Trip Type: Business Review 1 of 88Great location, but service was subpar.
Great location, nice amenities, but was disappointed in the quality of service. I might be a bit of a nitpicker but there are certain things than I anticipate from any hotel and this hotel was lacking a bit. Could have been just a fluke, but this is my honest opinion.

Trip Type: Romance Review 3 of 88Paying for the name
My wife and I were excited to stay in the Hard Rock, but my expectations were tempered somewhat by previous reviews expressing concerns about check-in procedures and housekeeping standards. While the check-in went smoothly, we were unimpressed with the room - contemporary chic is one thing, contemporary minimalist is not for a hotel! The bathroom was dirty (including hair in the bathtub - gross! Housekeeping did not arrive until 4:30 on our second day, when we had already returned from the days activities to unwind before dinner. We asked that they come back in one hour, and they never returned at all! We ordered a simply snack from room service and were told is would be $10. When it finally arrived (without the requested wine glasses) one hour later, the bill was three times the quoted charge! This was adjusted, but still...! We were overcharged for incidentals which had to be credited after we checked out, and when bringing these issues to the attention of on duty manager, she gave the requisite "I'm sorry" but then said she could do nothing! Too many choices in downtown Chicago to have this kind of service!!

Trip Type: Romance Review 5 of 88Hard Rock Chicago
This is an old building with dated accomodations. Ice machines were inoperational on several floors. Rooms were awkwardly laid out undoubtedly due to restrictions from the age of the building. Highly unusual, inexpensive furnishings. Vaguely reminiscent of Disney's All Star Music Resort, but not as nice.

Trip Type: Romance Review 6 of 88Needs Improvement
Check in was at 3pm, we arrived close to 4pm, yet no rooms were ready yet from the night before. We had dinner/theatre reservations starting at 5:30. Waiting in the bar for 30 minutes for our room to be ready was the last thing we wanted. And then the elevators were not working the day we checked out, so we had to use the stairs while lugging suitcases. We just overall felt unwelcomed, and a big burdened by the experience. On a positive note, the rooms are nicely furnished and comfortable.

Trip Type: With Friends Review 7 of 88good location - not so good hotel room
booking thru hotels.com only guarantees a room in the hotel but not the room you want. requested 2 beds, non-smoking. got 1 bed, smoking. it is a really beautiful building and a pretty good location but even tho there was a note on the window, warning of spiders, it's still very disturbing to see spiders in the room. the warning just removes any liability on the hotel's part and still makes for a VERY unsettling stay. the hotel was booked so we were not able to switch to a mom-smoking room until the next day - but spiders definitely do not have a preference for smoking or not. the one king bed for my friend and i was not idea but it was not completely unacceptable since she and i are childhood friends. we did get 2 coupons to the hotel bar for the smoking room and single bed. did i mention that when we were checking in at 6pm, the room still wasn't ready? we left our bags with the concierge and went to grab a bite to eat. we made the best out of a not ideal situation and still enjoyed the city of Chicago, despite the sleepless nights in our room. would definitely go back for the city but not staying at this hotel and i'd pay the regular price for a room that has enough beds, doesn't wreak of smoke and doesn't think a note makes it ok to have spiders in the room.

Trip Type: Romance Review 8 of 88Not worth the HARD BUCKS....
This was booked especially for our 30 th wedding anniversary. We went to check in and heard the agt say to another couple that only smoking rooms were available. The guests were not pleased with the answer. It was our turn and the same response was given. The hotel was overbooked....guests had late check-outs, etc...the maid service was behind...We were given a complimentary drink offer and told that that they would call us when our room was ready... Call never came thru and we ended having to confirm the room again. I was not impressed with the room at all. It was clean but for what I paid for it, I was not impressed. My expectations were a litle higher.

Trip Type: Romance Review 10 of 88Great location but would not stay there again
When I checked in the told me they did not have any King bed non-smoking rooms available... Even though I reserved one online...after about 5 minutes of them telling me they only had smoking rooms they said they found one but they needed to clean it first... This was at 10:00 at night.... We had to wait another 20 minutes so they could clean the room.... This was very annoying since we spent day travelng and just wanted to go to sleep. We finally got the room and it was nice and comfortable.... The next day we left in the morning and returned in evening to find our room had not been cleaned... We called the front desk and again had to wait in lobby while someone cleaned our room before we could go back in.... This is the second time we've stayed here and the last.... We travel to Chicago often and have stayed at better hotels..... I'd rather stay somewhere else

Trip Type: With Friends Review 11 of 88Convenient Location
The hotel is very convenient to the "Magnificent Mile" and Navy Pier! However, I feel the hotel is "overpriced" for the little amenities it offers.

Trip Type: With Friends Review 14 of 88Stay somewhere else
We stayed at the Hard Rock while seeing a couple of Cubs games. It was ok, not that great or bad. If I go back to Chicago I'll stay somewhere else for less money. The rooms were very cheaply put together, paper this walls, doors slamming every five seconds. If you are expecting a really cool and hip hotel as we were try somewhere else.
