Century Plaza Hotel & Spa

First Impressions are not what you get....

I had been in the lobby of this hotel before our stay. It is modern, bright, and looks like a place I would stay. WOW, the rooms are nothing like what the lobby shows. The rooms have not been updated. Curtains with holes, toilet seats that move around, doors that don't close are just some of the "atmosphere" items that we had. However, at the top of the list was the fact that there is no A/C in the rooms to speak of. In addition, the "central heat" had been turned on in the building. They did not manage to turn it off when the warm weather returned. We ended up suffering with temps around 80 the first night. I should have been worried when I saw a stand fan in the bedroom. Feels morelike a stay with family vs hotel. Service is not up to standard as well. We were told the reason we did not get the bed choice we wanted was because of last min. reservation. Nicer rooms available but not offered as an option?? Will not be back !

Century Plaza...a serviceable hotel

Great location, adaquate accomodations, the front desk and concierge leave something to be desired. They don't know their city and its features. Misleading information about various venues...decided to trust our own instincts and ask locals about attractions and entertainment.

solid no-frills hotel

The location is perfect, the views are spectacular, and the rooms are huge. We really enjoyed having a kitchenette and living room -- it really made it feel like we were coming "home" at night. The linens are old and kind of gross, and the hotel is definitely no-frills, but if you're looking for a cheap & easy place to stay, do not hesitate to choose this place.

Great Hotel

Everything about the hotel was great! The room and the view was absolutely amazing for the price. But I thought I should post that the pool is still being renovated, which here on this website it said it would be done April 1st.

More than we could have expected...

We stayed at the Century Plaza for our vacation/honeymoon (he proposed and we got marriage the same week) and we could not have dreamed of a better experience! The location was great, in the middle of downtown Vancouver and walking distance from shopping and restaurants. The staff was incredible! As soon as they heard it was our honeymoon, they upgraded us to the top floor and left chocolate covered strawberries and a card cogratulating us. The room was clean, comfortable and had an incredible view of the downtown area and mountains. The spa downstairs was fantastic as well. Anytime we ever decide to go back to Vancouver, this is where we'll be staying!

Great room for the money.

The beds are a bit too firm but that's the only complaint I have. The hotel is clean and the staff are very helpfull. The location is great, within walking distance of restaurants, shopping, groceries, movies, etc.

Good location, good price, and we'd stay there again

My husband and I were very satisfied with the hotel in correlation with the rate we paid for the weekend. The front desk staff was very friendly towards us. We were disappointed that the pool and steamroom were closed. It was due to renovations, so we hope to stay there again at a later date. The draw to the pool is that it is supposed to be chemical free. The only thing we weren't so thrilled about was the bed. We couldn't feel the springs, but the bed was very bouncy, and they should also keep extra pillows in the room. Overall, we would recommend the hotel, stay there again, and were very please with the location!

great value

very nice once you are in your room. The builing is ugly from the outside but that is ok because you can see all the pretty ones from inside.

Rooms dont' match the website or lobby

The lobby makes this hotel look very nice and sleek, but the rooms look like it's from the 80's. hideous room decor and my shower was so terribly designed i had to request another room! the shower head shot water to the top of the tub (and wouldn't adjust at all), which made it run like a river onto the floor, and the shower curtain didn't stretch to both ends of the tub! the room switch was ok, i got a better shower but man it's definitely not a luxe experience. Don't go if you're expecting to stay somewhere with a room better than an interstate hotel.

Outstanding Place....MUST STAY HERE!!!

This was a really good stay. The view from any room is good. Most restaurants and shopping is walking distance. Each room has a fully equipped kitchen. Enjoy a homely atmosphere. I will definately stay here in the near future. The spa is a must go and check out place. Movie theater across the street and 24 hr restaurant nearby. Enjoy your stay because we sure did.

Great Hotel, Crazy Parking

The hotel itself was really good, with clean rooms and a comfy bed. The hotel restaurant below, however, turned out to be really high-end, which was surprising considering the price of the room. Parking was very expensive, and the rates for internet (per hour or per night) were ridiculous. Overall, however, a good hotel.

this room's bathroom had some remodel done but they did not do well on maintaing it. there was leak on the floor coming from tub side and i had to clean the water on the floor each time i used shower. dispite of using granite sink top, the toilet bowel was realy old one had bad flushing ability and seat was loose.

Good Bang for your buck

Overall this room had everything you need for a comfortable weekend. The one bedroom suite is a very large room overall, but the actual bedroom is somewhat small. It wasn't the newest hotel and was probably not as nice as some of the hotels across the street (Sheraton, etc), but for the value it was definitely worth it. Service in the hotel is very good. At one point I went to use the iron and water started dripping everywhere. I called up and within 2 minutes had a new iron.
