Room was small, cramped, dark and view was of the towering,circular hotel parking lot! Cool factor is in 6th floor game room and the fact that House of Blues is adjacent to hotel - very convenient.

Dark bordello

I checked out early Sunday morning only to find two ladies trying to explain to the desk clerk that the guy with whom they spent the night was suppose to pay for their parking charges but they didn't know his name - only his room number.

Good Location but not a hotel for business trevelers

The location of the hotel is awesome, right at the center of all the activities in Downtown Chicago. The rooms are too small with inadequate lighting,not enough tables for business travelers. The room I stayed in, didn't have a mini bar! which means I had to call room service everytime I wanted even water. The food options in the hotel are limited too and food wasn't good either. Overall a bad experience, the only positive being the location of hotel.

Dirty Bathroom

The bathroom had not been cleaned and the beds were hard and uncomfortable. I have stayed at many hotels in Chiago that were cheaper and just as nice of a room and were clean. We were also supposed to have a King bed and we got 2 doubles. Checkout was not until noon and the housekeeper knocked on our door at 8:30, we were still in bed.

Dirty Room

This hotel was in a great location, but the bathroom had not been cleaned. Also we booked a King room and got a room with 2 Double beds. I will not be staying at this hotel again. We go to Chicago 2-3 times a year and try different hotels and this was the most expensive and the dirtiest.

Hotel limitations

The hotel was very dark, poor lighting and our room was very small. The room contained only one chair and no coffee maker.

Needs Improvement

This Hotel has good location and staff were nice. But it has wired interior design. For example, the bath room light was dark and red. The hall way was dark. Anyway, we were not satisifed with this hotel in the following areas: 1. No coffee and hot water in the room - We can only get coffee at the lobby in the morning. However the coffee was always run out with no filling from Hotel Staff 2. The light bulb in bathroom didn't work 3. The parking charge was $42 which was very expensive 4. The hotel gave us the handicap room instead of regular one when we checked in hotel even though we were not the disability persons. 5. The hotel offerred room exchange after we required. However, the room which they tried to exchange was so wired because the bathroom lights were dim and red. So we had to stay with original room

Great Location, Not So Great Bang For The Buck

Pros: Location, location, location. This is the perfect spot to be right in the action... we walked to the Navy Pier, the Hancock Building, Michigan Ave, and everywhere in between. It's almost right on the river and overlooks the House of Blues. The beds were also really comfortable and the flat-screen TV with HD was a nice touch. Cons: Uncomfortable everything else (chair, closets, bathrooms, desk, etc). I really expected higher quality for the amount of money I paid. I guess it would have "character", but to me I'd rather have a chair I can stand to sit in rather than an alligator-skin chair that will rub a hole in your elbows. Also, they really get you on parking... $42 a night is the hotel-discounted rate. That seemed about par for surrounding locations as well, but I guess I was expecting a better rate since I'm gracing their business with my money. Overall: I was really really impressed with the location, and less than impressed with the hotel itself. I'd try another hotel before I stay there again to see if I get more bang for my buck.

Nothing Special

The staff was great but the hotel itself is outdated. There wasn't anything special about the room, except for the large tv. The room seemed outdated. Some of the bathroom fixtures can be purchased for less than $10 at the local hardware store. I expected more and higher quality for a 4-star rated room. To me, the room felt like a 2-star Motel 6 or Days Inn. The entry way looked nice, though. The bed wasn't anything special. They could have sprung a little more to give an adequate amount of pillows too. It did, however, appear to be clean. There are many places that cost a lot less that are nicer out there. This place was just O.K. Note: Print out a copy of your room revervations. Hotel Sax did not have my reservation listed.

Great location, but not worth the price.

The location was excellent for everything we wanted to do. Just a couple of blocks from the Red Line and Michigan Ave. It was very easy to get back after a night on the town. However... the overall stay in the hotel was rather disappointing. The walls between each room were paper thin. You could hear every bit of conversation from the adjoining rooms. Sleeping at night was difficult if you had neighbors who came in late. The cold water in the bathroom was shut off. We had to have a maintenance man come in and fix it. The room did not have a refridgerator in it, nor did it have more than two small drawers and a closet to store our clothes. The service at the hotel restaurant was also painfully slow. Our waiter had only five or six tables, yet it took him well over two hours just to serve us one bottle of wine and a plate of cheeses. The best part was the hidden charges for parking. We were not informed until checkout that we were charged outrageously for parking. We could've stayed in a hotel off of Lake Shore for the same price, but with free parking. Such a shame.

Bad first impression

I found the hotel to be very clean with a great location. The concierge service was very helpful. The doormen were also very pleasant and helpful. However, the front desk employees were the exact opposite. The television in my room was not functioning for the duration of my stay. After repeated calls to have it fixed while I was out.. it was left in a worse state than previously. The end result, no consistent service. They did not have the cords to hook up the IPOD to the alarm clock as advertised. And after repeated notification to the front desk of paying for a late check out, I was repeatedly interrupted and nagged about "missing" the check out time. The lack of communication between employees was sad. Finally, when I did check out.. there were incorrect minibar charges on my bill that were eventually removed. The bed was comfortable, bathroom shower had good water pressure and ample hot water, my view was great, and overall the room was quiet despite being by the elevators. However, I would not stay there again. I hold chicago hotels to a higher level, and Hotel Sax over looked the small things.
