Trip Type: Overnight Stay Review 1 of 42Hard to find entrance. For hip young crowd.
My daughter booked this hotel for me. I was returning from Hawaii and on my way back to Boston with a stopover to see her in LA. We had difficulty finding the entrance which was through a parking lot. A party was going on as I entered. Noisy. (I just wanted a good night's sleep..) It's hip with young people. Very modern. Minimalist. (I couldn't find anything to put my suitcase on to unpack.) The front desk were very nice and accommodating. They booked me a room on the top floor away from the noise. (However, they were party goers celebrating in the hallway outside my room; fortunately not for long, just in passing.) I personally wouldn't choose to stay her again.

Trip Type: With Friends Review 6 of 42Just wasn't really clean
This was fun hotel. The pool, bars and lounges we're all very nice. The vibe of the rooms and hallways was very college dormitory-like. My primary concern was the feeling of my room not being quite as clean as it should be. The grout was dirty and there were rust stains in the tub. I would probably not stay there again, but I would visit for the pool and bars.

Trip Type: Special Event Review 7 of 42Don't Believe The Hype
The rooms are not meant for comfort. The low bed and even lower tv were far from meeting "the standard" expectations. The room furnishings were less than maintained. The prices were outrageous for the quality of room and service. The desk personnel were far from friendly and inviting. The only interesting feature was the roof lounge. I have to say that was an amazing feature.

Trip Type: Romance Review 8 of 42Not so great for the money
This hotel is expensive for what it is worth. We booked an extra large room and was upgraded to a gigantic room because it was not available. Wouldn't say the larger rooms are worth it but we stayed in a medium room too, which was worth what the price was. The roof top bar/pool is nice. This hotel is not all it is hyped up to be but is decent overall and is a hotel you should only stay at once to see how it is.

Trip Type: With Friends Review 9 of 42Watch Out For Extra Charges Not Explained on Website
The hotel certainly does provide a classic retro feel from the moment you walk in the door. But like true L.A. fashion, they require your car to be valet parked, which is a rather expensive charge not clearly explained on the hotels.com website, the charge for parking PER DAY is $30.00 plus tax, a complete rip-off. That alone will surely turn your mood sour if you are not prepared. When we finally got to the room, we were upgraded to a "huge" room from the "extra-large" room we reserved online. A nice sized room for two people, but didn't stay in it long as the rooftop lounge and bar was calling our name. After getting settled, we headed up top to a great rendezvous straight out of the 70's. Drinks were pricey but that is to be expected. Even the bathrooms were original in style! Overall, this hotel is a nice place to stay, but you better come prepared to spend money. Also, go to the library bar directly diagonal to the hotel - great place with fairly priced drinks.

Trip Type: Business Review 10 of 42Don't stay there if you want to sleep
Parties on roof-top bar going on every night. People running around screaming, jumping all night. Loud music in adjacent rooms every night until 3am. Front desk didn't do anything about it. Definitely not a hotel suitable for business people who need to get up rested in the morning!

Rooms are pretty cool, but it is a frat house. People were partying on our floor all night.

Trip Type: With Friends Review 12 of 42Not the most comfortable room
Waaay too minimalist. One wastebasket for whole room, no cups or glasses in bathroom, one robe instead of two, 1 ply toilet paper, thin worn-out sheets, rough towels... just lots of little things that add up. I expected alot more luxury for a 3 1/2 star rated hotel.

Trip Type: Family Review 13 of 42It's 2 am and we still haven't been invited to the party
The hotel staff was very accomodating when they moved us to a different floor at 2 in the morning. That was the good news. The bad news is that the next door party was still in full swing. The inference is that the hotel caters to a late night crowd and quiet and sleep do not necessarily become the top requirements for guests. A more basic query is whether the ownership would wish to reconsider its condescending marketing comments in the lobby in which they disparage Midwestern dullards. If the ownership group is informed, they would know that Iowa is the new 'hip' place. Gay marriage is legal and Obama got his start there -- not in California. You need to get with the times and keep up with the flatlanders.

Room was too small, the TV stand was too low, the bathroom lighting low and sink set up too ackward.

Trip Type: With Friends Review 15 of 42Needs Better Rooms
The hotel has some cool features, like the roof bar. However, the rooms leave you wishing for something more. The rooms are very minimalistic. There was no drawers for us to places our clothing (i.e. socks), just a closet with hangers and some cubbie holes. The TV was on a stand so low to the ground, that you could not watch TV in bed, unless you were propped up. Just didn't meet my expectations for the money.
