Pretentious without substance

This hotel was trying to be very chic and trendy but, with the exception of the bellboys, was terrible in the customer service department. The security keycard is needed at all times--in order to make the elevator go, for instance. If you want to go to the bar on the roof (way over-rated with terrible service), you need to go down to the concierge and have him put a special key in the elevator to get you there. All the extra security seems unnecessary--one big security guard at the main entrance should have done it. The amazing fitness center that they advertise is very clean, but pedestrian. This is a "poser" hotel and I would not stay there again.

Disappointed

I was somewhat disappointed by the hotel and spa service. We were given the wrong room when we arrived (a much smaller room without a big enough window to see the great view). When we complained, we were told that nothing else was available. However, when we called back to report the mix up in rooms, we were moved to our correct room. Upon reading a review prior to our stay, I had requested not to be on the floor directly below the nightclub because of the noise. Needless to say, our room was still on the highest floor. Our spa appointments were mixed up but they did credit us a complimentary service for the mix up. The woman who did my facial kept me waiting and did not seem very knowledgeable or capable of answering questions about skincare. The final mix up was being charged double for valet service one night. It was corrected but it seemed like there were far too many mix ups and mistakes for a "4-star" hotel.

not sure i'd stay here again

One of the reasons I booked this hotel over another was my previous experience with their exceptional, complimentary buffet breakfast. Upon check-in we learned they discontinued it & replaced it with a traditional breakfast in their dining room (for which they gave us a partial credit). The set up for breakfast was beyond disorganized and the staff was incredibly rude. The service was so bad that at one point while asking our server for something, she turned around and began walking away while I was still speaking (to her back). The hotel is beginning to decline and is in need of a refresh. If you're not alone in the room, there is NO sound privacy between the bathroom and the bedroom - our bathroom door did not even close completely. Location is great. The Dana has hopped on the trendy hotel bandwagon but haven't executed it with much quality.

A good hotel if you can find a good deal.

I stayed here over the past weekend and would like to make note of a few items. -Check-in is a mess. There are 2 people available to check you in and the line is long. -Room service menu is terrible. I understand the healthy aspect of this hotel but late night food is supposed to well late night food (think pizza, sandwiches, etc) . I dont think salted edamame is a great option or salads. -The front desk service is rude rude rude. They sound annoyed that you would even pick up the phone and call them for anything.

The room was nice and it had a very comfortable bed. After we checked in we went up stairs and our room was still dirty. So we told the front desk, they said it would be cleaned immediately. They held our bags and we went out to lunch. We came back an hour and a half later and our room was still not clean. They gave us a $25 gift card for the Aja steak house in the hotel. We tried to use the certificate twice and were given excuses for why we couldn't use them at that particular time. Totally ridiculous! So we ended up never using the gift certificate. I would not stay here again.

Trendy New Hotel Needs to Work Out Some Kinks

As a business management consultant, I believe in taking note of lessons learned or constructive criticism to make improvements. As well, I have traveled all over the world and stayed in some of the very best and very worst accomodations. In which case, I fancy myself as someone who knows what she's talking about from both a business and a traveler's standpoint. As you read this review, please note that my fiance and I made the following points to one of the Dana Hotel's seasoned managers who AGREED with each and every point we made. 1. We arrived at the hotel at 9:00 PM and the music in the lobby was blaring loud. We found ourselves shouting with the desk clerk during our check-in procecss. Since there is a bar just below the lobby/registration area I understand the importance of loud music to create a certain atmosphere. However, in this day and age when volume of music can be controlled from room to room, we saw no need for such loud music in the lobby. The music was uncomfortably loud each night of our stay when we would return from our evening out with friends. Therefore, our suggestion is to keep the music "exciting" in the bar, but quieter by the lobby and the elevators so guests feel more relaxed. 2. There is a Vegas-styled rooftop bar at the Dana Hotel that caters to a very trendy group of people. However, this meant that very drunk people were entering and exiting the hotel all night long. As well, these individuals were using the same elevators as the guests. In which case, we found ourselves surrounded by foolish, drunk, snobby people, making fun of us or other hotel guests as we would go to and from our room. Here we were paying hundreds of dollars to stay at the hotel, made to feel uncomfortable by people who weren't even paying a cover charge for the bar. Moreover, late at night/very early morning, as the elevator would stop at various floors, some of these "trendy" people would yell outside of the elevator, slam doors, or make a ruckus in general.

Service and attitude = negative

The check-in process was quite unsatisfactory...slow, room wasn't ready at 3, the cell phone # wasn't called to tell us our room was ready b/c they got "busy" as a result we were late for a reservation / appointment. When asked about vending machines the response was, "there is a 7-11 across the street" - with snotty attitude waited 45 minutes for breakfast, was asked 3 times by 3 different wait staff, what I wanted for breakfast...it never came!

Beautiful Hotel...Just Need to Change the Sheets

A very trendy hotel in a great location. Had to wait for a while since there was only one person working at the check-in desk, but not a big deal. My biggest issue was that as I was about to climb into bed, I noticed SEVERAL strands of hair that certainly did not belong to me. For a hotel this swanky, it's unbelievable that they don't change the bed sheets.

the shower has a clear wall facing the bed area. On the bedroom side is a curtain that can be slid back and forth. I don't think this is condusive to any one with children for the obviouse reason that mom might be showering and the kids could slide back the curtain and observe. The hotel called to let us know when the room was ready - when I called back and chose 1 for reservations, the operator told me to hang up - call back and press 0 ( not customer focused in my mind ) Check in desk on second floor - and the people at the desk were not very helpful with securing our room. Instead of being proactive and welcoming us, we had to ask them if this is where we check in

1. Toilet paper holder was way out of arms reach 2. Hotel entrance (first floor) was too crowded. There were always people standing and blocking the entrance/elevator areas 3. Parking attendants were not efficient 4. Door that closes closet and the bathroom was somewhat irritating 5. Warm welcomeness was lacking by the Lobby attendants 6. Not enough space for the luggages to fit in the room

Don't stay here!

Everyday we were there we had to complain about the noise. The noise came from the house keeping staff. Doors slamming, loud talking, music playing. It was very disappointing to pay that much for a hotel that was supposed to be relaxing and have to be awakened by staff absolutely everyday of our stay. We asked for a wake up call one afternoon and it came 15min late. When I told the desk about it they told me I was wrong - we missed our appt. because of this mistake. Otherwise the staff was very friendly, the bed was great, and the food was outstanding.
