Fantastic Service and View

The staff and service at this hotel are wonderful! While the location is not easy to get to (it is up a mountain), if you have a little time, it is absolutely worth the drive. The food at the restaurant was delicious and the owner went out of his way to ensure we were happy. We used this as an over night resting place on our way home but would love to go back for a long weekend to explore the area and if we ever do, we will definitely stay at the Hotel Colonne!

What a find!

What a find! The Hotel Colonne is a beautiful albergo perched on the hills just outside Varese in the village of Sacro Monte. Our room was spacious and delightful. The balcony view was spectacular overlooking Lago di Varese. Public rooms were charming – again taking advantage of the views. Wonderful food – friendly and helpful staff – a perfect spot to rest and relax. Bus service was spotty during the Road Cycling World Championship but taxis were plentiful. The walk (downhill) into Varese was a perfect way to see the countryside and the homes along the way. Don’t miss the chapels of Sacro Monte in all their quiet serenity. Can’t wait to go back.
