Trip Type: Family Review 1 of 13disappointed
hotel is well located, but room was very small and oddly shaped. first night of stay fire alarm went off and we were out in the cold for 20 minutes while firemen determined it was not a fire. neighborhood a little seedy, noisy. not what we expected in a hotel rated 4 star.

Trip Type: Romance Review 2 of 13The smallest room I've ever checked in
Is there any way to make the room bigger?

Trip Type: Overnight Stay Review 3 of 13service needs improvement
The room was not ready when I arrived, and while it was not advertised to be ready early, this was the first hotel that I've stayed at in Europe that rooms were not available for transatlantic travelers. The bathroom that they sent me to use to freshen up after my arrival smelled like a public toilet that clearly hadn't been cleaned in a while. Not a great first impression!

Trip Type: Not Provided Review 5 of 13Good room, good area, terrible staff
I've stayed at Quality Crown Hotel Paddington more than 6 times as have my family members and business colleagues that I have recommended this hotel to. The hotel itself is nice and the location is excellent but the staff is less than enthusiastic about service which ruins the entire experience. During this stay, I arrived with a prepaid reservation only to be told that I had no reservation and that I could be accommodated at their other hotel around the corner. After showing the staff my hotels.com reservation, the hotel employee called central reservations which also said that I did not have a reservation. The hotel employee then told me that they were fully booked and went on to assisting his colleague with ordering a pizza (no joke) and arguing with another guest about late check out fee of 40 pounds sterling. Feeling ignored, I requested that he call hotels.com so we could find out about my reservation which he did, reluctantly (and he continued to complain to me about the other guest who would not agree to the 40-pound charge for late check out). I spoke to hotels.com who assured me that I did have a reservation that was paid for. The hotels.com representative then contacted central reservations who in turn contacted the hotel and I was given a room - yes, suddenly there was a room for me. I can't help but think that this was a way to get me to pay more money to stay at the hotel chains other property. To top the situation off, the hotel employee then began to tell me how Americans don't understand that they should book directly through the hotel and not hotels.com and blah blah blah. During my stay, this same employee continued to make comments whenever I walked through the lobby and, when I had family come to the hotel to pick me up, he told them that I had never checked in. Of course, once I showed up in the lobby he didn't have much more to say. I am extremely disappointed with the service I have received the last two times I stayed at this hotel but

Trip Type: Romance Review 6 of 13Lackluster Hotel
I booked this hotel based primarily on the previous reviews. We ended up switching rooms after the first night. We had paid for a room with a king-size bed in it. However, a UK king-size is different from a US King-size (and the matress we were given was slightly smaller than a UK king-size). Around the bed, there was space to walk (which is all we really needed). When we discussed our concerns with the perpetually unhelpful manager, he first stated that he could do nothing about it. Later, my husband requested a "technical downgrade" where the manager put us in a room with two twin beds and put the beds together (this equals the size of a US king). The room itself was considerably larger. The proximity to Paddington station was nice (we bought unlimited use daily tube tickets) but the distance from everything else was troublesome (if we came back in the early evening, if was difficult to go back out again given the necessary commute). I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

Very good location as it is close to paddington station... place is clean, but the rooms are very small and the mattress was very uncomfortable...

Trip Type: Romance Review 8 of 13Room does not fit Price
Although the hotel was beautifully renovated and well situated in the heart of London and train access, the price was simply too much for a seemingly "closet size" room. With the king bed even a single person struggled to open a suitcase.

Trip Type: Family Review 9 of 13Great location, but has problems
I stayed here overnight because I had a flight out of Heathrow the following day. This hotel, which is near the station (but not attached) was quite convenient. However, the bedrooms were small, even for other hotels in teh area. The bed itself was very poor, felt like it had a significant hump in it, and was otherwise hard. There was also a big problem with rumbles from the tube which runs under the building. worst of all, I left my luggage for a few hours, only to come back and find my bag still sitting in the hallway unattended. The condition of the room is very good - clean and well decorated. But it is very small, and did not even offer a place to plug your laptop in so you could use it.

Trip Type: Business Review 10 of 13Postage size room, with subway rumbles
My room was minute, not much bigger than a train compartment, an impression reinforced by the constant rumble of subway trains going bye underneath. The location is great if you want a minimal walk from Paddington Station, but the ambiance is a bit sleazy. Not one of my better business travel experiences, and not to be recommended for vacationers.

Trip Type: Overnight Stay Review 11 of 13Clean, newly renovated, but small
The hotel has been recently renovated, so the rooms/decor are clean and new. The hotel has a fitness center and wi-fi, so it's good for business (or leisure) travelers on a budget. You can practically fall out of Paddington Station into the hotel, so the location is a plus for anyone taking trains into/out of London. On the day I visited, the evening staff was friendly; the day staff not so much.

Trip Type: Overnight Stay Review 12 of 13Needs Improvement
Room was quite small, even after upgrading to a "club room." The blanket was small for the bed and not very thick. Our "king" bed was two twin beds pushed together; while I haven't minded this in the past, you could feel the split between the beds in this case. Hotel staff was friendly enough but certainly didn't blow us away. Hotel bar was usually empty, so we didn't bother venturing in there for a nightcap or to watch a football match. It's also hard to find - sort of tucked away off a main road. Location was also a perk, though, since it was off main roads so you didn't hear a lot of noise with windows open at night. Lots of eating/drinking establishments within 2 blocks, and less than a 5-minute walk to Paddington Station. Recommend for couples or individuals who are looking to save a buck and only need basic accommodations...don't recommend if you're looking for comfort or amenities.
