Trip Type: Romance Review 1 of 117Wonderful hotel in a great location!
We loved our stay at the Whitehall! The hotel is a great old, well maintained building; the room was spacious and beautiful; the restaurant's service and food was excellent; the location perfect; service and staff were above expectations! We will return and definitely would recommend it!

My girlfriend and I stayed for a night as we were in town for a wedding. It was great location and they did a great job of taking care of everything we needed. Fast service and with a smile, drinks heavy in both ways and that's fine by me. Had friends meet us and they said the same thing.

Trip Type: Romance Review 3 of 117Great location, very nice older hotel, a bargain
Older hotel, well kept and comfortable, very nice staff, excellent N Michigan Ave. location. Rooms small but adequate for two people. Only problem was malfunction of heating system in the room which they couldn't fix during our three day stay. Would definitely return.

Trip Type: Romance Review 4 of 117Great Location and Price
Scored a nice deal on this European-style hotel located within a block of the John Hancock Tower and within a short walk to many restaurants, attractions, and shopping. Hotel staff was very helpful and professional. Room was quite nice, although bathroom tile and grout needed some work. Renovation in progress, but noise during day was not bad at all. Parking fees in the area can be a bit steep. Overall, quite nice!

Very comfortable bed, quiet room, courteous staff! Only negative was closet doors were hard to open and close but, we were very satisfied. Great location by restuarants and magnificient mile shops.

Trip Type: Romance Review 9 of 117Nice Hotel
Nice hotel and decent price for the location. Some repair work is needed because of the age of the hotel. The cost of parking was ridiculous! Food at the hotel restaurant was excellent.

Trip Type: Romance Review 12 of 117Whitehall Hotel
The concierge at The Whitehall Hotel was the best I have ever had. She was extremely helpful. She made great recommendations, called restaurants to check hours and printed out directions. The room at the Whitehall was very plush. Even had a mink stole on the bed. The entire staff was very friendly. The free coffee in the morning was gourmet. The Italian restaurant on site was great. Check out the thin crust Milanese style pizza. Loved the shrimp and crab pesto pizza. Great location. Easy walk to many popular places. Close to public transportation. The rooms were very quiet.

Trip Type: Romance Review 13 of 117Great location but beware of parking fee
My girlfriend and I stayed at The Whitehall Hotel for 4 days last weekend. I had requested a nonsmoking room with a queen bed. We were put on the 12th floor and when we got to our room, we could tell that the room was a smoking room and the bed was not a queen but a full. After traveling all day to get there, we decided the room was fine. The hotel staff was very friendly. They gave us our room keys and told us to go on up and someone would bring our luggage. Within 5 minutes our luggage was brought up on a cart, unloaded, and put on luggage stands. When you leave the hotel someone will hold the door open for you and welcome you back when you return. The only problem with the room we had was it was a little small. There was barely enough room to squeeze between the entertainment center and the end of the bed. The room and bathroom was very clean and well kept. The hotel is in a great location as well. It is roughly 4 blocks to the train station and there are tourist attractions nearby. The only negative is how much you will have to pay to park your car if you drive. The charge is $35 a night self park or $45 a night valet. We chose the valet since we were not familiar with the area and figured it would be easier. We never used the car once we checked in so it cost $180 for 4 nights of parking. This was not disclosed by hotels.com so it was a shock. I would definitely stay at the Whitehall again, but only if I flew in and was able to take the train in.

Trip Type: Romance Review 14 of 117Parking beware
If you drive in, there's no hotel parking only valet parking, and the time of this writing was 45 dollars a day. Other than that great staff and location. Bring your best walking shoes.

Trip Type: Romance Review 15 of 117They put the screws to me.
Booked a king room for my girlfriend and I. Showed up and they had "upgraded" me to a double queen room. Yay, sleeping on a bed smaller than the one at home with 1 more person. Woke up to a hammer drill next door. TV did not work properly, so we weren't able to rent movies. And, the man at the front desk told us that the valet parking was $25 a day when we arrived. When we checked out I was charged $45 a day. What really bothered me is that if would have known it was $45 I would have used the parking garage across the street for $10 a day less. I ended up paying $145 for parking and internet. The location of the hotel was the only thing that I like about it. From now on, I'd forgo the location convenience for a more comfortable room and cheaper parking.
