This is where I always stay in Kansas City - great service and great hotel at a reasonable price. The staff is always friendly and helpful.

Read the fine print!

I booked this hotel through hotels.com. When I checked in I was told that my rate did not include breakfast, any spa services, nor the use of the hotel shuttle. I was only there one night so had no real intention of using the spa, but the need to arrange for transportation to the meeting I had to attend in the morning was a major inconvenience. I checked my booking info, and indeed the confirmation included the words, "Queen Business, room only." It would have been helpfu, though, had "room only" been explained more clearly.

My only complaint is that the desk did not put through a wake up call the day I left. Luckily I tend to wake up at 5:30 most mornings so I didn't miss my plane.

Great Area, Great Service, Great Hotel!

The Q Hotel is in a fantastic area of Kansas City known as Westport. Though I didn't get to take advantage of the area because I was staying on business I intend on coming back! The Q Hotel was very clean and one of the things that impressed me the most was how modern the decor was. I was a bit worried because I forgot my own pillow, but now worries here! They provide four comfortable pillows and comfortable beds. It was a very well-kept hotel. I certainly would recommend it to anyone!

More bang for your buck

The Q Hotel easily exceeded my expectations. I expected a continental breakfast, but they had a made-to-order omelet bar, waffles, fresh fruit, etc. I expected a regular bar, but both my wife and I were given coupons at check-in for two complimentary drinks a piece! I expected a regular small hotel gym facility, but was given a free pass to the Gold's Gym right across the street. The amenities here are bizarre. They even took my wife and I out to dinner and picked us up in the hotel shuttle; and surprise surprise, that was free too. Being able to watch Sports Center and other channels on the Hi-Def flat screen TV in the room was pretty sweet too. I would recommend this hotel to anyone.

My room was wonderful. Very clean. Friendly, knowledgeable staff. I would highly recommend this hotel.

'Rooms Only' Discount - Good Deal

booked this hotel on a business trip under 'rooms only' discount. Price was good but did not get the frills the hotel generally offers with full price such as happy hour drinks or spa service or something like that. None of this interested me so no problem. The location was great. Great neighborhood and easy access downtown. Some of the decorations were somewhat funny and tacky but whatever, I slept well.

Cute Boutique Hotel

This is one of those hotels modeled to those you would likely find in South Beach, it's definitely not new, but very well kept. The rooms are tiny and cute. They do have a small bar and the location is close to all the action (if you like bar hopping). The staff is very friendly (like you would expect a boutique hotel to have) and the decor is very 60's inspired. The only thing that made this hotel stand out was the fact they provided high end (Aveda) toiletries, however I loathe the fact they are a "green hotel", which in this case meant crappy/cheap towels that feel like sand paper on your skin, bed sheets that are stiff as a board and toilet paper that makes you consider using newspaper instead. Other than that, it was as you would expect for the money. As a business traveler I'd give this hotel 3 stars, as a leisure/vacation traveler I'd say 3 1/2 stars.

Awesome hotel....

Location Green-value Excellent staff Good amenities If you're looking to get away from the Mega-hotel chain and still have all comforts at high standards, this hotel will do well for anyone. The neighborhood is at the edge of the restaurants, the hotel isn't too big or impersonal, and yet the hotel isn't too small. Plus I like the green emphasis. A nice refreshing stay!
