS's cool to cold showers, it was quit the discussion in the elevator among the other guest in the Hotel. Quant and old it reminded me of small hotels and hostels we stayed in Europe. We are usually pretty tolerant. Won't stay there again even for 20 $ a night!!!

Trip Type: Not Provided Review 4 of 58Get what u pay for
Hotel was what u expect for the oldest in LV. Rooms were small and unclean. I could lay in the bed and easily open the door without getting up. House cleaning started @ 7am and u could hear everything. Good if u r going on a budget, but would not stay there again. Seems there is 100 yrs. of smoke in the casino also...

Trip Type: With Friends Review 5 of 58Could be more understanding
Do not get a room on the top floor unless you want to be awakened by housekeeping at7:oo a.m. Maybe they assume everyone goes to bed in Vegas at sundown.

Trip Type: Overnight Stay Review 7 of 58Good room for the money
The hotel is further away from the strip, if you plan on staying in downtown, however, it is a convenient and inexpensive hotel, but don't expect too much. The rooms are small, but okay, hotel is old and could need improvement. Again, you get what you pay for. The staff was friendly, but don't expect any extras.

Trip Type: Not Provided Review 8 of 58Small hotel on Fremont, you get what you paid for...
Great location for Fremont St experience, small comfortable room, but a bit noisy if your a light sleeper. Only issue is the self parking lot across street from hotel, not secure and we had our car window damaged during the night.

Trip Type: Family Review 11 of 58Not satisified
from the room you could hear all the noise from fremont street. The music was so loud way into the early morning we were tired we had driven nine hours and just wanted to relax that evening but it was totally impossible with all the noise I think the front desk should at least let you know about the noise factor. I'm just glad I had only booked it for one night. We stayed in vegas for three more nights but at a different hotel.

Trip Type: Family Review 13 of 58The Golden Gate Hotel and Casino Rating
The room was small (OK), the bed was alright and the shower was also OK. What was wrong ?? Hotel construction starting at 6:30am every morning right under my room and going on all day! This was not mentioned to me at check-in concerning the construction noise. Bottom line...Not the kind of "Wake up Call" I was expecting each morning !!

Trip Type: With Friends Review 15 of 58Not what I Expected
After checking in and getting in the room, the AC was not working. A maintenance person got it working but the room never go under 80 degrees unless it was night time. The rooms Bathrooms are very small and the plumbing is very out of date. You will take a warm shower then it will suddenly change to cold or hot to the extreme. The service was friendly and the casino was very clean and taken care of but the hotel itself needs some much needed renovations. I will not stay at here again.
