Nice room for the money

I would not pay summer rates for this hotel. It was very nice for the off season rates. First room they gave us was very smelly but they graciously moved us to another room.

Somewhat disappointed with some aspects of stay...

The hotel was in a great location and the appearance on the exterior was great. We enjoyed our 2 day stay but would have liked for some things to have been updated in the room. The pullout sofa was purely springs and was outdated. Also, it appeared that housekeeping must have quickly cleaned the surface but didn't double check the room as one bed had a long black hair down in the sheets and a cooking pot was placed back in the cabinets while still being dirty. The countertops had not been wiped down and had food stuck to them and last but not least, hair was attached to the shower walls. The bathtub itself was the only thing in the room that appeared to be up to date and we enjoyed the water pressure. The hotel staff was kind and friendly but were limited on how they were able to fix problems, which was disappointing. If you don't mind paying quite a bit of money for an outdated, maybe not clean room with beds that are uncomfortable, pick this one! I honestly wouldn't pay what we paid again and hotels.com was running a special for one night free. That's the main reason I chose this hotel to begin with. Once in Myrtle Beach, I realized hotels were a dime a dozen and many advertised great walk in rates. I might just take my chances or rent a house next time.

Wouldn't stay there again

We stayed in a one bedroon suite our pull out sofa sleeper was broken. We slept on it one night, which was miserable. I mentioned it to housekeeping and she stated it has been broken and reported for a least 2 weeks and it was mantenance's responsibility to do something about it. She couldn't believe that they hadn't fixed it. We then reported to the hotel and they gave us a new room. There was no offer to assist us in the move. Later that evening we found out that the had placed new guests into that room. The new sofa sleeper wasn't broken, but it wasn't comfortable for anyone including the kids! Requested additional blankets, which they were out of. I was told by staff they would get back to us. They never did. I would look at another facility before going back to the Best Western Carolinian.

FALLING OFF !

missing a cover door on the A/C unit, & the Sauna wasn't working properly,& the excercise room is so small & has hardly enuff equipment there!!!! Mattresses hard & the living room furniture in this room 431 was a mess!

Needs lots of improvement

I was not happy with the quality of the room. It was just me and my husband. The room was so small that we could barely move around in. The bathroom was huge but the urnial did not want to flush. It was a total disaster staying there. The room that we were in was too pricy for what i paid.

Not very clean.

The room was not kept clean. Our first night, we noticed hair and dirt at the bottom of the bed in the sheets. I was horrified. Old shampoo bottles were left in the shower.

ok, had a fast elevator and a washer and dryer in the room. The parking building was 2 streets away, the pool was cold, the beach access was awful, paid for ocean front - didn't get it, pull out couch didn't have sheets, so we pulled them off of the other bed, these were never replaced by the staff, no dishtowel and that is all i can think of now. Would not stay again

Many problems

Good location, pool is nice, relatively clean. However, staff is not very responsive to needs. We had very low pressure in our shower, which was not addressed. On the first full day of our stay, we asked for fresh towels in place of full housekeeping, and did not receive them until second call was made, about 6 hours later. We needed to tug hard on the door to have the lock engage. Very slow elevators. It was quicker for us to walk from the 6th floor than to wait for an elevator.

Big Disappointment

We arrived on time for check-in to have to wait an additional hour and 15 minutes to get our room key. No apologies or explanations offered. Locks were broken in both rooms we rented. Water pressure in shower was weak. The television reception was bad. Housekeeping did not show up once to clean room. Hotel seemed greatly understaffed and unwilling to respond to guest needs. Truly disappointing.

Do not stay here

I don't really know where to start with this hotel. But I will just list the things I noticed was wrong with it. There was beer cans sitting on the balcony when I first walked in the room. The shower curtains rod was falling off the wall, which made it so the shower curtain wouldn't stay open for someone to take a shower. The molding around the mirror fell off from the old adhesive pads holding it up to long. The refridgerator was leaking on the floor and created a puddle in front of it. This place was an overall dump. I will never be staying at another best western again.

Expected Better

The Good: Nice beach view, good location. The Bad: Horrible service... we tried calling the front desk every night for a wake up call and they only answered 1 out of 5 nights. The housekeeping service came at 8AM when we were just waking up and came back at 4PM when we were getting ready to go out for the night. So we basically didn't get any housekeeping during out stay. There was a friendly family of cockroaches living right next to the jacuzzi. Our room door wouldn't close unless you slammed it and woke up the neighbors. The indoor pool was always freezing cold, thankfully it was right next to the jacuzzi. We were also a little disappointed with the lack of entertainment at the resort. The previous resorts we stayed at offered a beach side bar, ice cream, karaoke, etc. This resort offers none of that except for an Italian Ice stand. Parking gets a little annoying as well because the parking deck is located 2 blocks away from the hotel. And lastly, the showers are WEAK and only have 2 settings... ice cold and boiling hot. Besides all that, we had a blast in Myrtle Beach!

Needs Improvment

I have stayed at this hotel for the last 4 years. This year they redid all the rooms which looked great. There were only two problems. The staff uses the same elevators as the guests. This makes the elevators slow for most of the day. The other problem was the shower water was so extreme, hot to cold, you could not take an enjoyable shower. That is the main reason we will not be comming back.
