Has Amenities, You Just Can't Use Them!

When I booked this hotel, I was excited to see that the hotel offered a free shuttle to various attractions around Seattle. The reality is that there's only 1 shuttle, and it can accomodate about 20 people. Considering how many guests there were who wanted to use the shuttle, most people were not able to. When I inquired about taking it, I was informed there would be a 3 hour wait. Who would want to wait for 3 hours, just to get stranded in downtown, where I'm assuming there would be another ridiculously long wait to be picked up? There was also a free breakfast. When I went to it the first day, the breakfast was completely mobbed. Most of the food was completely gone, and what was left you couldn't eat because every single plate had been used. Even the drinks were completely gone. Not only that, but all the seats were taken. Again, too many guests for what was being offered. The second day I came down earlier, and it was the same situation, there was still no food, no plates, and no where to sit. Also, the second day we stayed there, our room was never cleaned, even though we left early that day and didn't return till late. All in all, the hotel is decent looking, is in a decent location. But I've had better experiences at a much much cheaper hotel. This hotel is very expensive considering you're not getting much and can't even eat the breakfast.

Hotel Response

Thank you for your feedback! It is so disappointing you did not have the opportunity to take advantage of two of our most popular complimentary amenities: our downtown shuttle service and our continental breakfast. We hope you give us another chance to serve you in the future.

Bad room layout

I have stayed in the hotel before and have enjoyed those stays but this time the room was unacceptable, to use the bathroom you needed to first close the door to turn on the light.

Hotel Response

Thank you for your feedback regarding our room layout! We do have three rooms in our hotel with awkwardly placed light switches in the bathroom; this design flaw occurred during our building's construction. I do apologize you were inconvenienced by the placement of the light switch in your bathroom. We appreciate your business and your comments!

Very nice hotel but room layout was awkward

Room was standard with comfortable bed and great tv but the bathroom layout was very awkward. You needed to close the door to turn to the light on or off.

It depends on what you're looking for

The bed was uncomfortable, there was no safe or other place to secure a laptop, and the heater smelled strongly of burnt toast. The staff were barely helpful. That said, the breakfast was nice with the waffle machines and fresh fruit. We were lucky to hit the Tuesday evening reception and so enjoyed a glass of wine. The dining area is nice with an outside view patio. The room has a fridge, microwave, and large TV. The sink is in the hall as you come in, across from the shower. We were on the 7th floor and it was quiet. The deal breaker for me was the bed that left me stiff and wound up in my night gown from all the tossing and turning. My husband did not sleep well either. I felt as if I had been robbed of my enjoyment of the next day.

Hotel Response

Hello and thank you for your feedback! We pride ourselves in the superior comfort of our beds, purchasing only high quality, brand name mattresses for all of our rooms and replacing them often. I do apologize yours was less than satisfactory. We appreciate all of your comments and will consider them thoroughly. Thank you for choosing us; we hope to have the opportunity to serve you in the future.

Slightly-Noisy location near the highway

Comparing this against the Silver Cloud on Broadway, the Broadway wins hands down (quieter, located on Capitol Hill within walking distance of great restaurants, good shuttle to downtown on the hour). The Lake Union location is in a semi-pavement heavy area right under the I-5 Interstate. There are a few restaurants within walking distance but none overly great (Hooters, I Love Sushi, Siam Thai on Union Lake, etc...). With a small amount of effort you can figure out the public transportation system to get downtown towards Westlake Mall and Pike place. As for the hotel decor, it definitely mid-range: the colors match, smells okay, furnishings trimmings of wood are cheap laminate but with granite countertops, u-shaped shower curtain, lighting is mismatched fluorescent spectrum bulbs, beds are medium spring, pillows are good... so it isn't the Westin, but it isn't a motel, either. Parking & wi-fi are free. Breakfast is the current Sysco (Best Western, Super 8) motel offering: waffle flipper, cold egg, yogurt, box cereal, pastry/english muffin/ bland bagel with Tully's coffee and pasturized apple/orange juice.

SHORT ON SPACE

If you have a big rig be very careful. The parking is really bad.

Hotel Response

Thank you for your feedback regarding the size of our garage parking spaces. As one of the only hotels in our area who still offer complimentary guest parking we do try to maximize our garage space by fitting in as many spots as possible.

Staff tried, hotel not that hot

Window didn't close in first room Got new room, but the keys they gave us weren't activated People came by to measure for new curtains while we were in our room. Maid service knocked on our door at 9:30, rather than check with the desk to see if we had checked out.

Hotel Response

Thank you for letting us know about these mishaps! We appreciate your feedback and are always striving to improve our facility and services.

Price to high for the "view"

The room is offered as a room with a lake view, the problem is the boat yard and business buildings in front give you a roof top view with limited viewing of the water unless you get the top floor. That room also has an obstructed view. Price is too high for the "view". The rooms facing the lake are facing the main street and traffic noise is very high until late in the evening.

Hotel Response

Thank you for your feedback regarding our view accommodations! We always recommend our higher floors for the best views of Lake Union. While downtown Seattle streets are indeed very noisy they generally quiet down in the evenings, after rush hour.

Good Location/ Little Pricey

Stayed with my boyfriend for four nights. This is your basic hotel, good for business or families but not worth the price we paid to stay. The location is good, fairly close to EMP and Space Needle (15 minuites by car). Pool (indoor) and gym area open 24 hours which is nice. In room our towels were dirty on arrival. What was listed as a "water view" had only a view of the boat repair shop across the street and was very noisy. Parking is free but very limited. If you come in late to the hotel you might have to park on the street or across the street in the boat repair lot. We had a room on the third floor near the drink/ice machine and every morning at 6:00 AM the staff comes and uses the ice maker for the breakfast buffet for 45 minutes- very noisy. We changed rooms and finally got the water view as promised. Hard to book shuttle that they promised so used rental car whole time- parking in Seattle VERY difficult and expensive- so if you stay here book shuttle way in advance and plan accordingly. Good hotel for business travelers- free internet in lobby. Good for families. Average hotel-needs some room cleaning. Breakfast for free-pretty good variety with yogurt and bagels and granola etc. Overall not worth the price we paid but decent hotel in a pinch.

Little bit pricey for what it is

Overall, the room is just not that great. Compared to other hotels i stayed, this is way too pricey. View was obstructed so it really wasnt all that great. Continental breakfast in the morning was a rat race and utensils was empty. Had to wait awhile til it was replenish. Food was okay though....
