Not what it seems like online

My girlfriend and I needed a place to say a few nights before and after a show we were attending and found this hotel on hotels.com. Our room was not what it looked like online, they also messed up our reservation. We requested a premium queen and got a 2 person standard bed room. They were almost reluctant to relocate us but did. They charged for parking at a high price but you have to accept it for street parking is unsafe. The only positive thing with the hotel was the food from the resturante inside.

Under Construction

The hotel was undergoing front facade renovations. Other construction workers returned to work on the lot next door Monday morning (when we checked out). Luckily neither was working over the weekend. People staying during the week might not be so lucky. The room: a lampshade had a nice big crack that scraggled from top to bottom, one outlet near the desk didn't work (so we couldn't use the desk for work), our toilet wouldn't flush everything unless we held the handle the whole time, there was black mold all the way around the top edge of the shower block, bed comforters were seriously outdated. Beds were comfortable, never turned on the tv, location was great to everything we wanted to see (the village, old Montreal, and general walking around), price was affordable, and the staff was friendly.

False advertising: Not the hotel in the pictures.

I reserved a suite at the Berri partly based on the pictures on this and the hotel's own web site. The suite I got when I arrived looked nothing like the pictures, I complained and was told someone had mistakenly put up the wrong pictures and nothing could be done because the room was already paid for. My vacation was short I did not want to spend my time trying to get what I had paid for. The room I got was minimally ok, it hadn’t been completely cleaned, there were half empty water bottles on the self and some bottle caps here and there. The fixtures and furniture were old, the suite was dark with a slight smell of smoke and disinfectant. The lobby was under going a remodel. The included continental breakfast consisted of bread items, bagels, bananas, yogurt, jam, orange juice and coffee.

not so fast...

The hotel was way outdated and had stale smell. Plenty other low budget hotels that meet todays standards such as Comfort Inn, Days Inn, Holiday Inn Express, all in a few blocks. The complimentary breakfast was not worth it either. Parking in the hotel was an extra $17. US a night. I would not recommend the hotel.

Did not at all look like the pics!

The photos posted showed a nice, contemporary hotel. When we arrived, we were highly disappointed. The garage set-up was horrible, with a steep hill leading into a tiny basement garage with very narrow spaces that you had to back into. There was no valet, or bellman. We struggled to get our bags out of the car without denting the car parked next to us, then had to navigate our way to our room. We were given the wrong size bed at first, and had to change rooms. Room was dated, not at all contemporary. Room was clean enough, but had a funny smell. Good location for Latin Quarter. Would not stay here again.

Needs a lot of improvements

The Lord Berri is located closed to the Berri Uquam metro station and this will be the only good point of this hotel. Staff was nice but the amenities for the price did not meet my expectations. I would definitively not recommend it for business traveler who needs internet connection and some comforts to rest or work.

Don't believe the pics

The lobby is nice, but the size of a stamp. The rooms are dated and look it. Must have had some great lighting for the pics. Price was fine, but the location was the best part, 1 block from the bars, with none of the noise.

Hotel manager was not helpful...

he was rarely nice to us, at most times rude. did not want to help at all. and the service in general was lacking.
