This hotel is coupled with an excellent restaurant, hotel is clean but the room was on par with a motor motel. The 20 inch TV probably said it best

Trip Type: Business Review 3 of 26no water
It was unacceptable to me that an entire wing of the hotel did not have water in the morning. No shower, no washing your hands, brushing your teeth, flushing the toilet. The front desk suggested I use the public restroom in the other wing of the hotel. Come on, I paid for a room with water! The hotel could have handled the situation much better than they did. Very disappointing

Terrific restaurant, but expensive! Remainder was a disappointment. Spa was broken, coffee pot in the room leaked and was broken, original room (moved) reeked of tobacco (non-smoking hotel?), view outside my window was of a hillside 4 (four) feet away. Should have stayed at the Hilton next door for less money.

During our stay, we experienced multiple and signficant bites on our backs, stomachs, and necks. The bed was unfortunately not clean, at least from insects. We were disappointed, also, with the way the hotel handled special requests. For example, I asked whether they could loan me a broom--or even a broomstick--to allow me to do some physical therapy exercises. Hotel personnel were obsessed with the rules that kept them from allowing anything into the room that was not otherwise in there. No room for creativity in the realm of guest compliance! This was really sad. We witnessed many other examples of the above shortcomings, with other guests (e.g., at the pool) complaining about how the hotel personnel could not comply with (or understand) basic guest needs, and how the rules set by management dimmed the guests' experience. This was a "not staying there again" experience. Tim and Carol

Trip Type: With Friends Review 7 of 26Cosmetically pretty
The first thing that we noticed when we walked into the lobby was that the place looked beautiful and were all very excited to check out our rooms. Our rooms were located in a separate building and as soon as we walked in, we were overwhelmed with the fishy/sewer smell. Luckily as we went upstairs the smell dissipated but walking through that smell each time we entered or excited the building was nauseating. The beds were comfortable but the couch had some dirt and a rubberband sitting on it. We noticed the duvet cover had some greyish black stain on it. The best part of the stay was the hotel's restaurant Equus. They had delicious food and great service. I definitely recommend the French Toast. It will be unlike anything you've ever eaten before.

Trip Type: Family Review 11 of 26Reluctant Service
While the hotel was clean and aesthetic looking, the service was lousy. It started at check in where the attitude was "I guess I have to check you in, but you are really inconveniencing me." It seemed that every request we made was "Sorry, we don't do that" and no advice or alternatives given. This even applies for services listed in their own brochure - "well, we don't do that anymore" Bottom line, we were disappointed and greatly inconvenienced - we will not return.

Trip Type: Not Provided Review 13 of 26Second trip here in a month was night and day
To review, I had stayed at the hotel just a few weeks prior to this visit. Found a great last minute deal on a junior suite, which was a big, comfortable 2nd story, corner suite in the main building that would have been great for entertaining or a couples getaway. This time I booked the same room type at an almost identical price (30% or so off) to my previous visit. This time though, my room was in the 2nd building and was not on the corner. It was built like a railroad apartment. It essentially seemed like a normal room with a small living room right were you come in from the hallway. I never sat on the couch or turned on the TV, I just walked past this area every time I came in. The bathroom was much smaller than the previous jr. suite I stayed in, with the vanity on the outside. So I was bummed that even with the discount I was getting a far inferior room to the one I had booked previously. Perhaps I had been artificially set up for disappointment because of my initial stay, but that's Fountaingrove's issue, no mine. These are two very different caliber rooms and should be categorized as such. So obviously I'm not thrilled from the get go. Now my first night's stay was on St. Patrick's day. I booked three nights at the Inn as I had offered the use of my home to a friend. So I go out in my home town to celebrate the festivities at a friend's house. At the end of the night, before I hop in my cab, my host offers me some of his left over favors, a half a case of stout, some Irish whiskey, some Tequila. So I take it with me back to the Fountaingrove, throw the beer in the mini-fridge and the booze I sit on the counter above. Then I proceed to forget that I have it. The next day I leave the hotel and go about my business. When I finally get back around 10pm I decide to crack a beer only to discover that the beer and alcohol have disappeared. I call the front desk, but it's so late they don't an answer for me. The next morning I check in at the front desk and they te

Trip Type: Not Provided Review 14 of 26Not what I expected
The Hotel was close to the Freeway and clean. Unfortunately I feel we did not get what we paid for. The hotel itself is small, ceilings are low so if you are over 6'2" you are going to have a problem. The room was really small, the shower had little to no water pressure and the walls are quite thin. The staff were friendly. If I ever need to travel that way again, I will definitely considered staying at antoher hotel.

Trip Type: Business Review 15 of 26DO NOT STAY IN ROOM 120!
House Keeping and their supplies are located behind the wall of where your the headboard of the bed is. At 5:30AM house keeping will be gathering up their supplies to start their day without regard for who may be sleeping in the adjacent room. In addition, the evening Registration Clerk was delayed by 10 minutes prior to attending us and followed up with being rude. We were perfectly ok with waiting but when he chose to be rude after we were kind enough to wait for hims was unacceptable. We expected more for the price we paid and unfortunately this does not mean you will receive excellent customer service!
