Nice hotel, great location

It was exactly what we were looking for. Comfortable room in great location. A short walk to the National Gallery and National Portrait Gallery, and a not very long walk to Houses of Parliament, British Museum, etc. Very close to the Charing Cross tube stop. Only problem was that they had a power problem (which may have been scheduled maintenance) when we wanted to check in, delaying check-in by about 4 hours (they gave us a free breakfast when we complained).

Fantastic Location

You couldn't ask for a better location in London. Half a block from Trafalgar Square. Room was larger than expected, everything worked as it should. Staff very attentive and professional.

Great Location

Trafalgar Grand has a wonderful location so close to sights that often no transportation is needed. Across the street from the Sherlock Holmes Pub and down the street from a Tesco Express also. Computer access in lounge proved useful. We were very happy with our stay.

Great location!

The location of the Grand is very convenient -- close to Tube stations, very close to Trafalgar Square and Picadilly Circus, and also within walking distance of Westminster Abbey, Big Ben, Parliament, etc. Can't imagine a better London location. Restaurants are also quite close, with two American diner style restaurants that were good within a block, and a bunch of restaurants nearby in Picadilly Circus. As other people indicated when we were choosing our London hotel, The Grand is a "no-frills" business hotel. The automatic check-in didn't work for us, and the line to do a "regular" check-in at the desk was slow. Extra toiletries are in a closet down the hall from the room and you help yourself. The purified water station on each floor was great, and the lounge area was huge, with comfy sofas/chairs, and internet available. (We brought our laptop, so just used it in our room -- very convenient!) The bed and pillows were VERY comfortable and the room was large. For some reason we were put in a handicap accessible room with low door handle, a contraption in the shower, etc., but it didn't bother us. Our room was somewhat noisy, since we were on street side, but I wear earplugs anyway, so it wasn't a problem! Hotel itself was quiet -- hardly ever saw any other guest or staff, seemed like we were all by ourselves. No breakfast if that's important to you. I would most definitely stay here again!!

perfect location

As a family of four, we booked the one room suite with microwave, mini frig and kitchen utinsels. This was perfect for warming up leftovers or just having cereal in the morning. The sofa sleeper was quite comfortable. Wonderful location.

The Grand at Trafalgar Square

Overall I was satisfied with the hotel. However, when we went to check in at 3:00 p.m. our room was not ready. That seems a bit late not to have a room ready.

Great location, great value for money

I was in London for New Year's eve and the hotel's location is at the crossroads of celebrations. Its right next to the footbridge by the Embankment, and is close to all the Tourist attractions, clubs, and shopping.

Fantastic Hotel

Arrived late (after midnight), but because I had called ahead, they were ready for us. We were on the second floor...elevators opened onto a nice lounge area with tv, couches, chairs, tables, and a desk with computer and printer. Free bottles of purified, chilled water at a water station on every floor. From the lounge, needed to use the room card to unlock the doors to the halls where the guest rooms were...felt very safe. We had a Studio Queen with Kitchenette...very spacious! Ours was an interior room (the window looked out onto adjacent buildings) that made it perfect for sleeping! Very quiet. The kitchenette had sink, microwave, fridge, plates, bowls, utensils. Granite counter. The closet was actually a wardrobe. Iron, ironing board, hair dryer, and umbrella were all provided. TV had broadband internet access (using the wireless keyboard provided). The room was very spacious. Bed and bath very nice...great quality linens. Still all very new and fresh. No in-room safe. But easy to have valuables locked in safes behind the main desk. Location of the hotel - perfect for this trip...half block to Trafalgar Square (can easily see Nelson's Column from the entrance of the hotel). Both Charing Cross and Embankment tube stations a quick 2-3 minute walk from hotel. I found Embankment to be the easier, less crowded station to use. Also, the Jubilee Bridge is right there, so crossing by foot to the Southbank area very easy. Did not eat at the hotel or order room service. Didn't use the fitness room. One of the lounges on the main floor was restricted to over 18 yr olds (I had my young son with me...so couldn't enter). The Grand at Trafalgar Square is affiliated Club Quarters.

Great Location - Good Value

Recently stayed 2 nights at this hotel at the end of a weeklong Europe trip. It was in a great location near the sights in London. Easy to get to from the underground (1 block). Room was good size for London, although bathroom was small. Nice lounge on 2nd floor and free wi-fi and printing. Staff was very helpful and gave 2 great recommendations for resturants for dinner.

Had a small mishap but DEFINITELY RECOMMEND!!!

First of all I want to say that my husband and I LOVED our stay. Everyone was very friendly, had our room facing the busy street and did not hear anything during the night. We did have a slight mishap with the breakfast. We asked the gentleman if it the breakfast came with the room and he said yes so we ate a small thing of fruit and was on our way. We did this for two mornings and when checking out they had mentioned that they were going to charge us 50 pounds per person/ $200 USD for the two breakfasts. It was good but not $50 USD ea. good. When we told the gentleman at the desk about it he helped us out with no questions asked. We were very impressed by the customer service. It was in the perfect location. We could not have been happier. Next time we're in London we will be staying here!!!

Perfect Location

A great boutique hotel in the heart of London. Pricey, but that is a result of the poor exchange rate between the pound sterling and the US dollar. Room was adequate size, but the small window opened to a light shaft - nothing to see. This was fine for sleeping and isn't that what you want in a hotel room. Staff was great; only downside was no room cleaning until we called which was after 1630 in the afternoon even though we had left the room at 1030.

Easy in, easy out, self-service hotel.

Easy automated self-service check-in. Nice and quiet room on second floor with view of street. Modern bathroom, very nice flat screen TV, clean and comfortable king size bed. No bad smells in the room, smelled rather nice and clean. Nice livingroom area on second floor with Flat screnn TV, one free to use Internet computer, coffee and tea. Easy self service automated check-out. Maps of city are available at counter. If you ask reception to call a taxi to Padinton train station for express train to airport 25 pounds, 75 pounds for ride all the way to the airport (private driver).
