Trip Type: Rest and Recreation Review 2 of 18Needs much improvement
Customer service needs improvement and consistency. Stayed at hotel on two different occassions within a months time. A visit to the gym turned out to be an experience of selective ID of guest instead of all guest. Witness one guest get turned away because he did not have hotel key readily available while at the same time other guest were not requested or asked to show room key at all. This similar incident occurred involving myself just the prior day. Wanted to speak to hotel manager and did not receive any report in return.

Trip Type: Not Provided Review 3 of 18Disappointing
Hotel location terrible. Need a car or a taxi to get anywhere and given the LA traffic this is frustrating. Also on Thursday, Friday, and Saturdays the hotel is very noisy. They have a night club and play very loud music on the outdoor patio and if your room is located on this side of the hotel you can hear it until 2:00 AM. Would not stay here again.

No coffee maker in the room. Have to go to the lobby's "coffee station". Regular coffee pot was empty at 8:00am. No top sheet, just a huge comforter. LA Times at some doors, and not at others. But we asked for one, and got it. Restaurant is very pricey and very average, except for breakfast, which is good. Waiters seem hesitant and not very familiar with things. Bar/club is ok, but disappointing because the television sets don't work...NBA playoffs were on...bartender told us the owner didn't buy cable. Bummer.

Trip Type: Not Provided Review 6 of 18Sofitel LA differs from European & Wasington DC properties
Sofitel hotels in Paris, Brussels, Berlin and Washington DC to name a few, feel more boutique-y. (Less rooms) Food, customer service and daily international newspapers are a nice touch. Black napkins are offered to restaurant clients wearing dark clothes- avoiding lint. Nice touch. This hotel met our needs, but it was so huge and close to the street! Lots of nightlife. We chose a room at the opposite end of the hotel.

Trip Type: Romance Review 7 of 18very dark but good food
It was very dark and for the price I paid I much more enjoyed my stay at kempton hotels in San Francisco. It is more a place to say you have been and to be seen but it is maybe worth experiencing that way you know you are not missing much! Room was not cleaned, there was only shower, again did not match the price!

Very small rooms and the hotel is very loud

Trip Type: Business Review 10 of 18LOUD
Very nice hotel, beautifully appointed rooms, but not conducive to sleep. If you get a street facing room, LOTS of street noise makes it difficult to get a good night's sleep...

Trip Type: Not Provided Review 12 of 18Not worth the money
First, the valet service by far was not one of 4 star hotel, and then the receptionist was nice, but it felt like she kind of hesitated to most helpful, maybe because of the late arrival and I think she was tired. Got the key and went to my deluxe room. I was really surprised how tiny a 425 sq.f. room could be, or maybe I was given a smaller room??? I decided to decant a bottle of red while take a shower..... no wine opener!!! Then into the bathroom the shower light bulb not working! The mattress was OK, but did not meet expectations......comforter and pillow were awesome. On the next morning @10:30am a maid walked into my room, and finally I realized there is no toothbrush and toothpaste. Overall my experience was ok, and definitely not worth the money. It seem they have paid a lot of attention to the decor and facade of the hotel, which is nice , but it lacking professionalism.

Trip Type: Romance Review 13 of 18Up All Night
It would have been nice if we would have been warned about the noisy night club on the 1st floor. Even on the 8th floor, we were kept awake until 2am with thumping music. Be sure to get a room far away from the night life if you cherish your sleep.

last time I had a great spacious room, and this time, although I reserved a bigger room, I got a closet for a room, after 2 hours of moving from room to room, either they were so noisy, or small, I couldn't get what I wanted, and finally at 2:00 a.m. and gave finally a decent room. What a shame, when you could have the customers happy. the front desk guy, had some pity on me,

Trip Type: Special Event Review 15 of 18Great Facility; Hotel Staff Not Professional
The reservations with the hotel and the staff were difficult and unpleasant. They continually locked us out of the room because they said we did not check in despite the fact that our luggage was in the room and we pre-paid for two nights. Each day this 5-star hotel would re-code the keys so we had to go to the front desk to get it recoded. They would then proceed to explain that we did not have reservations and could not have access to the room. They did this three times. We were tired and their behavior was tiresome. Each time the clerk had to get the manager to resolve the problem which took at least 30 minutes each encounter. The hotel was very chic and trendy.
