Trip Type: With Friends Review 2 of 35HVAC needs attention
Most disappointing was the HVAC system. It was 62 degrees when I checked in and the thermostat would not work. Engineer came and said the switch from cool to heat was not funcioning. He "fix" it and it warmed up but it stopped functioning the next day with no air circulation. Very disappointing.

Trip Type: With Friends Review 3 of 35If you like "modern"...
Stayed at this hotel when it was part of another chain and loved it. Traditional, comfortable, location great. It's under new owners who are 'modern.' This means that the above vanity bowl sink is in the bedroom, and there is no wood door between room and bath. It's frosted glass and is NOT sound proof. Let your imagination wander. Ewwww. Hope you know your room-mate well. No tub. Shower open to toilet area and small lip between - water, water everywhere. So, not our style but I'm sure someone will like it.

Trip Type: Business Review 4 of 35Great hotel
If you have a rental, be prepared to pay $35 per day for valet. There's no self-parking The room was extremely small and I had a view of the other side of the hotel. The condition of the hotel was so-so. The receptionist's friendliness was not genuine. Plus: Location is good for things to do and places to eat. The decor and bar are set up well. Good location for the gay traveler. All-in-all, I would recommend another cheaper hotel.

Trip Type: With Friends Review 5 of 35Stuffy atmosphere and even stuffier front desk
They guys at the front desk were quite stuffy and seemed to be above everyone else, like they were doing me a favor by staying there. The hotel is in a great location, but that is about it. There are no vending machines. And just so you know, they charge your card 50 bucks a day for incidentals, not just hold it on file. I would not stay here again.

Trip Type: Family Review 6 of 35Cramped Quaters
We felt the rooms were too small and we got in each others way. It would be fine for one person to stay in a standard size room, but for a couple, it was too cramped.

Trip Type: With Friends Review 7 of 35It was just okay.......
Room was somewhat small for 2 double beds and the bathroom was European style - no shower door. In addition, the main networks didn't work on our television. Gym stinks, no free weights although the cardio machines were nice. Location was perfect however, and it was very clean. They give you Kiehls products too!

Trip Type: Business Review 8 of 35review of stay at Dupont Hotel on June 9th and 10th, 2009.
The staff at the front desk was not knowledgeable, and not very cooperative. the elevators had problems the two days I was there. Room service did not replace all towels/etc. on day two of my stay.

Trip Type: With Friends Review 9 of 35Not satisfied
There were two things I liked about the room: the flat screen TV and the comfortable bed. Everything else was not satisfactory. The bathroom (toilet/shower) felt as though it was in the actual bedroom - separated only by glass doors. The room was small - pictures are deceiving. I should have checked the amenities but am so used to a hotel nowadays having a refrigerator and microwave, I didn't bother to check. We could have had a frig for an additional fee. However, a microwave was completely out of the question. It was disappointing, to say the least.

Nice remodel job in modern decor, but just does not deliver what one would expect at this price level.

Trip Type: Romance Review 11 of 35Disappointing
A big fan of the Jury's Hotel in Boston, I was very disappointed in The Dupont Hotel, especially given recent makeover. Service was slow. AC didn't work well. Bathroom was not well designed at all. The toilet and the shower head are 2 feet apart with no door between. Water splashes everywhere. Construction and traffic are so bad that getting a taxi is impossible. Dupont Circle, though, is a great area.

Trip Type: Family Review 12 of 35Constructive Criticism
Goods- Great Lobby Staff" Valet, Bells, Concierge and Desk". Nice location, steps from the Metro Dupont Circle station, Starbucks, CVS, Bank, Bars and Cafes. Lounge is great, lobby is modern and clean. Room is modern with nice fixtures. Very comfortable bed, linen and large flat panel TV. Valet with in and out privileges. Cabs pass frequently near the hotel as to not wait when needed. Bads - Numerous complaints of cold shower water unanswered. Rooms on Dupont Circle side of hotel very noisy on the 4th floor, I can't imagine what is would be like on a lower floor. Not as many of the simple luxuries like a mini bar, iron , fridge . Check in only had 2 doubles when the room was booked with a King. Wireless internet in our rooms was non existent. A lamp didn't have a plug in the same time zone where the lamp and accompanying furniture is placed. Last but certainly not the least. The lack of privacy while using the toilet and shower. There is only a smoked glass door with a space large enough to ensure no privacy whatsoever to your washroom needs. If you want total privacy from your guest in the room. Don't stay at the Dupont Hotel or plan to use the lobby bathrooms.

Trip Type: Family Review 13 of 35Disappointed!!!
The management team at this hotel lives on Lala Land. To say that they need staff training and better organization is an understatement. It was ridiculous!!! Between the constant banging on the roof top all day and all night (they are still remodeling - this is not an official thing but you'll find out when you get there) the glass bathroom without any privacy, the hotel restaurant/bar where I literally brought my own water to the table and also the appetizers because of short staff, the stay was something that you can see only on Saturday Night Live!! I thought for while that I am on a hidden camera show....I still can't believe that a 4 star hotel can manage to stay 4 star with such horrible management. To add the cherry on the cake, I left by mistake my camera charger in the room. I've called 6 times in the past 4 days and so far they front desk manager is still trying to get in touch with the Housekeeping Department!!!!! I'll keep you posted :) The only good thing - the rooms are clean and the furniture is new, but is that enough?

Trip Type: Business Review 14 of 35Needs Improvement
I stayed at the Dupont while it was still "opening." Why a hotel would decide to operate before it's fully equipped to provide service and basic amenities is beyond me. My first indication that something was amiss came at check-in. I waited nearly 10 minutes to speak with the desk clerk and then another 10 minutes while he fumbled to secure my room. When I walked off of the elevator, there was no sign indicating which way (left or right) I should go given my room number. Small things like this add up pretty quickly for a hotel's viewpoint of customer service. Upon entering and inspecting my room, I immediately noticed that it was missing a refrigerator, coffee/tea maker, iron and ironing board, window curtains, and the bag for dry cleaning. After several hours on the phone with both hotels.com and the hotel staff, I managed to have a fridge delivered to my room, but it was left by my door and I had to call again to have it installed. The manager notified me that the hotel didn't even have a coffee/tea maker to give me. He also indicated, that contrary to the listing for the room I booked, that curtains did not come with the room. I didn't even bother to ask about the availability of the dry cleaning service. When I relayed all of my complaints to the manager, he didn't seem all that concerned. I had to push him to the point of offering some recompense, which for me ended up being a free breakfast. Of course, when I checked out, the breakfast was charged to my room and I had to wait another 10 minutes to have it removed from my bill. Then, I asked for an umbrella and a taxi. Of course, they didn't have the umbrella and despite my request for a taxi, the doorman didn't try to hail one until I asked him again. I ended up being late for my business meeting as a result. Overall, the Dupont is a very nicely remodeled hotel with well appointed furnishings. However, the hotel has made a serious mistake of trying to operate before ensuring that customer satisfaction and

Trip Type: Business Review 15 of 35Not yet ready
The hotel was not ready - it is being rebuilt, and the new look and feel are very modern and well-appointed. Staff were well trained and very gracious, and the location is excellent. The hotel's top floor is still under construction, and we noticed work crews at several times trying to fix things. The hotel is still being renovated. Hotel had just re-opened a week earlier after apparently a long time and the systems were not ready (phone in room didn't work, wireless internet went down, plumbing drains were very slow, HVAC couldn't keep a constant temperature in the room, the elevators were slow and noisy).
