Trip Type: With Friends Review 2 of 67Great room, great location, great price
My friends and I stayed at this hotel for 5 days during a vacation in Tokyo. We got a great price, and our "Run of the House" room with 2 beds and a couch never felt cramped even when 4 or 5 of us were sitting around talking about what we were going to do that day. It was also nice that the room was equipped with a small refrigerator. The location was great, a short walk takes you to the streets of Akasaka where you can find convenience stores, restaurants (fast food and sit-down places), liquor stores, coffee shops, and even some bars. One of the best things about the location was the accessibility of the subway, which was also a very short walk away, as the subway was our primary means of transportation throughout the day. The staff was extremely polite and helpful, and always greeted us with a smile. The hotel also had umbrellas that we were able to borrow and use which came in handy. All in all everything was satisfactory. The only negatives are as follows: 1)For this particular room we were only given one key, even though there were two of us occupying the 2 bed room, which was kind of inconvenient at times. 2)It seemed that the air conditioner for our room and our entire floor (31st) was broken. We didn't complain to the staff about it though, so I'm not sure what the problem was. 3)No free internet, and no wireless internet. Only a wired connection was available, and it seemed to work for only the one computer that we set it up on, not any computer that we connected. 4)TV only had around 8-10 channels, which were entertaining, but this seemed weird when the rest of the hotel was so nice. I wasn't there to stay cooped up inside watching TV anyway though, so it wasn't a big deal. Other than these negatives, our time at the hotel was very enjoyable. There was also a bus available to ride to the Narita airport for our trip home for a price, but it was worth it for the views of the city that you don't get while riding the subway. We had some time to kill bef

Trip Type: Business Review 4 of 67Best Hotel Deal in Tokyo
In 20 years of traveling to Tokyo, I have never experienced such a great deal. This is a first-rate hotel worthy of a 5-star rating and they were offering an internet rate that was more than 50% off the usual price. Rooms are large, airy, sunny, clean, comfortable. Everything you would dream of. Only one word of caution! Do not eat in the Hotel Restaurants! Food is horribly expensive, and not particularly good. Five minutes away, in Akasaka, you have a multitude of excellent restaurants.

Trip Type: Family Review 6 of 67Great hotel for a party of 5
This hotel was one of the few hotels in the Tokyo area that offered a suite for 5 people to stay in. This was a vital criteria for me since I was traveling with my in a family of 5. The Japanese Style suite we stayed was huge by Japanese standards and felt more like an apartment than a hotel room. The room had obvious signs of wear-and-tear, but that was expected and didn't distract us from the excellent view (due North) from the 29th floor. The costs were moderate when considering the size of the room and the rate on a per-person basis. Traveling to the hotel from Narita airport was quick and easy via the Airport Limousine buses it covers this hotel (same for the return trip). The hotel's location is excellent since it's practically next to the Akasaka-mitsuke subway station (which is connected to the Nagatacho subway station). This means the hotel is a short walk to 5 of Tokyo Metro's subway lines, which I found to be very convenient! The maids were always friendly and eager to be of help even if they didn't understand English. Hand gestures and a pocket phrasebook did the trick in those cases where the language barrier was up. Newspapers were delivered very early on a daily basis, which was great since I was always up before 6 am. The room even came with a bed making service where they prepare the futons for you (although it can be easily done yourself in under 5 minutes). Even though I usually turn down the service (they regularly call to ask if you'd like it done), on days when they couldn't reach me they would already have the futons prepared by the time I returned (after 6 pm). The cleaning staff are keen on details and responded to the note I left to request a trash bag by doing just that. The staff is also quick to respond to any external problems such as earthquakes. Two earthquakes struck while I was there and the staff promptly responded after the tremors were over (via the loudspeakers in the room) to explain our situation and to ensure all guests th

Trip Type: Overnight Stay Review 9 of 67A really outstanding, well designed space.
I was passing through Tokyo for only one night. I'd been staying 'budget' hotels (though not by any means cheap) in Korea and Japan for about a month and I decided to splurge for something a little nicer on the last night of the trip. It was well, well worth it, and considering the relatively small difference in price between this place and others I'd stayed, it was a bargain. First, the view. The hotel is designed so that every room has a 'corner' view of the city skyline, and because it is set away from other buildings, you truly can get an amazing view- from the 29th floor, we couldn't step away from the windows. Secondly, the standard rooms are large-- really about the size of a studio apartment by Japan standards. Very spacious, and well appointed. The decor was simple all white modern. It was obvious that the decor had been chosen probably in the 80's during Japan's boom, and had not changed, but the quality and upkeep of the space made it seem rather timeless and 'classic' rather then 'dated'. There is a separated entry foyer and a very spacious bathroom and full size tub- and had every amenity, including an 'emergency' phone in case you have a health problem. Toothbrushes, razors, etc, plus a well stocked minibar were all available in the room. The room had fantastic lighting-- all on dimmers, which made the place feel much more comfortable than the standard issue horrific fluorescent bulbs that are in seemingly every other hotel in Asia I've been to. We had the opportunity to order room service at about midnight. Our veggie pizza, while small and very expensive, was very tasty and arrived in just a few minutes, and the staff was very friendly. The only con that I could think of was the internet. Every other hotel that I'd been to in Asia had complimentary internet, thus I didn't even look when I was booking this one. I wanted to double check my flight time the next day, but to my dismay, there was a surcharge for internet, to the tune about 17.50 USD, whi

Trip Type: Business Review 10 of 67Western-style hotel for a decent value
The staff is extremely courteous, the rooms are clean and take advantage of the view on the upper floors, and it's convenient for taxis and access to the Orange Ginza line. Because there are multiple Prince Akasaka hotels in the city, I suggest getting the front desk to write the name of the property and address in Japanese for use by cab drivers.

Trip Type: Family Review 12 of 67Excellent hotel
We stayed in a family suite with 2 bedrooms and it was an excellent choice for my family (with 3 kids). This hotel was the only one I could find with this type of suite at a reasonable price in Tokyo. The suite was very spacious and had a great view (we were on the 19th floor). The room was clean and well-equipped. Every staff we met was helpful, courteous, friendly, and spoke adequate English. The hotel location was also a big plus. Subway stations are right outside the hotel and you have access to 5 lines on the Metro. There are also plenty of restaurants, retails, banks, and even a coin laundry near by. Wireless internet connection is available in the lobby. It is not free, but is cheaper than the wired connection in the room. Overall, we had a great experience at this hotel and would stay here again.

Trip Type: Business Review 13 of 67Great room and location for the money
This was the third time in 6 trips to Tokyo that we have stayed at the Grand Prince Akasaka, and it is firmly established as our favorite hotel in Tokyo for both its quality and the price. You can't beat the location--what a great neighborhood for early morning (or late night) walks!--and the room size is luxurious by Japanese standards. The hotel staff are very friendly and helpful (be prepared to give up your bags to a tiny Japanese woman who wll not let you carry your own into the hotel). We could always find someone at the front desk or ask for someone on the phone who spoke reasonable English. The restaurants are pricey, though, if you are on a budget, but not different from most other higher class Japanese hotels. No need to eat there, though, because of the presence of a multitude of cheaper restaurants (and many convenience stores for sandwiches etc) a bare stone's throw away on Sotobori dori.
