Trip Type: Business Review 1 of 39"Returned but disappointed"
stayed at this hotel in March and looked forward to returning but this October booking was much more expensive! Did not feel "worth it." Was assigned to a tight little room with no view and food smell Asked and was immediately given a larger room. (good customer service) Bed was not at all comfortable. And while there was nothing to complain there was also nothing to praise. Next visit to San Francisco will not be spent here.

Trip Type: Special Event Review 2 of 39Pretty little SARDINE CAN!
Due to a concert in the area, I wanted to find a hotel that was close, yet, comfortable. The prices were very reasonable for the quality type of hotel that this hotel is rated. The lobby is exquisite...then you get to your room and you can barely fit in the door, barely walk around the bed and barely sit on the toilet without hitting your knees on the wall. The first room that I was given was not even cleaned and they had to move me to another room which late in the evening was somewhat aggravating. If you just need a place for the night to lay your head and its last minute, go for it. But, if you are planning a nice weekend, KEEP LOOKING!

Trip Type: Business Review 3 of 39Could use a bit of sound proofing
This hotel was OK. It is located in the Union Station area, walking distance to convention center, but also quite a bit of noise from the street and adjacent rooms. Hotel was fine for the amount of time spent there but would not rush to stay again.

Trip Type: Business Review 4 of 39Noisy & Quaint
Be sure to ask for an inside room, as the cable car runs till late and starts early. Room was small, shower a little on the dingy side. Bathroom was so small that your leg rubbed on the toliet paper holder when you went to the bathroom. Not enough outlets for electronics, which was an inconvenience.

The amount paid for the hotel was not what you should get in the inside of your room. If your allergic to pets try a different hotel. They should focus on the details of the rooms, remove rust from showersk, take two minutes to paint corners and replace those small blankets-dingy. The location is definately convenient for shopping!

Trip Type: Romance Review 7 of 39Great location but ridiculously small but nice rooms
I booked this hotel because it had high reviews on hotels.com and the price seemed like such a good deal. The hotel was really nice, I loved the decor, and you can't beat the location. I was just really disapoointed with how small the room was. You cannot even roll a luggage bag around the bed. It was almost a joke how small it was. I would chose this hotel if you're looking to be on union square and out all day, not if you're looking for luxury or pampering of yourself by staying in a nice room.

Trip Type: Overnight Stay Review 8 of 39Could have been much better
The carpet was dingey ans stained. There was ALOT of street noise. The hotel was chilly and there was no thermostat available. The room was much much smaller then anticipated. This hotel was located in a prime area and the building was decorated very nice but lacked in many ways. San Francisco has a wonderfull Public Transportation system, it would be more beneficial to stay further from the prime area and use the BART system to get around.

Trip Type: Romance Review 11 of 39Needs Some Work
The Hotel was a great location and pretty, but the room was very tiny. The bathroom doornob was broken and if we shut the door it wouldn't open. We had to call maintance to come so we could get out of the bathroom.

Trip Type: Romance Review 12 of 39Didn't get any sleep
The pillows on the bed went flat and the bed was like muss. i got up in the morning to take a shower and the lights went off in the bathroom. I didn't plug in anything. I called the front desk, they stated a bulb must have gone out, cant we come and change it. I said, I'm not dressed. There were kids jumping up and down on the next floor and about half hour later, the lights in the bathroom came back on after I tried to wash in the dark ... my experenice was bad. Plus, they use to have a wine hour, they no have that either. I won't stay here anymore. The only thing that was good, was the location.

The room was really noisy. Some work needs to go into better sound proofing. Also, the internet service (advertised as free) was too slow to be usable.

Trip Type: Family Review 14 of 39Pretty is only skin deep
Everything looked pretty, but the tub had white paint all over it and the stopper/plug didn't work. The walls were very thin and I was woken up every time someone came down the hallway, which seemed to be every hour from 4:30am-6:30am. A lot of other hotels to choose from so probably won't go back again.

it's just not a good hotel to stay in and you shouldn't. location: yes it is "centrally located", but union square is basically a mall patronized largely by tourists preyed upon by san fran's standing army of homeless. should you want a rich experience while here - or even have access to restaurants that serve decent food/stay open a little later, avoid this area. the hotel: it's basically a nice lobby...and not much more. the 'free wireless in every room' is a joke - they moved us twice because our computers just couldn't find or load the net. they said it was a consistent problem and gave us a 'signal booster' ...which is tantamount to snake oil. it's just a lie, this 'wireless' thing and i think particularly dangerous for even the average person who now makes travel arrangements via the web/depends upon that offer. the hotel staff, while nice, just aren't particularly good at what they do. and everything is pumpkin orange. EV RE THING. and in spite of all the 'renovations' done, the furniture is still cheesy and just not enough to cover up the fundamental flaws with the building itself (old could be quaint, but here it just feels...dilapidated.) get a place in nob hill or the mission or...any place other than here.
