Trip Type: Overnight Stay Review 1 of 14Uncomfortable bed and pillows
It should be five star but they still use the old sytle television .the beds are not comfortable and their pillows are terrible . Looks like big comfy pillows but thy felt like paper. Unfriendly reception talked to me like I don't know what he is talking about , gave me no info about nothing , he just checked me in and did not even say my room number . For the amount of dollars we paid it is not worth it . Might as well stay at comfort inn . I understand their motive is traditional but not traditional to the extreme that u feel like in in the boondocks with their lamps and tv and couch and everything . All in all they can do better.

Trip Type: With Friends Review 2 of 14Old, dated... Great location and staff
Location and staff were great... Hotel room decor and amenities were extremely dated. My room looked like the year 1992 threw up inside.

Trip Type: Business Review 3 of 14Disaster
I arrived at the hotel after being delayed at the airport for 9 hours. Although the room was paid for in full they resold my room before I arrived. They put me in a conference room with a roll a way. If I wasn't so tired and it wasn't so late I would have demanded my money back and found another hotel. The comped me with a free pot of coffee and a danish in the morning. What a jokle for a 5 star hotel to treat a customer this way. I'll never stay there again.

Trip Type: Romance Review 5 of 14ok, but not worth the money, dissappointed
It's beautiful with the feel of a old grand hotel. But no extras that make you want to stay. Felt like I was at my grandmothers house. No in room coffee, no microwave, bed was stiff, only 2 pillows and they were not very good. No view. Parking was $37.00 a night. I would recommend parking up the street at an overnight garage for half the price. We were very dissappointed, we thought this would be the best hotel out of all we stayed in during our vacation but it was not. The other 3 hotels we stayed in were less expensive, more comfortable and had all the extras. The Fairmont albeit the interior is beautiful was only that..beautiful.

Trip Type: Romance Review 6 of 14Nice hotel but not for the young
The hotel service was outstanding and top-notch. Everyone was very helpful, friendly, and kind. But for those under 30, this is not a hip and trendy hotel. The decor in the lobby and in the rooms are what you might find in your rich grandmother's house. But if that doesn't bother you, it is a mighty fine hotel.

Trip Type: Business Review 7 of 14Beautiful room, out-dated room
Hotel is beautiful, but the room was out dated. Old TV, no coffee service and so-so mattress in the room. I would rather stay in a 3.5 or 4 star that has modern amenities. That being said, the building was beautiful, excellent door staff, and elegant restaurant that you would expect from an old grand hotel like this.

Trip Type: Family Review 8 of 14Only good part is the pool
Room service was incredibly overpriced and food was extremly subpar - had to return salad b/c of how wilted and old produce was....room AC didn't work (equipment looked like it was from the 1980's), said they were going to send up a fan, they didn't, switched our rooms, new room didn't have AC either, finally got an updated room w/ AC - but was offered nothing for the inconvenience. They also advertise as a suite, but there is nothing but a curtain on a door that seperates the rooms, so no real barrier for light or noise, so if you have a kid and wanted the suite set up, this is not the hotel. Complained about this, and let them know that was a material reason I chose the hotel, b/c of the suites, and they said I can purchase an additional connecting room for extra charge or get the 1bdr suite for 1000 a night as a solution. Great, thanks. The pool/spa was very nice, that was def the best part. Did hear rumor that they are going to dump a bunch of money and redo all the rooms, they need to. Stay was a disappointment.

Trip Type: Business Review 10 of 14Needs Improvement
This hotel had quite a bit to offer, with a great location, great service and 2 very nice restaurants however, the rooms themselves were not that great. I understand that it is a historic building but the rooms had popcorn ceilings, old linoleum window seals, old tile in the bathroom, and an overall cheaply decorated look. For a 5 star hotel they spent all the money on a fancy lobby and zero dollars on room improvements. For the price this hotel is definetly NOT worth it.

Trip Type: Special Event Review 11 of 14This is not five star level of service
When the hotel staff changed linens in my room they left them in the corner of my room in a bag. Did not remove them from my room.

Trip Type: Romance Review 12 of 14Need updates badly
I thought the Fairmont would have wonderful rooms, but I was sorely disappointed with the TVs and the lack of updates. While there was free internet, they did not have flatscreen TVs and the remotes barely worked. The pool is wonderful, but having the exercise equipment in the exact same room with the pool was a bad idea, since you felt like you were inhaling chlorine at a rapid pace, especially if you were exercising with any vigor.

Trip Type: Rest and Recreation Review 13 of 14needs improvement
The service at the bar, the Georgian, and at Schuckers was lousy. We were very disappointed. The hotel was nice and the hotel front desk clerks were helpful. The overall experience was very disappointing and I would never recommend this hotel.

Trip Type: Romance Review 14 of 14Poor value
The architecture was grand. We felt, however, that we were nickel and dimed to death. The lunch at Shuckers was not inexpensive. The food was tasteless. The dinner at the Georgian was artfully presented, the waitservice attentive, but again, the food was not wonderful. The price was exorbitant for dishes that were not exceptional. There was no way to get coffee, other than room service. We use room service often on our trips. In this instance, we chose not to even call for coffee as we felt that we were victims of highway robbery. Staff was professional and friendly, but we will not recommend this hotel to anyone. Others in Seattle are better.
