Trip Type: Not Provided Review 2 of 12Good Hotel Poor service
When we arrived with baggage there was no one to assist us with our baggage. However when we struggled our way into the lobby the doorman busy busy engaginging a very attractive young woman in a very short skirt in conversation. after checking in we decided to go out for dinner the doorman outside was too busy shooting the breeze with a truck drive and we had to get our own taxi. The next day we went out early and left the light on for the room to be made up and when we returned at about 2pm the room had still not been made up. we finally called and then had to again go out while they did this.

Trip Type: Family Review 3 of 12Luxury Hotel with Poor Service
The Palace is of course a beautiful hotel. The renovation was very nice, room was very comfortable. However, the customer service was mediocre. When we called the concierge to place a dinner reservation, they had forgot about it. A mistake not to be made at a 4.5 star hotel. Furthermore, the staff that pick up phones speak poor English, thus customers spend longer time to explain simple things. If the New York Palace had better customer service, I would definitely recommend it to others. However, my experience with several of the staff there was poor. Therefore, the overall value for the price I paid was diminished.

Trip Type: With Friends Review 5 of 12disappointing!
I was not happy with the cleanliness of the room. it was dusty! and if I pay that much for a room, I want it to be clean.. the service to be friendly at the front desk! AND PLZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ COFFEE ! no coffee in the rooms.. and 1 coffee in the restaurant is $5! so if that's your thing! go for it!

Trip Type: Business Review 6 of 12Not worth the money
The hotel is very nice. I was, however, expecting more from a five star hotel in Manhattan. Everything extra was twice as much as it would be anywhere else and the quality wasn't better. The internet was $16/day but the wireless was overloaded and barely worked. Luckily, there was a wired connection that was actually usable. There was no iron, but they do offer 24h dry cleaning and pressing. 1 shirt is $15 to press, $17 to dry clean. I had a treatment in the hotel spa. There slogan is "Exceptional, even in New York". The only thing exceptional about the spa the was the price. The masseuse herself said the hotel needed an upgrade. During my treatment there was constant noise from a nearby water main and the men's locker room next door. For twice the price of a normal spa treatment I was expecting something special. Instead I was shocked by something that was obviously added onto the hotel as an afterthought.

Trip Type: Not Provided Review 7 of 12Good service, yet not a good deal.
Everything is chargable in this hotel, just like internet access rate is $15.99/day. All the others feels ok.

We were placed in a corner room of the older section of the hotel. The bath was tiny. The worse part of the entire trip was our early morning wake-up call of the hotel dumpsters below! The before 6:00 a.m. noise, every morning of the dumpsters being emptied was deafening. The staff, bellhops and maids, were kind and attentive. The lobby and hotel location were fine. We paid for a luxury hotel yet were given budget rate accommodations.

Trip Type: Family Review 10 of 12Disappointed
First, the good. The hotel is beautiful, clean and in a wonderful location. But, the multiple inconveniences outweighed the good, leaving me with a negative experience. First, we pre-ordered a rollaway. When we arrived, we were told that was a misunderstanding and we could not have one due to local laws...2 beds per room maximum. As I have a child that MUST sleep alone, that was not the right answer and left me sleepless. Second, when ordering a cab, the doorman pushed me to a "private limo" instead of a cab, which tried to ding me for $35 for a 2 mile ride. The hotel manager eventually reimbursed us after our complaints. Restaurant recommendations from concierge were awful. A cherry coke in the hotel bar/restaurant for my son cost $10! I guess I was naive thinking things would be otherwise. The saying "We aren't in Kansas anymore, Toto" kept running through my head! Be forewarned. If none of these things seem out of line to you, the hotel is for you. If not, .....!

The hotel was beautiful. The hotel staff was awful. Our stay began with a very rude woman at the front desk. Check-in was 3 pm. At 3 pm she told us that she had absolutley no idea what time we would be able to check in. She acted as if we were pestering her for trying to check-in. I called hotels.com and told them about the problem. They put me on hold and called the manager. They came back on the line and said that they straightened out the problem and that our rooms were immediatley ready. Hotels.com was great. I will definitely use them in the future. Another problem that we had was our experience in the restuarant. A 3-ring circus. They mixed up our orders and 2 of the 3 of us had to wait while they fixed our orders. The prices were very expensive. The issues that we had to deal with are not ones that you would expect at a 5 star hotel. The housekeeping staff were the most pleasant people in the building. They should be running the front desk and the restuarant. There are plenty of great places to stay in NYC. Don't waste your money here.

Trip Type: Rest and Recreation Review 12 of 12Beautiful hotel, no hot water
The hotel was very beautiful, especially decorated for the Christmas holiday. Unfortunately, there was no hot water in the morning. I called the desk and they said there was a problem and the hotel maintenance was working on it. We could not shower since the water was so cold. At check-out I mentioned this problem to the staff, but they offered no compensation. A discount or breakfast voucher would have gone a long way in making me saifisfied.
