Trip Type: With Friends Review 1 of 22Big Room, No breakfast!
I recently stayed at the Topaz hotel for a weekend in DC with friends. The hotel was satisfactory. The room was large but the bathroom was quite small and there was no coffee pot. We thought we got at least a continental breakfast with our room but found out we did not get breakfast because we booked online with hotels.com. Would it really be too much to ask for a muffin regardless of how the room was booked? I was excited that the hotel offered valet parking but was disappointed when I looked out my window and saw my car wedged into a tiny little lot with about 8 spaces in the rear of the hotel. Also, I wanted a hotel with a restaurant and bar on site and while Topaz offered this, I saw no restaurant and the small bar seemed to be closed all the time. Overall I was satisfied with the Topaz, I slept well and it served it's purpose but I might try another hotel next time just to see what else is out there.

Trip Type: With Friends Review 2 of 22Nice Place, Good Location
I stayed here in August of 2009. The location is very convenient to the White House and all of the other monuments, probably about 20-30 minute walk. The staff was always very kind and helpful. I did not use the valet parking provided by the hotel because it was $35. The parking meters in front of the hotel were free after 6:30pm and on the weekends. Also, there are a couple of other parking garages within a block or two that are much cheaper. There are plenty of places to eat and shop within a couple of blocks so it was a good location.

Trip Type: With Friends Review 5 of 22stylish, cozy, and good customer service all in the heart of the city
an excellent boutique hotel! the decor of the hotel is modern and whimsical but also has a cozy, home-like feel. our room had a very convenient vanity area, something I've never seen at other hotels. the hotel staff were always welcoming and helpful, made it feel even more like home. stepping off the elevator and into the hip lounge does take you into more of a nightlife atmosphere. surrounding the hotel is anything you want and need: coffee, food, shopping, restaurants of many kind, and even necessities like pharmacies, banks, etc. I would definitely stay at this hotel again and recommend any of the Kimpton hotels!

Trip Type: With Friends Review 8 of 22My new hotel of choice
LOVED the hotel. The staff were excellent. Room had an electric tea kettle, (tea drinkers hate the taste of coffee in our tea). The robes were fun & funky. A grooming table outside the bathroom kept the moist shower air from ruining my hair & I sat comfortably to "put on my face." The reading nook was a cozy place to chill.

Trip Type: With Friends Review 9 of 22I would come back!
Overall the Hotel was a very nice hotel. The only thing that I saw that needed improvement was the water damage spot on the ceiling and there was a couple of areas in the beautiful rug that may have had damage. But besides that I would come back for another stay and recommend it to others. The staff was outstanding!!! Everyone was so nice and helpful and would assist you with everything. The hotel staff really made you feel very, very welcomed. It was my first time staying at a Kimpton Hotel and I was overall impressed. I loved the eclectic feel and look of the room. I will check out other Kimpton Hotels in the future.

Trip Type: With Friends Review 10 of 22Quirky and friendly
We stayed in another Kimpton hotel before (Helix Hotel) and loved it, so it was easy to choose another one from the chain. The Topaz is a little less outrageous in its decor, but still nicely silly while not giving up on comfort. The reception was very friendly, fun and helpful. Couldn't have wished for a better stay.

The staff was quite friendly. If you are planning to walk to the monuments this hotel would not be the best choice.

The hotel was great - the room was cute and jazzy, the service was excellent. However, we had a problem with a neighbor calling us at 9:30 p.m. on a Saturday telling us to "be quiet". There were 6 of us getting ready to go out to celebrity my friend's birthday. Other than that, the room was great.
