Trip Type: Overnight Stay Review 1 of 31Unfriendly staff for average hotel
The hotel is not greatly located, is in average condition and the staff is rude. If you just have to spend a night and look for a budget location, go for it otherwise any other pick will be better.

Trip Type: Family Review 2 of 31Good location - not so good lodging
Good things: Location the lady that does the breakfast was nice the tall caucasian man at the front desk was nice price was reasonable for city lodging Bad things: The other front desk staff were condescending - I mean, hello, if we lived in and knew Toronto we would not be staying in a hotel, right? The bed linens in the rooms need replacing. Holes in both outer and inner linen items/blankets. Room was tiny.

Trip Type: With Friends Review 3 of 31Disappointed
The Clarion Hotel was a disappointment. The room was small for the price that we payed for one night. The beds were uncomfortable and the breakfast was nothing great. I could not believe how much we were charged to park there, especially since we were there for less than 24 hours. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone going to Toronto.

Trip Type: Business Review 7 of 31Hotel is OK
This hotel is very simple and someone antiquated. This was my second stay here, and probably the main reason for coming again was price and familiarity. It's a couple of miles from downtown Toronto, which isn't too bad if you have a rental car. The breakfast is simple but not bad (mostly waffles, cereal, and apples). The beds are a little firm for me. There is plenty of counter space in the bathroom, which is nice. They were having a pretty serious phone issue during my stay that had not happened previously. It kept ringing throughout one night and continued waking me up about every hour until I finally told them to make it stop. Bizarrely, there were about 20 voicemails the next day that were either blank or had recordings of the hotel's own hold music. Finally, they have an old-style elevator here that I think is just the coolest thing. It's one where you have to open a door and pull back a second retractable door, which is annoying with luggage but kind of nostalgic otherwise.

Trip Type: Not Provided Review 8 of 31Cheap in Every Way
We got this hotel for a very cheap rate and felt it might have been a great deal since the pictures looked great. Unfortunately, there was more than one reason we paid so little. The room met none of the criteria we had requested, there was little parking (though you did have to pay $13 a day for it) and what was there was almost to dangerous to navigate, the surrounding neighborhood was a little scary at night, and the location was so far away from any local attractions or transit we were forced to drive everywhere. Our room was in the basement (where many of the rooms are located) which made it very dark and dungon-like since leaving the curtains open meant the people walking by on the street could see everything. It was ok for the few nights we stayed, but I would not go back.

Trip Type: Family Review 10 of 31Bad...
The only positive is cleanliness. Other than that everything needs great improvement. Front desk personnel were at best indifferent. The room was very small, smelling old, peeling paint on the walls, the closet had no shelves, but it had a large crack in the wall (you could stick your finger in it). To top it off there's a construction site right in front of the window, and those guys started work (with heavy machinery) at 7 am. I don't know how good the free breakfast is because I could not get myself to try it: the breakfast room is a low ceiling, windowless room in the basement that cut my appetite... The neighborhood may be safe, although it doesn't look so, and it's a good half hour walk to downtown. There are much better choices.

Trip Type: With Friends Review 12 of 31Poor room condition, old and damp
Location-wise this hotel is very good and its the very reason I booked from them. However the room is small and smelly, not enough ventilation. Parking is very bad and expensive 13 dollars a night and the lot next block charges 9. Tiny Tiny Tiny Tiny and old elevator, go see for yourself if you don't believe me.

Trip Type: Romance Review 13 of 31ok for the money, terrible view
The room was in a basement dungeon, looking out on to a cleaning/prep area for hotel staff. This meant, every morning, I was woken up with clangs of pots, pans and the smell of cleaning supplies, and the room was always pitch black even though the entire weekend was sunny and cloudless. I booked a Queen bed room (not the cheapest option) and the hotel staff would not transfer to a better room on their 3 other empty floors.

Trip Type: Overnight Stay Review 14 of 31Unfortunate vehicle size
Being only a few blocks away from Downtown worked out well for dinner. It is, however, not in downtown - about 4 blocks away. I had requested a non-smoking room and did not receive one due to the hotel being sold out. Even though my reservation had requested a non-smoking room, I was not told of the unavailability upon check-in. It wasn't until I walked into the room, I realized what had happened. The bathtub was also not completely clean with small hairs from a previous user. The hotel does provide in/out access parking for a fee. There is very limited parking for large vehicles. We had to park across the street at the public parking which was slightly cheaper than the hotel but with no in/out privileges.
