Very small rooms and two very small elevators. Hotel is very old and it shows.

Trip Type: Special Event Review 3 of 29Great Location-but city noise
This hotel is right on Powell half a block from Union Square, but the cable car runs right by the hotel--til midnight! It was noisy with the windows closed and opening them would have been nice on a warm night--but not with the street noise!! The staff was great and the room was updated and very clean--the public areas need some updating, too.

Trip Type: Special Event Review 5 of 29Tiny Room
The smallest room i've ever seen. Free parking was blocks away. Reception desk staff didn't seem know what they were doing. Very unfriendly staff. Not a good stay.

Trip Type: Not Provided Review 8 of 29Room for Improvement
We had purchased a special parking package hotel rate which meant that parking was included. However, when I confirmed the parking garage at check-in, the wrong parking garage was confirmed and I ended up having to pay for parking anyhow. Upon check-out when I explained to the front desk staff that the person checking me in did not listen to what I was saying and confirmed the wrong garage, they said there was not anything they could do. They reluctantly printed out a sheet indicating that I did not park at the garage so that I could try to get a refund on my own, which adds up to horrible customer service, but this matches the cold and uninviting lobby.

Trip Type: Business Review 9 of 29All night party outside my room
I liked the boutique feel of the hotel and the service personel were outstanding. Unfortunately my room was on the second floor facing Powell St. and the noise level was high and all night long. Not much sleep over two days. Ask for a higher floor.

Trip Type: Family Review 13 of 29just ok but good
The hotel is not bad just older could use some upgrading esp. in the bath rooms. Don’t flush the toilet in the middle of the night it’s quite loud! We stayed on the third floor it's a loud area there was some street noise. Location is good. The concierge was ok a bit hard to understand, we ended up spending $21 for a "metro pass" thinking we'd be taking a trolley car to the piers, she directed us to Market street where we took the city's public transportation, which would have only cost us $6 round trip. But she did a good job at getting us into Alcatraz on short notice. The place for the price is a good value; just don’t expect to be wowed because it is older. The staff was good, even getting us a mini-fridge when we arrived, checking in /out went quickly. Go with the parking package a good value only $15 per day the garage is around the block with in/out privileges. Don’t get caught up in the pillow talk it wasn’t quite what we thought the 12 pillows to chose from include pillows for your eyes, legs etc, it doesn’t make the hotel more luxurious but is a nice touch. Wouldn’t go out of our way to recommend this place, but also wouldn’t drive people away from it.

Trip Type: With Friends Review 14 of 29Thin Walls
The hotel was very nice, but the walls were extremely thin, and we were unfortunately put next to a group of teenagers who were up the entire night, being loud.
