Trip Type: Not Provided Review 1 of 10didn't know there were two sections
When I arrived I saw a very nice hotel with a very spacious and nice looking lobby. I was then directed by its front desk to the east tower. That's when I learned that there are two very different sections to the hotel as I now see other reviews are pointing out. I feel that all the positive reviews are for the main tower and not so much for the east tower I was in. The side I stayed at was a business hotel, and so the rooms were small. The look of the whole area and lobby appeared old and small as well. You're even given a key with a large key chain containing your room number on it. Something I haven't seen in years now that many hotels have gone to credit card like keys. The hotel staff was nice though, and all members I needed to communicate with spoke enough English to have an understanding both ways. The main tower seemed to have staff that was better with English though. Compared with other hotels in Japan, the east tower staff however wasn't as good, and so I felt they were more around average to good versus great and amazing. There were even a small couple of times I felt I had to go through a little more trouble than I should have with them. The best part about this hotel is location. Being right across the street from the Shinagawa train station was very nice. This may especially interest you if you plan to use the shinkansen or simply travel around the JR loop line to several popular spots in Japan. If you plan to use the subways more, this may not be a spot for you, as this is mostly a main JR stop.

Trip Type: Family Review 2 of 10North Tower a disappointment
The location of the Shinagawa Prince Hotel being conveniently located right next to the Tokyo Shinagawa Station was great. However the accommodations in the North Tower were very disappointing. To be taken in through the front lobby of the beautiful main tower and then brought to "back" of the property to what I would consider to be a mere business hotel was very disappointing. The room was very, very small, and conditions of the room were left to be desired. There was actually mildew and mold in the bathroom. For a Prince Hotel, I had exptected much more. I would hope that the conditions of the Main Tower rooms are better than the North Tower. I may consider staying there in the future, but never again in the North Tower.

Trip Type: Business Review 3 of 10Not bad
I stayed in the East Tower, which is not nearly as nice as the North Tower, but it is not that bad. The room is very small and has probably the smallest bathroom I have ever seen, but is was very clean. The downside to staying in the East Tower (besides the size) is that the internet access is pretty expensive, about 1000 yen/day. The only other complaint that I have with this hotel is that they advertise a pool, but the pool costs money to use too, it's not free. The great thing about this hotel is that it is right across the street from the train station. There is a nice food market in the train station and plenty of restaurants around the hotel. I really enjoyed the hotel's sky bar which has an amazing view of the city. If you are looking for a cheap and convenient hotel in Tokyo, this is not a bad choice.

Trip Type: Not Provided Review 5 of 10over priced and very small
not only does hotel is over priced for the quality and size, but on top of that you can't even watch tv, you have to pay additional as well if you want to use their pool. I stayed in the north tower, which is hard to find, the rooms are so small and uncomfortable that you barely have space to move around and fit your luggage. I wouldn't recommend or stay at this hotel again, friendly staff but difficult to communicate with.

Trip Type: Not Provided Review 6 of 10Over Priced
The cost of the spending the night is not worth the price paid. Although it says there is a pool you are not told before booking that the pool cost money, plus if you want to sit in a chair while at the pool be prepared to pay double the cost of entry to the pool. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

Trip Type: Overnight Stay Review 8 of 10Decent location, poor air conditioning
Pretty nice views from the higher floors. Most staff was very friendly and accommodating. Very small rooms, but that is to be expected in Tokyo. Biggest disappointment was the quality of the air conditioning. Even after setting thermostat to mid 60's, the lowest we could get temperature was about 75. This was the case in both rooms we stayed in, during different parts of our trip.

Trip Type: Special Event Review 9 of 10Prince....of What?
The Shinagawa Prince is actualy several hotels. The "main tower", the one I stayed at, is the pits. Actually, the rooms are so small, the word "pit" does even cover it. Wait. Is a closet a pit? If so, maybe the word does apply. As an example, you cannot open the bathroom door all the way because it hits the wall. On the other hand, the body heat of one person is enough to warm the entire room. It was snowing outside but I turned off the heat.
