Trip Type: Business Review 1 of 15broken elevator
There was only one working elevator, which made for very long wait times.

The valet service was horrible. Took over half an hour to get my car each time. Bath tub drain plugs up. Hair dryer didn't work initially.

Trip Type: Rest and Recreation Review 3 of 15Great Hotel & Location
Very friendly staff, valet parking - right in the middle of everything. Interesting room and layout, very comfortable. Will be going back again - good value for Chicago, parking too.

this hotel was wonderful, except for two things... NO business center. the noise was terrible on the North side of the hotel. Loading docks and garbage trucks ALL NIGHT LONG>

Trip Type: Special Event Review 5 of 15Awesome hotel but the parking rates ruined the experience
The hotel is clean, swanky, with a great indoor/outdoor rooftop lounge, right off Michigan Ave which means world class shopping, nightlife abound, access to the Lake front, Navy Pier and a short walk/ride to Millenium Park. BUT THEY CHARGE AN UNPOSTED $44 A DAY FOR PARKING. I'm originally from Chicago and that's defintely the highest rate I've ever heard or been subjected to. Based on principal alone I will not be returning to the Affinia and will not recommend it. Which until I experienced that I was all about it.... I'm planning on leaving an earful of a message for the Property Manager.

Trip Type: Not Provided Review 6 of 15" ALL OF THE NOISE"
I would not recommend this hotel to anyone that wants to get a good night sleep. I went there for an anniversary, so it wasn't like I was sleeping much, but when we tried to go to bed. I woke up every hour because of the sirens we heard all night. Apparently, norwestern memorial hospital is around the corner, so the sounds from the sirens was heard throughout the night. My girlfriend didn't sleep at all, but I forced myself to get a few hours. Overall the room was great and really stylish. The employees were helpful and kind. The place was still under renovation, so there wasn't a bar, but overall I would rate it a 3.

Trip Type: Romance Review 7 of 15Beautiful room, not so beautiful amenities
The hotel was undergoing construction so there was no food service. No room service. And no mini-bar. Also, housekeeping did not clean our room one of the days. Great location and the room was lovely--but, wouldn't stay there again.

Trip Type: Not Provided Review 8 of 15Maybe it'll be better when it's completed
Do not go to the Affinia until the renovations are done. The elevator was out-of-order for a couple of hours and there was no notification of any kind on the doors. I stood and waited for a while before calling the front desk and them telling me "yes it is out of order". I had to ask what the estimated repair time was and I was told "they are working on it". No "I'm sorry for the inconvenience", "is there anything we can assist you with until they are working", "would you like a call when they are again operational?" Also, the front door is an automatic revolving door, except it kept stopping while you were going through. It was very hard to push when there was no motor assist since they are big doors. There were staff in the lobby and valets outside standing there and none of them made an effort to help when it would stop. I understand that in a new hotel there are going to be issues but apparently the Customer Service training was not focused on how to treat the customer when issues arose. If that's the case and they can only do the bare minimum of their job I would question how well the rest of the staff handles unexpected situations. When I contacted the company about it they apologized and offered me a free night but did not satisfy my concern of their lack of CS and if it was going to be improved.

Trip Type: Business Review 9 of 15Extensive ongoing renovations
Hotel is undergoing extensive renovation - including having workers mill stone in lobby - think dust and water mist. More importantly I left my room at 8 am to go to a meeting. I returned at 10 am to change prior to checking out - the room had been stripped, including all towels and toiletories from the bathroom - so I couldn't even wash my hands. however, the maid service was less diligent about initially stocking the rooms as the toilet roll was almost empty and I had to call for more in the early morning. Honestly given the renovations with no room service/cafe/bar on site and the appaling house-keeping service I would avoid this place at least until everything is finished and the house keepers are trained in customer service.

Trip Type: Romance Review 10 of 15Cheap, unfinished product!
Although the service at the Affinia was excellent, the hotel is not even close to being remodeled. Not only is it incomplete, but the furnishings and finish work is terrible. I don't know who they hired as a contractor, but they need another company to come in and redo the job. Many other hotels in the area with similar pricing are better values.

Trip Type: Romance Review 12 of 15Pardon Their Dust
The Affinia was under construction - wish we had known. We got a great price, now we know why. We did get a renovated room, but not all the "decor" had arrived so it was a combination of styles. The room was large. Within the first hours after check-in, the water was turned off and stayed off for a couple of hours. Made it difficult to flush the toilet!!! Then we discovered the cable TV was out - that lasted several hours. The hotel staff were courteous, but they could have just admitted the cable was out rather than act surprised. I found it interesting that there was no restroom in the lobby. May be a nice place to stay once the renovatons are complete.
