Trip Type: Family Review 1 of 26Good hotel and great location
The hotel has a great location right next to the Shinjuku train station. The buffet is alright but make sure to ask about the discount coupons at the front desk everyday. The rooms are small but clean. The bathroom took some getting used to with its plastic, portable-toilet atmosphere. We were on the 20th floor with an incredible view over the city. Internet in the room costs extra and is only free the hotel front desk area (but with very limited possiblities to sit down). I would definitely stay there again.

Trip Type: Not Provided Review 3 of 26Great location and good hotel
This hotel is really close to the Shinjuku station. The area was busy with things to do and see. Hotel staff are very friendly and helpful. The room was small (its Tokyo!) but it was actually really comfortable and very clean!

Trip Type: With Friends Review 4 of 26Good value considering you are in Tokyo.
The surrounding areas are great for sightseeing and fairly priced meals as it is geared for the locals looking for entertainment. Be advised that the area is mainly geared for entertaining locals, so westerners may possibly feel unwelcome. Some may find it seedy and distasteful compared to other more upscale areas in Tokyo. The rooms are TINY and the bathroom can be compared to the ones found on commercial airliners, which may come as a shock to many. But given that you are in the middle of Tokyo where real estate square footage is at a premium, you may understand why. Overall, a great value for the price, and in the center of the action for those who want that.

Trip Type: Not Provided Review 5 of 26Great for 1st time stay in Tokyo
This hotel is accurately rated at 3 stars, but is only a 5 minute walk to the Shinjuku train station, which is the busiest in Japan. You can get anywhere you want to go in the country from here. More of a Japanese style hotel in rooms and accomodations (small rooms, no gym/pool), but a great value and location.

Trip Type: Family Review 7 of 26A Very Nice Hotel in a Great Location
This is my 2nd time staying at the Shinjuku Prince. The first was in 2005. Since then, they've renovated the rooms. They're sleek, modern, and clean. Really liked the design. (But beware - not a single drawer to put things in.) We opted for the "large" room, which was a good thing. It was still smaller than your average US hotel room, but large by Japanese standards, I guess. The staff is pleasant and helpful, tho English is a bit of a problem for some. (I asked the bellman about karaoke, and he didn't understand me at first.) As for location, you just can't ask for much more. It's like staying in the middle of Times Square. Literally 2 blocks away, you're in the heart of the Shinjuku entertainment district. It's alive 24/7. For those so inclined, the gay district is just a short walk away. So is top-notch shopping, including department stores and high-end specialty shops. There's even a multi-story shopping center (I'm talking a real shopping center) right in the hotel, as well as a train station and a subway line. And most importantly, you're only a 5 minute walk to the Shinjuku JR station -- it's one of the busiest train stations in the world, with over 2 million users a day. You can get to anywhere in Tokyo from there. BTW: There are plenty of places to eat in the neighborhood, but if you're inclined to use the hotel's breakfast buffet, see if you can find a package deal that includes breakfast. It's a decent buffet, and it's not cheap if you have to pay separately for it. In short, if you're into being in the heart of the Times Square of Japan, you can't go wrong staying here.

Very clean room and close to public transportations! Agree with other reviewers that this is a good hotel to stay if it is your first visit to tokyo. Room is not too small, much better than rooms on cruise ships.

Trip Type: Business Review 9 of 26Excellent, excellent hotel
This is, without a doubt, the best hotel value that I've found in Tokyo. Can we please forgo the usual "the-room-is-small-by-Western-standards" stuff and focus on what's important? The rooms are extremely sleek and stylish, with exceptionally pleasant bathrooms for Japan. The beds are comfy. The views of busy Shinjuku are simply amazing. And the location is just steps from the JR station. The staff is top-notch. My room could have easily gone for almost double the price I paid. Luckily it didn't, allowing me to enjoy this fantastic hotel. I didn't try the restaurants. Let's face it -- if you're staying in the heart of a bustling district like Shinjuku and not venturing out to find some street food, then you shouldn't be traveling in the first place.

Trip Type: With Friends Review 11 of 26Great place to stay
The Shinjuku Prince was a real treat. Rooms are typical Japanese business small, but very comfortable and well maintained. The staff was pleasant and very responsive. Just two minutes to the station, convenient to get around Tokyo in a snap. Loved it, would stay there again, and would recommend it to others without any hesitancy.

Trip Type: Business Review 13 of 26good for the price
The Shinjuku Prince is a good hotel for the price. It has a nice location for getting around since it is next to Shinjuku Station. It also has plenty of places to eat. Don't miss Yakitori Dori on the other side of the tracks. It is a great place to soak up Japanese culture and get a feel of the "old Japan".

Trip Type: Romance Review 15 of 26caution on plumbing
I had read here that there was an issue about rotten smells coming from the bathroom. Ours was the same way. Only on the last day did we look under the sink (there was a removable panel) to find a pool of collected waste water. It would reek of waste (especially after using the bathroom). It wouldn't be so bad after showering (since the water was mostly soapy water from the tub). Other than that, a great hotel in the Shinjuku area. Right next to the party places. Not the best for kids, but for nightlife, it's walking distance (and only 25 dollars for a cab ride back from Shibuya (in case you decide to train it there and stay out after midnight when the trains stop.) If you don't need your rooms cleaned, turn in a slip to the desk and you also get a $5/person/day voucher to be used at the hotel's shops.
