Location & Atmosphere: This hotel was a bit far from the center of the city. Also, in general this hotel had the feeling of a cheap "spring break" style hotel...there were a lot of young people and in general the decor and atmosphere was outdated and a bit rough around the edges. The beaches on this end of town tend to have more local bums spending time there, the beaches near the Royal Hawaiin are much better for atmosphere and the type of people. The hotel decor is tired, which makes it not feel quite as clean. If this is the only hotel available in your budget, it will serve the purpose. If you are looking for a very clean and relaxing oasis, I think you will be dissapointed. On my trip I also stayed at the Sheraton Princess for the same price (actually slightly less), and felt that location was much better and the experience overall there was better. Hotel Staff: The evening staff were friendlier and more responsive than the day staff. My traveling companion checked in before me, and left a key at the desk. When I got it, the clerk gave me the wrong room key, I walked into a mans room!!! The staff did not really appologize or offer anything to make up for this scary error. At times the day staff were actually rude and terse. Traveling With a Car: On the positive, there is a zoo parking lot just across the street, so if you rent a car you can stash it there for a few hours at a time for a few coins...and the road the hotel is on does lead right to the highway, so that was convenient. To park a car overnight is valet only. (cant park overnight in zoo lot)

Trip Type: Romance Review 4 of 51Hope your not staying to sleep here
The price was "somewhat affordable" at 150$ or so a night, and the location was right across from waikiki beach. Now thats all I can say that is good. Pool closes around 6ish PM (at sundown) and the hotel rooms feel like tiny closets. The beds are not even queens, like the website claimed, they are fulls, so you get to "squeeze" together, on a bed that taco's up. The center of the bed was so soft and sunk, i had to request more pillows just to feel like i was "laying" instead of sitting. The TV didn't have any channels programmed, you had to manually select any channel you wanted to watch rather than UP or DOWN. The view out the balcony was acceptable and nice, but the room left me with back aches. I will never stay here again, the halls were filled with noise by 7am. Sleep was just not "available" so only stay in this hotel if you want a "storage" area for your luggage while in honolulu!

The hotel rooms were very, very small and the hotel in gernal is old. However, the hotel staff was wonderful. Extremely friendly and helpful.

The only good thing was the location, right across from the beach and near the zoo. This hotel needs major renovations.

Inside guest rooms: Walls and counters are beat up. Bathroom was dark and "unfriendly."

Trip Type: Family Review 9 of 51A place to sleep, if only the rooms were as nice as the lobby
The location is great! If you are looking for just a cheap place to stay for a few nights, this is it. The bathroom has a lot to be desired. Felt very dirty. None of the electrical outlets worked in the bathroom area We called maintenance everyday for 3 days but it was never fixed. We had one outlet by the bed to charge camera batteries, cell phones, dry or curl your hair - with no mirror, and use the coffee pot. A little inconvenience. The lobby is beautiful - don't let that get your hopes up for the room. We were "upgraded" to a room with the view of the ocean - there was a large air conditioning unit out our window, if you could see above the AC unit, you could see water. I wouldn't want to spend an entire week there - it is not real comfortable, but a few days, if you're looking for cheap, is fine. The person at the desk to help plan excursions was not helpful. Do some reading on your own before you go. The hours that they are available to book things is only during the day, when you are already off doing something else. So plan well in advance. The restaraunt was very good, not overly priced for burgers etc, large portions - easily could've been shared by two - and a nice ocean view. The location again is a great place to catch the buses for trips - only a short walk to the other end of the block. If you are using a cab to get back to the airport, call ahead (the guy in the lobby will make the arrangements for you) they were very late picking us up - almost missed our flight.

The hotel looked great from the pictures on the internet. From the outside of the hotel and the lobby it looked great until you get off the elevator. Then the carpeting looks all worn out and the walls all marked up like someone had repeatedly ran into the walls with something black. The beds were comfortable, but the room needed updating. The room looked as if the room hadn't renovated since the sixties. The heater/air conditioner was ancient and we couldn't figure out how to use it.The carpet was all stained and dirty looking. There were cracks in the walls around the vents and in the ceiling. The view was very nice. Got what we paid for with the view. The bathroom was clean and adiquit.

Trip Type: Special Event Review 12 of 51Repairs Needed
This hotel is in an excelent location but it is not well maintained. When we arrived, the roof of the lobby was leaking in several (truly, several) places. Buckets and caution tape were placed throughout the lobby. Many of the ceiling panels were missing in very large sections, which is always a disconcerting sight. The hotel staff was pleasant and courteous. Our room was a bit worse for the wear: rotting wood, chipping paint, worn tiles, and becoming outdated. And seemingly unimportant, there was nowhere to place soap and shampoo in the shower. Where's the tile soap holder? It made showering annoying, and guess what? I'm at a beach and want to rinse off and wash myself. Thanks for your attention.

Trip Type: With Friends Review 13 of 51PUBLIC AREAS DIRTY, STAINED AND GROSS
The Park Shore gives you a good value for location and price, but on this trip - there were leaks in the lobby from rainstorms causing the ceiling tiles to collapse. Almost everything was wet or damp with mildewed carpets, stained and falling tiles, police tape and scaffolding everywhere in attempts to patch the gapping holes. The hotel rooms are dated and worn – which one can understand for the price, but the dirty, war torn lobby left me grossed out and not wanting to touch anything. In my opinion, they need to put money into the hotel – or at least in the public areas.

For the most part it was all right but there were some definite issues. The bedspread on the bed was stained and that bothered me. Most of the the front office staff were rude and unfriendly. They were the only people in Hawaii that I ran into who were not willing to help and provide positive suggestions. The air conditioning work but you were either cold or hot no middle ground
