Trip Type: Overnight Stay Review 1 of 40Grt room-ocean frnt-hear ocean from room
Great room for the price. Not new but clean and the fact that it is so close to the water is a big plus++. I could hear the waves when in my bed. I really liked that. You will check in at the Royal Lahaina next door. This is the best part of the island of Maui. Very green and lush. The ocean is sandy here also. Enjoy!

I was in Maui to run the Maui Marathon. In these tough times, it was nice to have a property in the Kaanapali hotel area to offer reasonable rates to us travelers who're pinching pennies. The room was better than I expected and the service at the parent hotel next door was exceptional. The room keys were actual metal keys, but that was not a big deal. Food service was exceptional and will recommend others to this property again.

Trip Type: Special Event Review 7 of 40Outstanding
The hotel was fabulous for the price. It was all the conveniences that you needed with a small sink and refrigerator. Also, you get the benefits of staying in the large resort that it is attached to. Beachfront practically, you can walk to the end of the hotel and be on the beautiful beach in Maui. Make sure you check out the little restaurant by the hotel, the Castaway! It was fabulous. we would definitely come back again. Exceeded our expectations.

Trip Type: Family Review 8 of 40Outstanding place to stay
Maui is an island so it is naturally humid. As we entered into the room for the very first time, we thought it was sticky and smelly. Soon after we had AC on at a full blast, the smell became a thing of the past. The bedding was firm and comfortable. Everything in the room worked and it became very comfortable. Since the place located right in the Royal Lahaina Resort, we had all of the accommodations that the resort has to offer. Royal Lahaina Resort even checked us in and out. How nice! The Kaanapali beach was less than 50 feet of reach and was just beautiful. In comparison with folks who stayed at the resort for the price range of $200 and above, we had no complaints whatsoever for what we had paid and got all the amenities of the resort. The only thing that I experienced that was on a lesser side was the kitchenette facility; tiny refrigerator, tiny sink, tiny counter-top and tiny coffee maker. Since we ate out or ordered the food for the most part of our stay, we did not have to miss any full kitchen facility anyways so we didn't mind the limited kitchen space in the room. We had a family of 5 (all grown teenage children) and enjoyed every bit of our 1-week stay at the Kaanapali Ocean Inn. Highly recommended. Hotels.com was so great for offering such a nice place in Maui. Royal Lahaina Resort hosted the Luau every night and we watched it every night for free right from our balcony until we got sick of it. Come and stay here if you want to save money and enjoy MAUI anyway you can and want.

The hotel is part of a much larger resort. It is tucked away in the corner and you have to go to the big resort to check in. Which the signs are unclear. When you register the ladies at the front desk were very nice, however, the bellman was not once he found out we were in a different area. The room was clean, but just runned down. The top railing to the balcony was loose. They used top sheets for the fitted bottom sheets. It was for one night and the price was right.

Trip Type: With Friends Review 12 of 40Unexpectedly Delighted
This hotel is located within the campus of the high end Royal Lahaina Inn so you get to use all their facilities. They have a travel planning booth at the lobby. Service was wonderful. The only disadvantage is it is right next to the Luau location so there'll be some noise every evening. Since this is an older building within the compounds of the Royal Lahaina Inn, don't expect the room to be similar to those in the newer upgraded building, but I would book this hotel again if I were to return.

Trip Type: With Friends Review 13 of 40Worth it ...
Totally worth the price paid. About 50 steps from the ocean and located in Kananapali resort town ... cannot complain. Decor and building was outdated but worked just perfect for the purpose.

Trip Type: Romance Review 14 of 40Definitely get what you pay for
After reading the reviews I was definitely expecting a dumpy place. HOWEVER, the ocean inn is right next door to a resort that has it all. It is located on a 4 mile golden sand beach that we could watch the sunset from our balcony. Knowing the hotel was built in the 60s it was definitely showing its age- The air conditioning broke the FIRST night we were there and the hotel staff moved us into a cottage. The cottages (being built in the 70s) also showed some age but was very clean and spread out through several acres. Almost as though staying in a private house vs hotel. There was an amazing luau every night and 4 weddings! The main resort that this hotel is next to was listed on the Travel channel, which costs a lost more than the Kaanapali Ocean Inn. If we go back we will definitely chose the Resort, NOT the ocean inn.

Trip Type: Rest and Recreation Review 15 of 40Great room for the money
Having read the reviews, I didn't expect a perfect room, but I was surprised that it was so convenient and quiet. On the day I arrived, early check-in was available and so the whole day was free to explore. I found the walks to the golf course and to the Whalers village very easy and pleasant. I managed without a car and saved money. I would recommend to people who want to spend time out and about rather than in the room.
