Trip Type: Romance Review 1 of 32Might not be worth the "Hard Rock" experience
Checking in and out was great, along with curbside valet, though pricey. TV wouldn't work for more than half our 3 day stay, hot water didn't work one full day, loud parties all into the early morning. Onsite clubs were overpriced and very packed. Everything came with a price, and a very high one at that. Our first time at the hotel, and it was overall enjoyable, but not for economical reasons. Great location within walking distance of everything downtown, but we (wife and I) ultimately felt that we were just another typical guest and were treated according to what we paid for. Would recommend a different hotel(s) for next potential trip.

Trip Type: Family Review 3 of 32Such a cool hotel but stay was a nightmare
The hotel is very cool/trendy. Loved the art and decor as well as the lobby and bar area. All Aveda bath products were a nice touch. Rooms on the Hardrock website are nothing like what they look like in real life. Every penthouse is totally different and the pictures shown on the website are the most expensive version for that level room. Hotel accidently charged me twice for my room. Bill had $130 worth of mini bar charges that were false (I travel weekly and have never ever had this happen before). I had to call and get the extra charges removed from my credit card statement. All rockstar penthouses are located directly above the late night club so you can forget about sleeping. I had even told them I was coming with my 50 yr old mother for her birthday and no one warned me about the noise on that side of the hotel... 1,ooo square foot rooms "with balcony" were not a balcony at all it was a ledge with a railing. Needless to say I was totally disapointed in the hotel and totally over priced!

Trip Type: Romance Review 4 of 32noisy, dirty, etc
This is a fairly new hotel and the room we stayed in (the woodstock suite) was a huge disappointment. The toilet paper holder was hanging on by one screw. The room had a large deck, which apparently previous guests smoked cigarettes at and did not close the glass door; hence the room smelt horribly of cigarette smoke. The previous guests had spilt soda all over the walls and the housekeeping crew failed to clean it. Previous guests had split a bottle of liquid on the carpet in front of the couch and the carpet remained wet during our stay. Furniture is being scratched and destroyed by heavy, careless, intoxicated guests. Every hour either a trolley passes by the hotel or a freight train and is quite disturbing.

Trip Type: With Friends Review 5 of 32Hardrock has no service
It's been my experience that all Hard Rock hotels have poor service. Valet is the only option as the hotel in San Diego is located downtown. We had to wait almost 45 minutes for them to bring the car around as there were only two guys on the schedule. It was overwhelming and the manager never showed face to assure the guests they would eventually get their car. I think this was the last time I would ever stay at the Hard Rock.

room was nice but the service of the hotel was terrible. creepy people all around and the people that work their can barely walk straight. they lost my car at the valet and couldnt find cause they said i had already checked out. nice play to party with a bunch of people but not necessary to get a room for the price paid, much better places surrounding it.

Trip Type: Family Review 7 of 32NOT FOR FAMILIES
The Hard Rock staff was polite and courteous. The hotel is clean and the location is ideal. However, do not stay here if you have children. The guests was similar to what you would find at a fraternity or spring break. Very young, very drunk, and very wild. I am not saying there isn't a place for this and I am certainly not knocking the hotel for catering to this demographic but the hotel should advertise with a disclaimer that is caters to this element.

The hotel is beautiful but we were not advised of a dress code on the weekend. Hotel is located blocks from Petco Park - we went to the baseball game and could not get a drink in the hotel after the game. Also a private party was held on Saturday. Hotel guests were moved to the courtyard, away from the pool...very few chairs were put out, without cushions and the view was the back of couches set out for the private party guests.

Trip Type: Business Review 13 of 32Great hotel, noisy location
The Hard Rock Hotel is convenient to Gas Lamp Quarter and the convention center. Unfortunately it also is right across the street from a trolley stop and commuter train. These run throughout the night and are quite loud. Not the place to stay if you need quiet to sleep. However, the staff was very friendly and helpful. The bar is pretty nice and the decor is swanky.

Trip Type: Not Provided Review 14 of 32It was ok
The hotel is nice. It is a modern hotel. Very clean. It is located in a very trendy place the gaslamp district. It is a little noisy as there is a night club in the hotel. The parking is very expensive. There are locations to park but that is costly too.

Trip Type: With Friends Review 15 of 32Watch out for extra charges
after my stay at the HArd Rock, I was charged an extra $78.10. the hotel said it was for use of the room's mini bar, but we did not even touch the mini bar. We bought a wine bottle and 3 water bottles at the World Market across the street and left them in the room's trash bin. The hotel tried to say that it was their wine and water we used from their mini bar. The good thing is that I called and complained about the false charges and amount was credited back to my card. Will not stay their again. There are too many other good hotels in the Gaslamp District that will not try to be sneaky...
