Trip Type: Romance Review 1 of 17Too Hot
Old building did not allow for cooling the room. Everything controlled building-wide. The temperature was too hot to sleep comfortably, and we were told that nothing could be done.

Trip Type: Family Review 2 of 17Expensive & Lack of Ameneties
Although we got a great deal through Hotels.com, the incidentals at this hotel are very expensive. Parking, with in and out privileges, is $45 a day. One has to tip very frequently and they have no vending arrangements - even ice has to be ordered from room service. Otherwise, the hotel is very comfortable and extremely convenient for downtown Chicago.

Trip Type: Not Provided Review 3 of 17Understaffed and disorganized
We arrived at the Sutton Place Hotel at @5 pm and were promptly told that a room was not yet available. Notified that we had to be at an event by 6:15, the staff person then found us a room, which turned out to be a stinky smoking room. We ended up dressing in this room until we could be switched to a non-smoking room. We barely made our event. Throughout our brief stay we were confronted with poor service by an obviously over-taxed staff; long delays for virtually any service. We have stayed at the Sutton Place many times over the years, but will not be returning.

Trip Type: With Friends Review 4 of 17Very Slow Service
Hotel was pretty easy to find. We arrived right at the time of check-in (3pm) and were told our room would be ready shortly. We were a bit surprised because check-out is at noon so we figured our room would be ready by 3pm when we got there. They took our phone number and said they would be calling within half an hour. Two and a half hours later, we were among almost 30 other people that were still waiting for a room!! By the time we got our room, almost 6pm now, we had to wait another 20 minutes to finally get our luggage from the bellhop. When we left the next morning, we turned in our room key just to another bill for $45.00 from parking our car there. There is no where in the hotel that states you will be charged this to keep your car parked with them. If there was we would have parked in the lot less than a block away that is only $13.00. If you don't mind waiting for hours for a room or to get your own car back, then this is the perfect place for you!

Trip Type: Romance Review 5 of 17Nickle and Dimeing....
We stayed at The Sutton Place hotel 3 years ago and we loved it. Friendly staff, great location, it had it all. We returned last weekend to celebrate our anniversary, and although we still loved the location - our master suite was about half the size of the room we had last time for the same price. On settling in we found that the tea and coffee maker was no where to be found, there was no hair dryer or shower cap in the room as there has been last time, and after walking aimlessly up and down the hallways for 10 minutes looking for the ice machine, we picked up the phone to call downstairs to find the phone did now work. We were eventually told that ice had to be ordered through room service, as did all tea and coffee, each comes with a $2.50 delivery charge and of course, you have to tip the guy. The mini bar items were not all available and the items we did purchase were never replaced, for the following evening. These little things really tainted our view of the hotel and we felt that we were being squeezed for every cent they could possibly get from us, and for a hotel that charges the rates they do, this is not fair. We will not be staying there again.

Trip Type: Romance Review 6 of 17Four Stars?
First of all, the city of Chicago hotel tax and outragous parking costs have to be considered when considering the cost of your stay. My price seemed reasonable for 4-star accomodations. Sutton House is a very classy place, but the room itself is small and nothing special. Average bed, but has nice bathrooms! Obviously, the location just off Rush St. & the Mag. Mile was great.

Trip Type: Business Review 8 of 17Not up to trendy image
This hotel tries to be trendy, but doesn't quite succeed. Very helpful and courteous staff, but some room service food was mediocre, my room on lower floor in the back overlooked sometimes noisy HVAC in building next door, no flat screen TV, lower sheet on bed was completely untucked and I had to remake it! Noisy guests in the hall late at night woke me up on several occasions.

Trip Type: With Friends Review 10 of 17The Lone Hotel
There was nothing "special" about this hotel, it was just normal. I've stayed in hotels where they were much more elegant. Also the location is a good distance from Michigan so the hotel wasn't really busy with guests and it was on the weekend.

Trip Type: Romance Review 11 of 17NEVER AGAIN
FOR THE MONEY I SPENT THIS HOTEL WAS NOT WORTH IT. IT LOOKS NICE BUT THAT'S ALL. THE SHOWER WAS DISAPPOINTINGLY LUKE WARM. THE ROOM WAS SMALL AND WAS NOT WHAT I EXPECTED. THIS WAS SUPPOSED TO BE ME AND MY FIANCE'S HOTEL, BUT TO TELL YOU THE TRUTH LAST WEEKEND WE SPENT TWO NIGHTS AT A LA QUINTA HOTEL AND ENJOYED OURSELVES TOTALLY AT A MUCH REDUCED PRICE. NEVER AGAIN AT THE SUTTUN. THE ONLY THING I ENJOYED WAS THE ATTENTIVENESS OF THE STAFF OF HOTELS.COM

Trip Type: With Friends Review 12 of 17Just OK - upgrades needed.
Overall our expectations were meet. Would except an upgraded TV. The bathroom was the area that gave us pause. There was mold around the shower hinges and some of the caulking. Not to be expected in a hotel with four stars. Service was very good in the hotel, the service in the hotel bar was dreadful.

I was overcharged with use of the mini bar by double.

Trip Type: Family Review 14 of 17Better spent elsewhere
Nice lobby, but the rooms themselves missing a lot of things you would expect in a hotel like this. TV was old, shower leaked water all over the floor, could hear people in rooms around us. I'll look for someplace else my next visit.
