Trip Type: Family Review 1 of 30Good area all in all
It was nice..only flaw we had was we got a room that was for the handicaped and had no tub..just a shower, wife wasnt happy with that and they could'nt change our room at the time...and it took a long time for hot water..but its not to far from most of the attractions..

Trip Type: Family Review 2 of 30comfortable hotel
On the whole, the hotel was comfortable. Extras that could/should have been included: extra chair (only 1 comfortable chair in room for 2 people), free refrigerator, continental breakfast.

Trip Type: Family Review 3 of 30Excellent room for the money and wonderful service
Incredibly helpful staff and the place is in a great neighborhood. We had a great time and although the rooms don't blow you away or anything, it totally fit the bill for us.

Trip Type: Family Review 5 of 30Great find, great location
This was truly a great find. The hotel is located near DuPont Circle (and the Metro stop), about 5-6 blocks north of the White House and the Mall. It is also about a 20-25 minute walk to Georgetown from the location. The staff were great, and the room was quite large, much larger than I expected. I liked it so much that I changed my New York hotel reservation through Hotels.com to another Kimpton hotel. If you like boutique hotels (read small lobby, bar/lounge that serves breakfast and dinner) then you will like this hotel.

Trip Type: Family Review 6 of 30Friendly service, nice location
The staff was very friendly and the service outstanding. The location was relatively close to the metro stops and within a walking distance to all the sights (White House, etc.). The room was quite spacious. The only negatives were it was located on a narrow street which is less traveled at night (and one night a "local resident" approached me in a threatening way, which unnerved me) and cars have to be checked in and out of the garage (done by the staff). The rooms and the hotel structure are probably a bit old but this was noticeable only upon a careful scrutiny. Overall, a pretty good hotel for the price.

Trip Type: Family Review 9 of 30Great hotel for the money!
The location was a little away from downtown DC but Dupont Circle had a lot of nice restaurants. The Metro was very close by so that was convenient. Hotel was very nice and staff was great. I would definitely go back.

Trip Type: Family Review 10 of 30great hotel - great location -
I was traveling with my teenage girls and I had never been to DC before & wasn't sure what area to stay at. I was very pleased with my choice-it was a 15 min. walk to the White House & a short walk to metro station & also used the Shuttle service alot to Georgetown which I picked up at Dupont Circle for $1.00 each way-(arrives every 10 min.)This hotel is a great location for anything from Shopping to restaurants & I felt safe walking at night with my teenage girls. I would definately stay in this area and at this hotel the next time I visit Washington DC.

Trip Type: Family Review 11 of 30Great hotel with friendly staff in a convenient location
We just stayed at this hotel in Dupont Circle last week. It was clean and had very friendly staff. We didn't utilize the bar/restaurant area while we were there. The surrounding neighborhood is great - lots of options for food and shopping. The only complaint is that our TV didn't always work, but we were not really there to watch TV anyways! The front desk staff was helpful when we called to inquire about it. They were also very gracious in telling us about the neighborhood and calling a taxi for us back to the airport. I would recommend it! Unique decorations, too, made the stay a little more fun.

Trip Type: Family Review 12 of 30I'd stay here again and recommend it to friends/family
From the moment we arrived the personal service and kind reception were notable for a big city hotel. The room was spacious and the bed/bedding/pillows perfect for a good night's rest. I was very impressed that such a nice hotel, so well located, would be priced affordably. We stayed 3 nights, Feb. 20-23. I appreciated that the room rate did not go up on our last night, a Sunday. Another hotel's rate doubled on Sunday. The cab fare from International was $21 and breakfast at Kramerbooks, a short walk away, was delicious. We never ate at our hotel so I can't comment on their food options. It felt like we were in a neighborhood rather than in a box hotel. I liked that feel as well.

Trip Type: Family Review 13 of 30Amazing Service in a cool hotel
The staff, to a person, at the Topaz Hotel was amazing. I really think they were the most helpful, pleasant and warm group I've ever seen in any hotel anywhere. And I told them as much when I checked out. We had a family get together based there, for three days and nights, and they staff was knowledgeable, friendly and super helpful. The decor of the place is very cool; it's funky and a bit wild, but not too wacky or anything. The location, near the Dupont Circle Metro stop and about a mile from the Mall and monuments and museums, was great too. I can't recommend this place more strongly. (Dec., 2008)

Trip Type: Family Review 14 of 30pricey but clean
The Topaz is a very nice hotel but the prices at the bar and minibar were outrageous. One very nice thing was that they did not charge parking if you have a hybrid vehicle. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. Overall a nice place to stay of you're not concerned with pinching pennies.
